This beautiful house has three+ bedrooms, a study with washer/dryer, a large living room, dining room and kitchen, a three-season porch and gorgeous patio, 1.5 baths, and a large, mostly fenced yard. Parking for two cars in driveway. House is located within walking distance to both downtown Kittery and downtown Portsmouth, NH- hundreds of restaurants, art venues, concerts, and more are right around the corner.
For the last few years I have traveled around the country and the world staying in other people's homes. It's time to share my own wonderful place! :)
Home is perfect for get-togethers or reunions but is not a party house... noise ordinance requires quiet by 11:00.

Had a wonderful time on Love Lane! Gwen’s home is creatively decorated, comfortable and is easy access to York Maine or just a bike ride to Portsmouth . We all enjoyed the (too short ) weekend throughly .

Perfect Summer Vacation!

Gwen’s home is absolutely charming. Well-equipped, perfectly located, cozy, and comfortable. I can’t rave enough about both Gwen as a host and this property. Walked in to Kittery every morning for coffee and baked goods (oh my!), many lovely walks to Portsmouth, beach at Fort Foster…We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!!!

Lovely and cozy place convenient to everything

Gwen's place is lovely and cozy, filled with books and amenities. Her kitchen is well stocked, so we just cooked and spent most of our time in the house or the garden. Check-in was super easy and Gwen is very communicative. Everything went smoothly. It's a 15-ish min walk to restaurants. I would love another opportunity to stay at her place again.

Beautiful home in a great location

We had a wonderful girls' weekend at Gwen's beautiful home. We loved the house! It was such a fun stay. Gwen has done such a great job decorating and the gardens were lovely. It was so convenient to Portsmouth as well. We walked into town each day and it was very scenic. The house had everything we needed and it was so cheery and bright. We had a problem with the shower one day and Gwen had it fixed immediately. She was so very kind and responsive. We highly recommend this home. It truly was a special place.

The home is amazing! It feels like each room is a new experience every time you enter.

In spite of 90plus degree heat we enjoyed the house and area. It is such a happy house with positive vibes everywhere. The yard is just as beautiful with trees and flowers and plantings in abundance. And everything lights up when it gets dark. We felt so at home. Gwen is a perfect hostess,checking to be sure our needs were met. We also enjoyed the area and had fun in both Kittery and Portsmouth. Gwen’s place is a treasure!

We were first impressed with Gwen’s great communication- before our arrival and her notes left just for us. Staying in her home was like staying with you favorite, creative artist friend- colorful, fun and full of amazing art, books and history. We used every room- from coffee on the front porch, to relaxing and sipping wine outside. There are so many great restaurants in walking distance, we didn’t do much cooking- but it looked like everything was there we would need if we had.

Wonderful home!

Weekend in Kittery

My experience at this property was great. I spent the weekend up there with a few of my buddies who were in the area for a golf tournament. The home was very clean, and upon arrival, there were notes on the kitchen counter from Gwen about things to do in the area, and any additional information about the house that would be helpful. Gwen was very responsive during our trip whenever I had any questions and was an overall great host!

Sweet Home in Kittery

Loved this warm and welcoming home! It’s in a great location, private but walking distance to lots of cafes and shops in Portsmouth and Kittery. The host Gwen provides lots of great recommendations too.

Wonderful Weekend - Cheerful House

Highly recommended. I've stayed in many vacation rentals, and this is certainly up there in the top of the list. My family had a wonderful time staying with Gwen. She was extremely friendly and flexible - we ended up arriving before the normal check-in time and since it was ready early we were able to get some extra rest time before our afternoon activities. The house itself is just great. It is full of color, with all kinds of wonderful surprises. There is the little table decorated with a lizard, the great selection of books, cute greeting cards all around, and just generally a great vibe. We had 5 people there, and an additional few folks over for breakfast one morning - tons of space for everyone and no issues at all. There is a nice patio outside, and a great 'sun room' in the front. Tons of ways to hang out and have a restful time as a group. Location is good. One evening I did a nice 30 minute round trip jog over through downtown Portsmouth. Walking, you can probably get anywhere in Portsmouth in 30 minutes one-way - less, if you aren't going all the way to the far side of town. There are also a couple really good options right down the block in Kittery for BBQ/breakfast/whatever. I 100% recommend walking down the block to Lil's in the morning for some donuts/crullers - they are probably the best I have had in my life. Get the cinnamon sugar ones. Then get a few more for after your friends/family steal yours. One (very) minor note - the stairs to the second floor are a bit steep. My 70+ father had no troubles at all, but if you are on the frail side, just a note that the bedrooms are all upstairs. To be clear - the stairs are in no way unstable or dangerous.

Colorful, beautiful stay for a girl's get-away

Five former college roommates who get together at least once a year found their way to the east coast and into this perfect house for our girl's weekend. We had plenty of space to spread out and we were so close to so many fun things- walking or driving. Some of the Midwest girls were not accustomed to being somewhere without AC, but the handy little fans in every room helped! (it was a very hot and sticky couple of days!) We enjoyed the cheerful decor and atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay and the host's hospitality very much. Recommended!! Thank you, Gwen!

I am sincerely and thoroughly disgusted with the attitude of the owner of this hostil and toxic environment. It was well over 100 degrees inside upon our arrival. We stayed three hours only because our husbands we on the golf course and unable to be reached. I as well as my one year old granddaughter suffered heat stroke a very dangerous condition as a direct result of the “accommodations “ We spent well over $1000.00 in hotel costs as a result of our three hour stay. The owner claims we “trashed” her home. Which is a bold faced lie. It would have been the kind thing to donhad the owner warned us in advance of the uninhabitable condition of her establishment and refunded our money prior to our suffering physically harmful conditions. We were offered a full refund by the owner. Of which we recieved a little over a third along with an inappropriate scathing by email. Please use caution when renting. This is our fourth VRBO rental. The three previous stays far exceeded our expectations. This however was a total disaster. Most sincerely Eileen and John Groom.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by this review. After hearing of an upcoming heat wave, this renter called me the week prior to her arrival to ask if I had central air-conditioning. I told her that not only do I not have central air in this 1920 house, I no longer even have AC as it had only been used once or twice a year and the house gets a marvelous sea breeze from the Piscataqua River. I told her that I have a plethora of fans. She said that would be fine. She arrived and called me at my job to say the house was absolutely beautiful (she left me a note saying this as well) but then called back a few hours later to say they were hot. I texted back from work to say I was sure it would cool down but she wrote to say they were going to a hotel. When I got to the house I found my belongings all over the place, dirty dishes, dirty diapers in the trashcans, the recycle bin full, cigarette butts on the deck, the beds unmade, towels seemingly used... Unlike my other renters, who have been wonderful and had marvelous things to say about my gorgeous home, it took me hours to clean up from this guest, despite their short stay. Still, I refunded the remainder of their money (all but the first night) and refrained from any public review- I am a loving and grateful person and hate to put negative energy out there in any way in this already stressful world; I always figure we all have our issues. This renter sent me copies of her hospital and hotel bills, as though I was somehow responsible for her being hot or getting sick! I'm not sure what she was hoping for on that, but I figured I'd let that go, too. But this review is mean-spirited and dishonest, and I simply have to defend my good intentions, my hard work, and the beauty of my place. What an unkind, untrue, and unnecessary thing to do. Lovely home, very conveniently located

This home was clean, comfortable and well appointed with interesting and colorful decorations throughout the house. It was also perfectly located as a central stop for all of the places we wanted to visit in Maine, New Hampshire, and Mass. Easy to get to Ogunquit, Kittery, Portsmouth and more, and a quiet and restful place to be in between. Gwen was a very helpful and welcoming host and gave us several great recommendations for dining in the area.

This house is so comfortable and adorable---full of positive energy and beautiful décor. Wish we could have stayed longer just to kick back on the porch and read more of the books on premise! I fell in love with this house the instant I saw it! It's got a lot of room for people to find their own space. The rooms are colorful and cheery and cozy. The location couldn't be better... we can walk to hundreds of restaurants, bike to the beach, walk to concerts... and yet we are in our own private yard and have parking.
