The cabin was beautiful and beautifully decorated for Christmas , as we stayed there for the week of Christmas with the grandkids. The sunset and hot tub was an added bonus. The family loved the game rooms and the space they had not to be on top of each other at times.

Fantastic Vacation!

We had the best time at Buffalo Creek. The animals around the property were so much fun for our children. They enjoyed feeding them and helping take care of them during our trip. The home itself was very nice and clean. Everything we needed was there upon arrival! We will definitely be returning to stay again!

Very quiet and peaceful property. It was fun to see all of the animals and to be able to touch and feed some. Cabin was nice and supplied with lots of equipment for cooking etc. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely time at Bison Overlook Lodge

My family of five (plus one golden retriever) enjoyed our time at this perfectly rustic mountain retreat. We built a fire every night and the kids loved getting up close with the animals. The nearby town of Waynesville has everything you need, including dog-friendly restaurants! We spent a couple days in Asheville, and even made the trek to Dollywood.

Wonderful stay!

We had such a nice relaxing time here. The cabin is beautiful, spotless and very well appointed. The view from the back deck is magnificent and made better by the buffalo, miniature horses, goats, turkey and alpacas. This is a truly relaxing place to stay. We would come back any time we could. We enjoyed playing pool, foosball, air hockey, tabletop shuffleboard and soaking in the hot tub too. Very pleased with our stay.

Excellent stay for kids & adults

Bison Overlook was the perfect size for our family of 6! The cabin had plenty to do for the kids inside and out. The swinging bed in the master was really neat! Beautiful views of mountains, bison, and other farm animals from nearly every window in the cabin! Hot tub & fire pit were great. Communication was fantastic as well! We all really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

Amazing Ranch Stay

We traveled from Northetn Michigan to the beautiful Bison Overlook cabin! What a treat!! Cheryl the owner was great to work with, the working farm was so much fun for the kids to expwrience, and Bison feeding in mornings were great! Plus they cool great on the grill. Can’t wait to be back.

Great family vacation!

We had a great stay at Bison Overlook Lodge. The cabin was wonderful and the kids really enjoyed the "private" kids playground, the game room in the basement and all the animals on the ranch. We loved taking advantage of the Kids Ski Free program during the week at Cataloochee Ski Resort as well. Cheryl was easy to work with and answered all of our questions very promptly. The adults loved the hot tub. A very nice place to unwind and relax - we would highly recommend a stay here!

We LOVED Buffalo Creek and can't wait to come back! It is beautiful and we made so many great memories in just a few days. My kids are already asking when we can come back. Our family vacation at Bison Overlook was AWESOME!!! The cabin was beautiful and fit our family nicely. We enjoyed everything about the location especially the great surprise of the animals. We had our little grandson with us and he fell in love with the animals. We most definitely will stay here again if given the chance. I highly recommend Bison Overlook to everyone. Cheryl was such a great person to deal with and helped with any needs we had. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to experience such a wonderful vacation area!!

Great Location for Making Family Memories

We rented the Bison Overlook Cabin for our family on the weekend my son got married at Palmer's Chapel. Cheryl was great to work with and always responded to any questions I had super quick.When we weren't doing wedding stuff my grand kids (5 and 3) had tons of fun things to do. Buffalo Creek is family owned/run and they made me feel like family. I want to go back and stay when we aren't so busy so I can truly enjoy everything they have to offer. We definitely made a lot of happy family memories!

Wonderful Experience!

We have stayed in many different cabins over the years but our experience at this property was the best of all! We stayed at Bison Lodge and our backyard was full of farm animals that we just fell in love with. The mini horses and baby goats were our favorites and we loved being able to feed them, hold the baby goats, and ride the mini horses. The back porch has a gorgeous view of the mountains and we loved just watching the bison roam and graze. We loved just exploring the property and enjoying the views. The playground was so much for the kids. They loved the pool table, air hockey, and foosball table inside our cabin, too! The cabin was very clean and as Floridians we appreciated that the drive up to the cabin wasn't scary! The road to the cabin is paved and it's easy to get in and out of the parking area. We would love to visit here again!

What a Gem!

Our family spent a week enjoying every bit of the rental house & property surrounding it! Cheryl, the property manager, was AMAZING - very attentive, helpful (we needed an extra high chair and she came through quickly), and kind. Any questions or concerns we had, Cheryl and her crew were quick to respond and manage. Everyone who works at Buffalo Creek is friendly and sweet! Our very young kids LOVED the animals and ability to see them multiple times a day + the playground nearby. The view is fantastic, the house is well-stocked (plus added bonus of toys & baby/child gear and a dog crate), and everything was clean and welcoming! We will be recommending this location to anyone heading to the area and would love to visit again! Thanks to Buffalo Creek Rentals, Cheryl, and all we encountered!

A great place for a peaceful getaway

I booked the Bison Overlook Lodge for three nights as a treat for visiting family from the UK. This was their first trip to America and I wanted them to experience the mountains and to see why we love it and North Carolina so much. This was the first time we had booked a cabin like this and I’m so pleased we did. My family loved it there and it was also centrally located to places we wanted to visit. The cabin has everything you could wish for during your stay. Fully functioning kitchen, games room in the basement, hot tub outside, fire pit and a cupboard full of baby equipment for the little legs in your family. Oh, and I mustn’t forget the swing bed ☺. There were lots of goats and a couple of pigmy horses surrounding the cabin along with Bison not far away in another field. My husband and I will definitely be coming back for another (and longer) stay and my family go away with great memories.

Magical Stay!

We stayed at the Overlook Lodge for Christmas — and it was one of the best times we had together! A real one of a kind stay. Lodge was spacious, clean, with good-sized bedrooms, and the amenities were a real plus. A wonderfully set up Christmas tree was a great touch! And the fully equipped kitchen made cooking Christmas dinner (and grilling) a breeze. The lodge is also pet friendly which we were really grateful about. Getting a chance to see the goats, mini ponies, and bison everyday made this an unforgettable Christmas for sure. Sunrises at the lodge with a cup of coffee was just the ticket! Just 40 minutes from Asheville and 1.5 hour drive to Pigeon Forge, the lodge was a good central point to explore other towns and the great outdoors. Just to note, the pine flooring between the levels are not fully insulated so noise transfers easily. If you’re a light sleeper, I would highly recommend bringing ear plugs. Overall, I’d definitely recommend booking this place!

My brothers & my husband had shared a vision of expanding my fathers buffalo ranch when additional property became available to purchase. With all our knowledge & experiences combine we have built 4 log homes & have been renting them out since 2004. All the furniture in this cabin has been handmade by the wood on the property! Even the covered wagon bed, that was custom built my my father. Once my husband retires from the US Army in about 8 yrs our dream will be to build our log cabin on the property & be more hands on. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to love being transplants from a very flat NY!
