Beautiful views from the cabin

The cabin was near the top of the mountain and remote. Had wonderful views that pictures can’t do justice. You will find yourself taking the same picture off the balcony each morning because of how good the view is.

Beautiful weekend.

Great place to spend some time with family. Property is well maintained and clean. I will say it is defiantly off the beaten path, and I say that in a good way. We traveled with motorcycles and we were kinda sweating the driveway, but it turned out not to be a problem at all. The views from the back porch and living room area are spectacular! Little flairs thrown in by the owners made us laugh. (ie instructions for operating the upstairs AC)We rode the Moonshiner 28, and took a ride to the "road to nowhere." Lot's of places to eat and enjoy in Bryson City. The Italian Restaurant was a great night.

Beautiful setting

It’s quite a drive to the top but you are rewarded with spectacular views! House is well equipped and had everything we needed for a great stay. I do wish I would have followed recommendations from others about an SUV. While not required in non winter months it definitely would have been more appropriate for the trip up the mountain.

We have nothing but excellent things to say about this property. The pictures are identical to the listing. I personally thought the theming of bears around the cabin was amazing. It gives it an excellent touch and a great eye to detail. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities that you could expect. A grill, stove, oven, refrigerator, washer and dryer. Even has a neat game room area upstairs. The bedroom loft I thought was pretty cool, but didn’t need to use it. The hot tub was very clean and it was a perfect evening for me and my girlfriend. As others have mentioned the last 3.3 miles up to the cabin can be a bit challenging if you have never driven very steep grades. It is a slow go up and then back down. Make sure before you go up, you get your dinner to cook, it takes about 33-37 minutes to get from downtown Bryson City up to the cabin. We stopped at a local grocery store in town. The cabin has plates, bowls, cups, flatware, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, baking sheets, cleaning supplies, you name it. Just bring your food and you’re good to go. The main road, I believe Alarka Rd is along the foothills and is easy driving that winds back and forth around a river. Once you turn off it turns to steep mountain grade with narrow 1 car width wide that is gravel to paved in sections. But don’t let this scare you. It can be intimidating the first time, but it is absolutely worth it. My only complaint is that we only stayed a weekend, next time time though.

Absolutely stunning!

This relaxing cabin is just what we needed for our 25th anniversary. Gorgeous views. Extremely quiet, especially when the closest home to it is empty. We found that we didn't even want to leave to go do things. You can spend the entire day just sitting on the porch relaxing. That's a good thing, because getting up and down the mountain is no joke. We highly recommend it, but be careful on the last 250 ft of road before the house. Extremely loose gravel on a steep grade that you have to get a run for unless you have four wheel drive. Vicki responded to us in a timely manner.

Wilderness Paradise - You’ll love this!

This cabin absolutely delivers on mountain views, and a tasteful, premium cabin experience. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Part of that is because there is are long range and unobstructed views of the mountains. When we were there, there were a few cloudy days which, of course impacts, the view- but also adds to the atmosphere and charm of the region. On a clear day, the views really do go for multiple mountain ridges into the distance. They’ve done a great job maintaining the property with beautiful landscaping, and keeping the view clear of obtrusive trees and bushes. As others have noted, it is on a mountain road. When using Google Maps, the GPS ended prior to actually arriving at the property. But the hosts gave great turn by turn directions, which we follow to get us the rest of the way there. The other reason you won’t want to leave is because the cabin is a 30 minute drive from civilization. That’s absolutely part of the charm, but is also something that travelers should be aware of before they book this property. The hosts have done a wonderful job appointing the cabin with all the things that you might need for such a stay. The home has lots of kitchen and bath essentials, as well a grill and fire pit. However, I advise you buy groceries first, before arriving at the property. We have only good things to say about this clean, thoughtfully appointed, and beautiful property.

Spectacular View

This was our second trip to the Smoky’s and was great. The cabin is beautiful and the view is spectacular! Communication with the host was flawless. Highly recommend a stay here. Will say you need to bring a vehicle with a little bit of ground clearance. It was a little tricky getting our car up there but was worth the effort. Doesn’t have to be 4wd but not low to the ground. We got up there with a Camry.

Great Getaway.!

The quietest cabin I've ever been in. Nothing but the wind blowing thru the trees and bird sounds and awesome view. Cabin has all your needs, comforts and more. Expect the normal mountain rds. The drive up is 50/50 blk top and gravel if you're driving a sports car, I had NP in my C7. If you're wanting to go to the Dragon. There's a carwash in Bryson.

The Views!!!

My fiance and I rented this property to celebrate our 20 year anniversary as a couple which turned into our elopement! Pictures just don't do this property justice. Everything about our stay was truly amazing. The views are simply incredible and one of the greatest parts of our stay. The route to the cabin from town is roughly 25 minutes, so make sure you stop by the Ingles grocery right in town before making your way through and up the mountain, otherwise cabin is fully stocked with all the essentials (dishes, soap, spices, coffee, etc) It is a beautiful drive, but note the drive from the Alarka community entrance is a bit steep and windy....but the views are WORTH IT!!!!! I can see why 4 wheel drive might be necessary in the winter. We enjoyed learning how to play the Dutch Shuffle Board in the upstairs den! Recommend all the nearby waterfalls, Road to Nowhere, local shops and dining, but most importantly just relaxing and admiring thr cabin views. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable stay for our 20 year anniversay/honeymoon!!

Hi!
We're Tom and Vicki. We love the Smoky Mountains and everything they have to offer. We live in Florida but travel as often as possible.

We hope you enjoy the cabin as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We've been traveling to the mountains for years and always wanted a place to call home when we visit. We fell in love with the views at Alarka Highlands. We loved the proximity to Bryson City. We built the cabin for visitors like us in mind.

Enjoy!
