About this property
Take a Rest at Pine Point
Welcome to Pine Point located in central Maine on 3.5 virgin forest acres. While being conveniently located less than two miles from town, the property is very secluded on it's 800' of private lake frontage. This newly decorated 100 year old cottage contains many modern conveniences while maintaining it's original rustic charm. Upstairs you'll find a large bedroom with a king sized bed, and a pullout twin trundle . The first floor contains a well equipped kitchen, living room, dining room and large wraparound screened in porch with a full sized Murphy bed and an alcove with a twin bed.
Pine Point is about the most peaceful place on the planet. The Lake is quiet with few motor boats. It looks onto Mt. Katahdin from the front campfire area and back deck. The other side faces a calm cove that is home to bald eagles. Fish from the shore or take a peaceful ride on the paddleboat. Enjoy a book in a hammock or build a campfire in the new firepit.
Loons will lull you to sleep with their haunting calls. Maybe it's the rhythm of water pushing against rocks that will be the last thing you hear before nodding off. Wake to the early morning sunrises or sleep until noon.
Star filled nights end days that are visited by song birds, osprey and even soaring bald eagles.
Restore your spirit by spending the day at camp. Or enjoy all that Vacationland has to offer, from hiking Mt. Katahdin to visiting the rocky coast of Maine.

About the host
Hosted by Linda & Paul

Owning Pine Point cabin is a dream come true. My husband, Paul and I have lived in Maine all our lives and have always dreamed of having a secluded historic cottage on a lake. We lived 40 years on the coast of Maine near Pine Point Beach. Early in our marriage we were caretakers for a cabin on Moosehead Lake called "Tak-A-Rest". For a dollar a year and lots of sweat equity we received much needed respite and made some happy family memories. Pine Point cabin had been in the same family since 1942 and has quite a history. I fell in love with it two years before we purchased it, but never thought it could become a reality. Paul & I purchased the property on our 39th wedding anniversary. We have renamed the cottage "Tak-A-Rest" at Pine Point. We believe it is a blessing from God and will honor his gift by sharing the peace that this property brings to restore others. Paul's grandfather emigrated from Russia in 1918. We wish to honor him by donating 10% of the rent to a Christian ministry to the people of Russia. "The Birches" painting in the cottage was painted by a ten year old Russian child who benefitted from an Art Project through this ministry.
