Very clean, well stocked, short distance to the beach.
This house was great! All of the beds were comfortable and the fact that all 3 adult couples got a King Bed was a huge bonus. The kitchen is very well stocked. We loved getting to sit out on the screened in porch at night and enjoy the sunset and warm weather. The beach is great! It wasn’t crowded at all. You do have to cross busy Rt.1 but with a little patience there was plenty of safe patches to cross. There were 2 kayaks available to use out on the bay.
Some hiccups with the house, etc that were addressed quickly. House is dated and needs some TLC- but may have been due to end of season. We are people that cook- lots of pots and pans- no serving pieces; mixing bowls etc- a few added would go along way. Walk to the beach; quiet command the view are the best!!

Thank you for your review Rebecca! We enjoyed having your group stay with us and we hope you loved the beach! We appreciate your suggestions and will pass them on to the owner so we can create an even better stay for you in the future. - Victoria :)
Beautiful house with panoramic views of bay and nightly sunsets! Easy walk directly across street to beach with lifeguard. Private dock made fishing, crabbing and kayaking fun and easy. Kayaks/oars were in mint condition and life preservers were also available. Arrival/check in was very smooth. Spacious bedrooms with all large beds that were made up with towels in each room. Bathrooms very clean and supplied with plenty of amenities, soaps, TP, tissues etc.Well appointed kitchen for those who love to cook also with plenty of papergoods.Very large decks with plenty of furniture on both floors gave plenty of room for our large group to spread out.Screened in porch is a huge plus!Plenty of parking space for us and our kids.Short drive to Bethany and Rehoboth.Checkout easy as just had to put linens/towels in bag for service to pick up on check out morning- many other rentals have you clean all before you leave.Looking forward to our next stay!
Corner lot on the bay with spectacular sunset views.
Corner lot on the bay with spectacular sunset views. There is a shared boat dock where you can drop in kayaks, boards, etc. which was very convenient. You have to cross Route 1 to get to the beach and there is no crosswalk or signs so be prepared to dash across as cars will not stop for pedestrians there. It is a nice private beach. The house set up has one primary suite on the top level and all other rooms one floor below. I did not pay enough attention when reading the description - the owner was in the lower level while I was renting the rest of house and it is rented separately so you could be renting the upstairs while there is someone else renting the lower level of the same house. The description said there was a hot tub as well and I was not able to find it. No outdoor showers which is odd for a beach property. Some of the nice touches that I really appreciated - plenty of toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap already supplied. Small toiletries in the bathroom and foil, baggies and plastic wrap which are so useful, but you never want to buy while on vacation. Linens and towels supplied and, beach chairs, bikes and kayaks available. There were some minor issues that came up while we stayed there, but the management sent someone out same day. The interior is quite dated and some aspects could use some more attention to make the interior as fantastic as the location. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect to accomodate my group.
Perfect for our family! Location was excellent! Owner was very hospitable and available. We selected this house, a little pricey for us (but worth every penny) ,because we were all in desperate need of respite after several stressful years.
It delivered! Pluses for us were that at our family dog was welcome and the weather was the best this summer. I had read a poor one star report on this house from the year before. Seems there was an air conditioning problem, which unfortunately can happen. I was concerned, as my own health issues require air conditioning, but I took the gamble and won!
Would definately recommend!
Lovely space with a big lot right on the cove, with incredible sunsets. Space just as advertised, all well maintained. Little issues were immediately taken care of by Lynn and Wayne. Bikes, kayaks, close to private beach. We are a group of 10 ranging in age from 19-62, and we loved every minute. We will return!

Renter beware of this okay, but poorly maintained property.
Our experience at this Bethany Beach house was far less than ideal. It was not well maintained and cleaned, with stained carpets and dog hair throughout, items left behind from previous tenants on the floor and between couch cushions and a kitchen that needed a thorough scrubbing. The barbecue grill, located on the upper deck, felt like it was on the verge of falling apart. And basic household supplies that you would expect to be on hand — toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, laundry detergent, to name a few — were not to be found.
During our stay, which coincided with a period of high temperature, high humidity days, the air conditioning unit for the top floor — which held all the living spaces as well as the bedroom we were using — broke. It took two full hot and sweaty days for it to be repaired.
As for the house itself, which shows beautifully on the website, there was much to be desired. While the layout sounds nice — top floor living spaces for better views — it creates the need to lug all your kitchen and other supplies up two steep flights of steps. Also, while it’s true that the beach was right across a road from us, that road was DE 1, a high speed four lane highway with no traffic lights in sight. This proved a bit daunting to cross when wheeling our two toddler granddaughters. It also meant that we had to listen to truck and car traffic whizzing by as we attempted to get to sleep every night.
So my advice to prospective renters is to look elsewhere for your week on the beach. A vacation is too short to have it marred by the issues we encountered.

This is in response to a really bad review we received this summer.
We understand that when you book one of our beach houses, you are setting aside a special family time for relaxation, rest and for making really happy memories.
It is our top priority to provide whatever we can to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and hopefully, a place where you would want to return for a future family vacation.
Unfortunately, during the stay of this visitor, the AC system broke down.
We have no control of when such inconvenient situations, such as this, may occur.
We do have a contract with a local, reputable service company. They were able to come to the property promptly but told us that a part was needed.
They were going to order it, but we weren't satisfied, because it would take longer than we were willing to make our guests wait.
We had several employees hunting desperately, for free-standing, non-window AC units.
We were relieved to have found 3 of these and were on our way to transport them to the beach house.
We scoured two states trying to locate the repair part ourselves. We were willing to travel 300 miles to pick it up and get it delivered.
Fortunately, we found a part more readily available and immediately had it installed.
Due to the pandemic, there is a limit of supplies, but despite the setback, we were able to have the AC “up and running” the next day.
We don’t know why there was a shortage of soap, toilet paper, etc. The cleaning company has been instructed to leave adequate supplies.
We extended an offer to the guest, that they could stay throughout the weekend into the next week, or they could book a week for a future holiday, free of charge.
We understand the beach houses have Route 1 in front. Yes, this isn a busy road to cross.
However, just on the other side, is an amazingly, beautiful PRIVATE beach.
The windows to the house are double-paned and insulted. We never heard this complaint before regarding the traffic noise.
Finally, this unhappy guest threatened to give us a bad review (turns out, a REALLY BAD review) if we didn’t refund him back a substantial amount of his payment.
We invite you to come to one of our 2 beautiful beach houses on Salt Hay Drive, in Wharton’s Cove. It is our earnest desire to help make this one of your best, most unforgettable getaways EVER!!
House was very well equipped and maintained. Summer and rentals had taken its toll, but very pleasurable week at the beach.
Beautiful sunsets over the water.
We rented this property for the week of 8/7 to 8/14. The house was large and was very comfortable for our four adult children. The decking and screened porch were awesome and the views of the sunsets over the bay were incredible. The house came with beach chairs, unbrella and a wagon. Kayaks were also really nice to have. The beach was a short walk and it was never a problem crossing the highway.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would rent this property again!
Great bay views and sunsets. Good location a few miles from Bethany town. Getting across highway to beach was not as bad as expected. House itself was a good layout for our group, though it’s in need of upgrades and refreshing. Some aspects were pretty bare bones and we did expect more for the amount we paid. Overall, however, our extended family enjoyed our time in the house and surrounding area.
This beach house worked very well for several adults, two small children and one baby. Access to the beach, across the highway, was not as much of a hassle as I thought it might be. The back deck, overlooking the sound, was beautiful.
What a stroke of luck we had in finding this beautiful, well appointed beach house. The views alone were magnificent. Our elderly mother was able to sit on the large deck and enjoy her coffee and read her book while taking in the tranquil views of the water. The sunsets were incredible especially when there was a storm inland!
It was an added bonus to have bikes, beach chairs and a beach cart already supplied for us.
The property manager was lovely to work with and would recommend this rental!

Lovely trip
We loved this spacious well equipped house, great location on bay near beach Amazing sunsets & birdwatching from the balcony
We enjoyed our stay at this spacious, waterfront home that is beautifully decorated with a nautical theme. From the decks on both levels, we watched and photographed fabulous sunsets over Indian River Bay. Wharton's Cove residents and vacationers have direct access to spectacular, private Bethany Beach just a short walk away. All that is needed is a little patience to get directly to the ocean across Coastal Highway 1, which includes a path for biking enthusiasts. This residence is located at the beginning of the Delaware Seashore State Park and there's no other residence towards the north in Wharton's Cove. It's a great spot for kayaking on the bay and its channels, for fishing and for observing wildlife, especially birds. The beds in the home were very comfortable so we slept well. It was a great stay and easy for our family to comply with social distancing regulations. Thank you for this wonderful week.
A beautiful spot with a great deck to watch the most amazing sunsets
Plenty of space to gather with friends or have your own space as needed. Super easy check in and check out! . Would definitely stay here again !

Excellent family vacation!
We loved this 6 bedroom bay front beach home! The sunsets are outstanding, it is spacious and clean.
The only difficult part is accessing the beach as it is a bit scary to cross coastal highway on foot, but the beach is beautiful and not crowded.

Sweet 16 getaway
We booked this house as a last minute getaway for 2 families with sixteen year old daughters. Luckily, it wasn't last minute quality. The location was fantastic. The short walk to the beach took us to a private location. We practically had the beach to ourselves. The owners were communicative and made the trip stress free. We're definitely coming back.
