We enjoyed our stay at this little cottage. The owner was extremely helpful in check in and helping us get settled. Very short walk to downtown and all the shops and restaurants. It is an older property but has lots of charm. I would recommend this cottage for anyone who wants to enjoy Manitou Springs.
Great trip and weather for hiking. The property was in a great location to walk to all downtown amenities as well as walk to the incline. The house was very clean and comfortable. John was a fantastic host and always made sure you had what you needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this authentic Victorian duplex cottage in Manitou Springs!
The owner, John was friendly, and handled our check in and check out seamlessly. The accommodations were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed evenings on the spacious front porch, and the super convenient location in the historic village of Manitou Springs. We hope to visit again soon.
This was our base camp HQ for an amazing expedition to the summit of Pikes Peak. It was the perfect location, within walking distance to the Barre Trail. Our host provided us with valuable local insight to our expedition and, after we got back from the summit, we easily walked to the downtown area to enjoy some local fare. My friends and I made memories that I will keep forever. 10/10!
Older cottage but functional. Not for mobile restricted person as there are steps and uneven walkway and a good size hill as it is in Manitou. Cooling unit comes from one bedroom to the entire place so group must be friendly. Clawfoot tub with shower is small but again functional. So if you like charming old places with character close to downtown this is for you. I would stay again.
It is an old building with modern conveniences located in a tourist town. The building is sort of duplex style with accommodations next door. Parallel parking on the street on a hill with residential reservations. We never had to search for a parking space. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It is only about 3 blocks from downtown Manitou Springs.
The bed was comfortable.
The location is within east driving distance to many local attractions, including Pike’s Peak and Santa’s Workshop. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is less than 1/2 hour away.
PROS
* Owner, John seems like a nice guy; he’s pretty much invisible
* Overall, it’s a charming, private, quiet, and tidy four-room (plus one bath) cottage; carpeted except for kitchen and bath; controllable cooling unit kept the place plenty cool
* Great for a couple
* Living room: comfy loveseat and rocking chair, small TV with DVD player, and ceiling fan
* Kitchen is adequate; microwave, coffee maker, toaster, ice maker
CONS
* Location: on a steep hill and walk back to the cottage is not easy
* Outside: steps up to the front door are too steep for those who may have difficulty navigating stairs, especially descending; steps are not lit at night
* Overall, front door key is hard to work (must jiggle just right to get it in/out); must walk through spare bedroom to get to bathroom; evaporative cooler requires the top quarter of the front window to remain open (but screened)
* Spare bedroom: this room is where the window evaporative cooler is located, so you have to leave the doors to this room open all the time to cool the whole cottage
We loved our stay! The property had enough space to touch base between outings, relax and recharge, and feel just like home. John is the perfect host - we especially enjoyed the porch and visit with Morty.
The cottage was enchanting and in a great location. Though it was up hill it was an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in down town Manitou Springs. John was a great host.
Very enjoyable stay, Will without a doubt stay here again!!

Quaint cottage overlooking village of Manitou Springs
Honeysuckle Cottage sits nestled among the Victorian-era homes that line the cozy, narrow streets overlooking the town of Manitou Springs. The owner, John, lives next door with his playful pup. John is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the town and its history. From the cottage, it's a short drive to Garden of the Gods and other area attractions, and an easy walk down to the village shops and restaurants - a little harder hiking back up the hill to the cottage, but relaxing on the porch at the end of the day makes the hike worthwhile!
Our stay was very pleasant and, for the most part, comfortable, but there were a couple of unexpected issues for us: First, use of the kitchen was fine for simple breakfast and lunch, but cooking a larger meal would have been challenging due to limited supplies for food preparation. Second, the bathroom is only accessible by going through the second bedroom. For many guests, these would not be problematic at all, but knowing what to expect ahead of time would be helpful.
Our primary concern was that, in spite of being charged a cleaning fee, the cottage was not clean. There was an overlooked used towel from a previous guest, a dirty footprint on the bathmat, the kitchen floor was grimy, and the cottage as a whole was in need of a thorough, deep cleaning.
That being said, however, if the cleanliness issue was resolved, I would not hesitate to stay at there again and would recommend it to others. Honeysuckle Cottage is full of nostalgic charm, quiet and relaxing, yet convenient to a wide variety of dramatic landscapes, historic sights and exciting attractions.
