good time for a kiddo

I stayed at the farm with my gf and her 9 yr old son who didn't want to leave the property whatsoever bc he enjoyed looking at, feeding, or playing with. The dogs there are very friendly and have a heavenly life of running around here and there. There was a volunteer there from Germany, Jan, who made the stay truly worthwhile. He was very kind to the kiddo, had him help gathering eggs, feeding chickens, and building a campfire. He was took care of quite a lot there. I wish everyone were as hardworking and genuine as him.

Sweetest Animals & People

Can't wait to go back. Super fun meeting all the animals that are obviously loved and taken care for so much they are friendly to everyone. My dogs loved it too. Only suggestion for future guests is to bring your own way to play music & DVDs for we couldn't find the remotes/plugs for them. But didn't matter we had the sound of roosters & chickens to entertain us instead.

Unclean & un-kempt

The un-cleanliness of Mr.Ed's cabin was the beyond acceptability. There were pee stains on the toilet, dirty wet towels still hanging in the bathroom with no new clean ones. The microwave interior had not been cleaned. The bed was made but did not appear to have had clean sheets, and this really disgusted us. The heater was not working, although the proprietor did find another old & dirty space heater to put in the cabin. At this point we decided we could not stay, and re-packed out belongings into the car after a full day of traveling. We stopped at the owners house on our way out and requested a refund which the woman agreed to do by applying a credit to my credit card which she never did. I have now had to contest the charge with my credit card company. I've spent many nights in B&B's and homes using "Homeaway" throughout the past 10-15 years and have never come across anything like this. I saw a previous review about this place complaining about the cleanliness but since it is was just one I bad review, I didn't take it seriously, but obviously now wish I had. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

QUIET and Peaceful

Well, I only met my host briefly as they know you want to just breath the fresh air and the peace and quiet, in fact, when I pulled up and said I have to pay you the rest for the stay Tim said... don't worry about the money now, get settled in... When I left, I left the balance on the table, guess he saw in my eyes I'm a regular down to earth guy. They have a policy of no dogs on the bed, my dogs are spoiled but I brought some large sheets that I threw on the bed and shook them out in the yard each morning as not to have hair. There was pots and pans, silverware, glasses, etc., a coffee machine (thank god) plus some condiments. I brought my own food pre-cooked so all I needed to do was heat it up. The only BAD thing I could say is (1) front door needs a screen door, would have been nice to keep it open, get the air in without letting the bugs in or one of those screens on a pressure rod; (2) I didn't see a broom, if there was one I would have swept as my dogs track dirt in, I took off my shoes but does no good when in socks and dogs are dragging in dirt, a small broom and cheap spong mop and I would have been glad to clean up; and (3) the toaster over needs to be replaced, works but SLOW LOL, but then again, I was in no rush LOL, stupid complaints right.. I brought some bug candles and had them lite outside by the door at night just to keep them away... hey... its the woods, bugs are part of that experience, can't complaint about that, its nature... but a screen of some sort (seasonal) on the front door would have been really nice. The yard(s) are fenced in so my dogs were safe if I let them out, He ask that you keep the front yard clean as I certainly complied, except dum dum me, I left my bag of garbage in the cabin and forgot to take it out when I left and put it in the appropriate cans "sorry guys". In all, I give it a 9.5 out of a 10.

Great little cabin on a farm in the country

We had a great 5 day vacation. Mr. Ed's cabin is a comfortable, clean studio with many quaint decorative touches. It has a porch and small fenced in yard. The farm has chickens, bunnies, horses and a goat and is quite near to Mohonk and Minnewaska State Park. We hope to return soon!

Didn't love it...

We needed a place to stay in the area of the "Gunks", as my husband was doing some rock climbing all day on the Saturday. Me and our 2 dogs were just along for the ride. I'm not sure what I expected. We were only there for 2 nites, so even tho I didn't really like the place, I survived. Mr Ed's cabin is a small one room cabin. And we were fine with that. We've stayed at many rented places over the years. It doesn't have to be big. Even the set-up inside was fine. My problem laid mostly in the fact that the place wasn't clean. It felt like no one had stayed there for quite a while or even looked in on the place. There were dead bugs and cobwebs in a few places. That doesn't say to me that it's been cleaned recently. Sure someone came in and made the bed. Altho, I can't even say for sure if the sheets were changed between guests. Most times, freshly changed sheets smell fresh. These did not. So either they were not changed at all or they were changed a long time ago and lost the fresh smell. There were a few live ants on the kitchen counter and one in the bed as well. While yes this place is on a farm and there's bound to be a few bugs from time to time. It's the cobwebs, live ants and dead bugs laying on the floor and a big mosquito dead in a cobweb that was a turn-off. The whole place could use some sprucing up outside as well. Also the tv didn't work. Yes there was one, but it wasn't hooked up and was missing a power cord. We asked for a cord and were eventually brought one, but there was no way this cord would've worked for the tv. Anyone could've looked at it and known that. Well almost anyone. Since I was at the house/cabin all day on Saturday, without a vehicle, it would have been nice to relax and watch a little bit of tv. But again, only there for 2 nites, not that big a deal. It seems to me that if "hospitality" is your business and you're renting out places, that you'd make sure they were clean. Use a vacuum cleaner, clean up the cobwebs and dead bugs. I'm not a prude, I live in the country and deal with this kind of thing all the time. I just don't enjoy dead bugs or live ants in my house. That was my main problem with Mr Ed's Cabin. And such an easy thing to take care of. If you don't mind that kind of thing, then by all means, stay there.

Always a pleasure to stay here! Perfect for our entire family.

With chickens and horses and a goat and a hot tub and a river and plenty of grass to run on, our family, and especially our young daughter, always has an excellent time.

Tim and Beth’s Farm was Fantastic!!!

Tim and Beth’s Farm Retreat was a fantastic experience! 10 minutes after getting settled into the cabin there was a little scratch at the door. I opened it to find Claire, a big beautiful Golden Retreiver, she came to welcome us. All of the farm animals were lovely. I was especially partial to the lovely Goat named Kukla who quietly followed us around and loved having her neck rubbed between the horns. The cabin itself was beautiful with full kitchen and great old west motif. Especially liked the wagon wheel shower, moose silhouette lamp shades and horse curtains. Tim was incredibly friendly, laced back and welcoming in every way possible. He immediately made you feel like an old friend. He told us some of the intriguing history of the land that he got in 1984 and what it was and what he has created. I met Tessa who was feeding the animals on the last day of our stay and got all the information about upcoming projects, the other rooms they have to rent and some more description of what the land I’d like in the summer (we will be returning in July). These people are incredibly open and genuine. I loved our stay at the farm and can’t wait to go back.

Nice Getaway

We had a very nice stay. This is a real farm with all the animals wondering around, which is very cool, especially since you can pet all of them. The property is big enough to be able to take a nice walk and explore a little. The surrounding area as a whole was gorgeous and a nice change of pace for us since we live in Philadelphia.

Fun and relaxing times at Mr. Ed's Cabin

We wish we had booked a longer stay. Mr. Ed's Cabin sits on a working farm and is a great spot to get away from the City for a few days. Its very relaxing, and the hosts are welcoming and friendly. I was concerned that being on a farm with hosts and other guests would not be for us. But it was the exact opposite. The hosts really make you feel a part of their farm and then disappear so you can enjoy the sites on the farm. The other guests are also friendly and go about their visit with a lot of joy and curiosity. If you have little ones, it will be fun for them, and gives the parents a reprieve from having to entertain them, as the farm animals and open space provide plenty to view and do. We will be back, and a quick 2 hour drive from the City makes it an easy trip to do.

Rustic, country get away

We had a great, very relaxing stay here with our 2 dogs. Beth was very welcoming, but didn't hover. We had our own space with a fenced in yard for the dogs. Room was well put together with unique, hand-crafted touches. The farm was close enough to local attractions but peaceful and quiet. A great hide-away!

Away from it all stay

This is a small - one room does all- beautiful spot in the country of upstate New York . The cabin is surrounded by a small garden and extensive meadowland which the owner cuts a winding track through, and forests There were many wild flowers and birds we'd never seen in the UK aswell as the owner's 3 horses, hens and goats. The owners are friendly and helpful and the cabin simple but characterful , with all the basics. I've only given 4 stars as due to work continually being done around the property, there are quite a lot of mechanical noises going on in the day if you're not out exploring. Also bedding was a bit thread bare in places and there could be more cutlery - literally 3 of everything, no jug and only one tea towel. We like living away from it all and are country people, but think these few additions would really make a difference.

Serene and Friendly

The property is beautiful and secluded away from main routes. There are many friendly animals (I.e. Goats, horses, rabbits, chickens and dogs) that were accessible for loving and playtime 24/7. Beth and Tim were friendly and hands off, allowing their guests to explore their property. I loved my experience there-perfect place to recharge if you love nature!

Nice getaway

Mr Ed's cabin was everything we expected. We really enjoyed the goat and everyday we were greeted by one of the farm kitties, whether it was first thing in the morning or waiting on the porch for us to return from our outings. There are many things close by...Woodstock site, Orange County Choppers, vineyards/wine tasting. The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because the yard of the cabin could have been manicured more like the pictures. Overall we were pleased and would consider coming back for future vacations.

Great getaway for a little one

We were looking for a place to take our 2 year old son out of the city and the farm was perfect! The cabin is adorable, much nicer than the photos, everyone we met were lovely and helpful and their really were chickens, rabbits, baby goats, and other animals right outside. We did not have much contact with the owners, email was never answered, the pizza was only offered on Saturdays and the breakfast was $15 a person so we did not do it. When we did meet them though, they were gracious and even found toys for our little one. With nearby hiking, berry picking, petting farms, swimming holes etc and only two hours from New York, I recommend it highly.

Unwind your mind away from the City!!!!!

We had an amazing get away! From the moment we got there we had a very warm welcome. There is a creek where you can lay down and catch some sun or take a bike ride to see the beauty of surroundings. It was such a peaceful and fun vacation. My dog got a new friend Kuma and had such a blast that he fell asleep that night so hard that even a word "food"! did not woke him up, and he loves to eat!!!! And jacuzzi under open sky was just an icing on a cake!!!!! We watched falling starts while soaking in hot tub. It was amazing!!!!!!!!! We enjoyed every moment of our trip. Thank you soooo much Beth and Tim. Best wishes, Katya&Kimyon and Ivana, and of course Buddy :)

Wonderful property and quiet getaway

This is a great rental property for those who enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate NY. Tim and Beth are wonderful hosts, and their farm is full of life, including horses, dogs, cats, and chickens. There are two free-standing rentals on the property; one is a cabin, the other is a yurt, and both are beautiful. I stayed in the cabin with my dog, and it's perfect for one person or a couple.

Wonderful stay with our 2 year old son

The cabin and farm has a nice down to earth feel. My wife's sister lives 2 miles up the road and was getting married. We have a 2 year old son and needed a place close by. It work out better that we could imagine. Quiet during the day for his nap, as well as the night(nice after driving 7 hours). He also love seeing the horse and chickens. The town and surrounding has great places to eat too.

The Photos Don't Do It Justice!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the cabin for three nights mid-week in early October 2011, as a sweet little romantic getaway from New York City, and it was just beautiful! The photos do not do it justice - it's way cuter and homier than it looks in these images. Plus the shower is just to die for - a wagon wheel hung over a stone basin? Genius! We had great fun interacting with Beth and all the dogs, chickens and horses - we only wish we could have stayed longer. Our only complaint is that the shower didn't seem to want to maintain consistent water temperature; it flashed from hot to cold. But it was still usable, and we understand that Tim is pretty handy, so we're sure it's an easy fix.

heaven in the Hudson Valley

I spent a month here with my two and four year olds. The cabin, the farm and the whole hudson valley are a beautiful place to stay. We relaxed, visited near by towns like New Platz, Kingston and Woodstock, swam in the rivers, hiked, and picked our own berries. There is a never ending supply of beauty, things to do or ways to relax. And to make the stay even better, the owners, Tim and Beth are graciouse, welcoming and made our stay even more special. They were full of surprises for my kids like sand boxes, rope swings and letting my kids help with the animals. We had a magical time in the cowboy cabin and with Tim and beth
