The host had great communication and friendly. My family enjoyed this cabin. My sons played outside and we saw a family of deer from the balcony. Great stay!
Our second time staying and it was a great time away from the busy hustle. Peaceful and the views are our favorite! Enjoyed the fireplace on the deck and the bird watching is a plus!
This is a super cute house and it’s exactly as described. Just the right size for two to four people to enjoy a few days of chilling out with gorgeous views.
Great communication with the host! The bed was comfy and the view was breathtaking. The “steps” could benefit with a hand railing for support.

The cabin has an awesome view of the lake and mountains. It's just a short drive from hiking trails. The cabin is private and has a well equipped kitchen. The host communicated both in advance and during our stay to ensure we had a great time. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
My family and I loved this cabin. It was everything we expected to be. Small, cozy, comfortable and simple. The porch facing the lake and stunning view surrounding by nature. Definitely a place to return.
Very comfortable older cabin on the hill. Great view just a bit difficult for older folks because of rock stairs down to the cabin all in all, very pleasant stay KL
Loved the view from the porch and everything was within driving distance. Our favorite part about the stay was the wood burn fireplace.
Only recommendations would be have lights for the driveway at night since by 4pm it is pitch black and possible hand rails since the rock steps can be steap.
This cabin is very cozy ,perfect for for a weekend getaway with a beautiful view of the lake and the wildlife . Great host, responses quickly to any questions we had. Will definitely be back.
Our family enjoyed our 3 days of relaxation here. We mostly lounged around and enjoyed the view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The home has a nice layout, clean, and the kitchen is well stocked. Lastly, the owner is very courteous and responsive.
Had a great three days at Cuyamaca state park. Cabin is comfortable, well equipped and has a beautiful view of the lake. Stayed with a 6 month old baby. We were all very comfortable in the cabin. Great drives and hikes in the area. Julian is close by and worth a visit.
Cabin is in a great location. Beautiful views, close to trailheads and the lake. Great weather and great hikes over three days. Very enjoyable.
Cabin also clean and well maintained. Sitting on the porch in the evenings was terrific.
Such a fun time to get back to San Diego’s East county. Cozy cabin feel, amazing view with tons of wildlife to watch all morning and evening. Birds, deer, turkeys. Close to the lake, hiking, fishing. Just a great place, you’ll spend all day on the patio. 6 miles into Julian For pie, local shops, mines to see. Great local food at The Pub at cuyamaca lake. Jeremy’s on the hill was good too.

Beautiful View
Beautiful view from the porch is this property's crown jewel. Beds/ammenitys are a bit worn.
The best view of the area, incredible views of the lake, the mountains and wildlife, the cabin has all the needed amenities and communication with the property owner was most helpful. We’ll definitely be back.

About the host
Hosted by Herve Le Calvez
My name is Herve. I'm a scientist turned entrepreneur in the San Diego biotech community. I have been living in San Diego for 25 years bringing my children in Cuyamaca when they were still babies. As young adults, they love coming to Julian and surrounding parks. I'm an outdoor addict that loves hiking and mountain biking all these trails around here and in the Anza-Borrego desert down below. I am originally from Paris in France, always loved rural and mountain setting.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property to get something more comfortable than camping. It's a perfect gateway place 1 h drive from San Diego. It was first built in 1925 and transformed into a modern cabin later.
What makes this property unique
Waking up in the morning and looking at that view put a smile on your face right away. You can sit on the porch and watch deer and turkeys coming out right by the cabin early in the morning or at dusk. Weather is unique here, at 4500ft it's very cold in winter with strong winds (>60 mph) and 1 ft snow fall during a winter storm. Blizzard can have you stuck here for the day, even in May!
