We welcome you to our property, which includes both a house and bunkhouse. Nestled in the woods, the newly built smoke-free house includes 1.5 baths, AC, big screen TV, deck, loft, walkout basement, washing machine and drier. There is a short walk through the woods to a bunkhouse, which is included in the rental and has a wraparound deck that overlooks Maple Juice Cove. It is a rustic set up, with a couch and a fireplace on the first floor. There is a composting toilet, but there is no water or plumbing in the bunkhouse. The bunkhouse has electricity and the loft can be used as a bedroom. To be compliant with the town's ordinance, there are no cooking facilities in the bunkhouse and guests should not bring their own. A cleaning service disinfects the house and bunkhouse between stays. Total of 3 bedrooms between the house and the bunkhouse.
The bunkhouse is near the water, with a natural rock path leading down to the water. This path may not be appropriate for folks who have difficulty walking or are not steady on their feet. But the path is well traveled and is otherwise safe. Guests should use caution when the steps are slippery from rain.
The weekly rental is outfitted with 2 double Necky Looksha kayaks and 2 Stand Up Paddleboards. Paddles, some gear and a small selection of lifejackets and booties are provided. The cove is tidal, with the water coming up to shore twice a day and then going out exposing mud flats. Bring your water shoes for the mud flats just in case.
Saturday to Saturday rental only. We are also renting 4+ consecutive weeks at a discount. Reach out if interested. Guests need to sign a short term rental contract and waivers for the kayak/SUPs.

We had a lovely, restful week on Maple Juice Cove. Even though there are other people in the area, we barely saw or heard anyone, so it truly felt like a retreat. The house was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. We spent hours out on the water with the paddleboards! The deck of the boathouse was the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon reading, and lots of primo birdwatching. I will caution that accessing the shoreline requires good agility and mobility -- you're climbing up and down a fairly steep set of natural (rock) steps. It was fine for us (two healthy adults and a surefooted 11 year old) but it's easy to imagine why that might not be for everyone. Heinz was super responsive via text to our questions, not only about the house but with recommendations for things to see and do in the area.
Great location and nice home. We were all in our 70's and the path to the studio was too steep and uneven for some less mobile guests, but a great view for those of us that could safely get there.
Everything was great. The owner was very clear about the property, his instructions about the property, and his expectations of us as guests. We had everything we needed for our stay.

We want to share our home in Maine with you, when we can’t enjoy it ourselves.
Why they chose this property
We are just down the street from the Olsen House, where Andrew Wyeth painted ‘Christina's World’. Rockland and Camden are a short drive away. There is a country store close by which has everything you need.
This area has a lot to offer. A short drive will bring you to Owl's Head lighthouse, and you can visit Port Clyde to check out Marshall Point Lighthouse. There will be some excellent choices of restaurants to choose from along the way. Rockland, Rockport and Camden are all nice seaside communities with shops and great restaurants.
What makes this property unique
The coast is great for kayaking, and Maple Juice cove is a lot of fun for Stand Up Paddle boarding. The water is relatively warm for swimming.
We’ve decorated our house with Andrew Wyeth prints. The Wyeths have a long history with Cushing, including the painting ‘Christina’s world’ which can be seen from a short kayak in the cove.
The additional bunkhouse is a nice option if parents want their own private space from the kids. It has a deck with a nice view of the cove.
