Swim Center (5 minute drive)
Equestrian Center (10 minute drive)

Tennis & Pickle Ball Center (5 minute drive)
Fisherman's Cove (5 minute drive)

Hiking & Walking Trails
Close by is the Big Creek Trail, a beautiful trail which is the old Hetch Hetchy railroad bed.
Other things to note

Our favorite restaurants:
Iron Door Saloon: Oldest continuously running saloon in California.
Two Guys Pizza: Close by and great Pizza.
Cocina Michoacana: Good Mexican food
Evergreen Lodge: 45 minutes away. Turn left on Evergreen Road just before the park entrance. Go 7 miles. Best restaurant in the area! Where Len works.
Rush Creek Lodge: Just before the Yosemite Park gate. Great restaurant. Sister property to Evergreen Lodge.
Buck Meadows Restaurant: Open seasonally, 20 minutes away, but great for a good breakfast on the way to Yosemite.

Do not use GPS to get to Yosemite! Go back to Groveland and turn left on Hwy 120. Come back the same way as you have to use the Main Gate.

Yosemite National Park Big Oak Flat gate is about 30 minutes away. The 7 day entrance fee per car is $35. When you enter the park you will be given a map of the park and a newspaper outlining current events. Besides the main valley don’t miss:
Vernal Falls
Mariposa Grove Sequoias (or at least go to Tuolumne Grove)
Tunnel View
Glacier Point (closed in Winter, call the above number for current conditions)
Tioga Pass and Kennedy Meadows (closed in Winter, call the above number for current conditions)
One of my favorite shorter hikes is May Lake (or if you’re feeling fit, carry on to Mount Hoffman) off Tioga Road.

The trail at the bottom of the backyard follows Big Creek for over two miles (turn left). It was part of the Hetch Hetchy Railroad which was used to supply the materials to build the Hetch Hetchy Dam which supplies drinking water to San Francisco and the peninsular down to San Jose. It is a wonderful walk.

You may also think about visiting Hetch Hetchy. Groveland and the San Francisco peninsula get water from the reservoir there. It has a wonderful trail of about 2 miles to a beautiful waterfall. The best part is that it is not as crowded as the main part of the park. To get there take Hwy 120 and just after Rush Creek Resort (1 mile before the Park entrance) turn left onto Evergreen Road. It’s 8 miles down that road. You pass through Evergreen Lodge after 7 miles which has an amazing restaurant.

Have a Great Stay!

New Years at Yosemite
Great place for family to gather. Groveland location is a great base camp for excursions to Yosemite and the surrounding area. The home is well maintained and well stocked with kitchen items, towels and paper goods. For 6 adults, the three bathrooms made getting ready to go convenient and hot showers at the end of the day refreshing. Highly recommend this place.

About the host

Host profile image
Katie and Len are a professional couple. Len just retired from the hospitality industry managing properties for over 20 Years. Katie is a retired advertising account executive. Len is a well traveled Brit having visited or lived in over 50 countries, and is a musician who plays clarinet and sax. Katie loves to travel as well and is very involved in the local community as President of the Local Chamber of Commerce and on the Visitor's Bureau Board. They both enjoy meeting people from the United States and around the world and look forward to meeting you!

Why they chose this property

Len has lived in many countries and states and always knew he would come back to California to "settle down". After 7 years near San Francisco an opportunity to live near Yosemite came up to live in this beautiful area. Katie has lived in Twain Harte and Sonora for over 40 years and is now very involved in the community.

What makes this property unique

Pine Mountain lake is nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at an elevation of about 2,500 ft. and only a 30 minute drive to Yosemite National Park. It boasts the following amenities: The Grill Restaurant at Pine Mountain Lake, 18 Hole Championship Golf Course, Marina Store, Lakeside Cafe & Lake, 19th Hole Lounge, Pro-Shop, Swim Center, Equestrian Center, Campgrounds, Tennis & Pickle Ball Center, Lake Lodge, Fisherman's Cove, Airport, Shooting Range, Archery Range, Horseshoe Pits, Hiking & Walking Trails.

At the end of the wooded back yard the old Hetch Hetchy railroad bed crosses the end of the property which is now a beautiful 3 mile trail which runs alongside Big Creek. Besides Yosemite there are other lovely and interesting towns in the area such as Jamestown, Sonora and Murphys to explore.
