About the host
Hosted by Belinda Metcalfe
We are a farming family, who farm in the Vale of York. Now our children and grand children, enjoy the cottage and the Dales as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
Cissy's Cottage has been in our family for over 100 years. The last person to live there before we took over was an old lady called Cissy, hence its name, It was always known as Cissy's Cottage.
One of the oldest in the village, it was originally built as a shepherds dwelling, if only those thick stone walls could talk, the stories they could tell.

What makes this property unique
The open fire, beamed ceilings, flagged floors, cupboards in the wall, the stairs with a twist, low ceilings, original pine bedroom walls, a kitchen with curved round walls and crescent shaped stone shelves and work surfaces, the grass roofed coal house, the open views of the fields and fells A totally unique cottage in a beautiful land where the way of life is dictated by the natural elements, the weather and above all the hills.
