SKANEATELES LAKEHOUSE - DIRECTLY ON GORGEOUS SKANEATELES LAKE-PET-FRIENDLY
Bring your pet to this beautiful lake house which sits DIRECTLY on Skaneateles Lake, one of the most crystal clear lakes in the United States. We work on the "honor" system and believe in trusting folks so we don't charge a pet fee. The home has large picture windows with a stunning view of the lake and the majestic cliffs on the eastern side. It is 4 bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 baths with a fully renovated kitchen, a screened-in porch, central heat and air, and a fireplace. It has a fully equipped office where you can work remotely, if needed. The home has an outdoor gas grill, fire pit, and screened-in porch for outside dining. There's ample pristine waterfront for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding directly from the shore of your home (two kayaks, paddle board, and canoe provided). If you want to bring a boat or rent one at the Skaneateles Marina, there's a slip and cleats to secure your boat. Enjoy a fire at night in the firepit on the lawn by the lake under a million stars. You can also tour one of the nearby wineries and have dinner in the picturesque village of Skaneateles. People from all over the world come just to visit the charming village of Skaneateles with its cute shops, gorgeous architecture, and wonderful restaurants. In autumn, the lake is "on fire" with the color from the gorgeous fall leaves. Bed situation: A set of twin beds on the second floor; a queen bedroom on the second floor; and a king bed in the master on the first floor. Then, you take an interior staircase down to the original part of the house where you'll find a set of twin beds. You can walk out directly onto the dock from here and there is a rocky beach to your left leading into the lake. At night, you can open the windows and hear the waves lapping the shoreline. Skaneateles is a very peaceful and beautiful place.

Even in late spring with clouds, fog, and rain, this property stands out for its gorgeous views and tranquil setting. Lots of stairs to keep active, and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the location.
Fall Weekend- Canadian Thanksgiving in the Finger Lakes
Lovely stay in a big house able to hold extended family. Great views of the lake from the big windows. Lots of hiking in the area. We used the fire pit every night.
Amy is very prompt with communications. The setting is perfect - we enjoyed the lakefront views, changing leaves and amazing stars at night. Great setting for a family reunion!
What a beautiful spot for people to gather! We had a quiet , relaxing stay. Visited Skaneateles. Spent time enjoying the peacefulness of the lake. And we used the outdoor fire pit to make s'mores! If you like quiet and relaxing, then this is the place for you.
This was an excellent stay! House was spacious and clean with an unbeatable view of the lake, as well as access to the water. Nice location too, pretty remote and thus nice and quiet.
The hosts also provided a lot of documentation on the surrounding area which was very helpful!
Would definitely stay again!
Our family met up at the lake house for our yearly NY Easter. This way our two college student sons can be with us for the holiday even though they don't get an official break. This year is our last year so we thought we should go big. The house was more than we had dreamed of. The spacious kitchen, literally had everything we needed to make our holiday meal complete. The great room was equipped with comfy chairs and a couch. My youngest picked up a guitar (one of two in the house), which he hasn't done in a few years and played us a few songs. There were games to play as a family. We brought our dog along and she enjoyed looking out the huge picture window at the lake curiously. The beds were comfy, the house was amazingly quiet and well built. We have some snorers and no one heard anyone! The doors are solid. The weather was not on our side, but it was late April in NY, so you get what you get. The enclosed porch was great, even when it was pouring rain, we were able to sit out there and play a game. If we had better weather we would have taken advantage of the kayaks and other outdoor equipment. We did take a walk at a park about a 7 min drive away and saw a beautiful waterfall. This house has to be amazing in the summer, I can only imagine. The original cabin area downstairs was very cool and you could hear the lake water hit the shoreline. We had a great time, my only regret is we didn't get the weather I had hoped for.
Amy was very nice when talking about the booking. We stayed in the very early spring so the water was too cold to swim (and we knew that ahead of time - we didn't go for that, but i would consider coming back to this house in the summer when my youngest can swim). House was perfect for us but it is 20 minutes away from gas, convenience stores, and pretty much anything else you can think of so plan accordingly. We loved it and definitely would come back.
It is a beautiful house located right on the lake, and with it comes an incredible view out the large windows. It was well-appointed and so peaceful. Our communications with the owner were outstanding, as she responded quickly and was always very helpful. It is located in a region that is certainly worth exploring for both its scenic beauty and its historical importance.
This property is really great. Just as described but better! Probably one of the best we have stayed in and we visit the area frequently. Extremely clean, well stocked (and we like to cook!), and in a beautiful location. Close to Syracuse for anyone who has a kid in college and close to the beautiful village of Skaneateles. The host was very accommodating and always in communication. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed an exceptional stay! Amy was a wonderful host. It was as if every need we had was anticipated. Her home was so well stocked with anything we could think of needing on vacation. We enjoyed kayaking, playing ping pong, eating all of our meals on the screened in porch overlooking the lake and hanging out in the living room. Thank you for creating such a peaceful and rejuvenating environment.
Our 6 night stay was absolutely fantastic. The house was so beautiful, right on lake Skaneateles. The kids used the kayaks and played by the water. It was a bit cold, so no swimming on this trip.
The house was so clean and well stocked with all essentials in the kitchen and bathrooms. Check in was easy and the communication with the home owner was warm and inviting . We hope to come back soon.
Not Kidding, there are not enough words to describe how INCREDIBLE this house is! The Cleanest Most well stocked house ever! Nothing to bring but groceries and ice! We could’ve easily stayed FOREVER! You will NOT regret anything but more time here! We will be back many more times!!! AMY IS THE BEST HOST!!
The pictures on the listing don’t do this place justice on how fantastic it is! We visited during the fall when all the leaves changed and it was beautiful. The home is so cozy. Our favorite part was just hanging out in the living room together around the fireplace in the mornings and at the end of the day. The property owner was so friendly and easy to communicate with. We had some questions about the driveway and we got immediate answers. 10/10 recommend!
We had such a special time at the lake with all our loved ones.
We were able to spend quality time with everyone under one roof.
The house had everything we needed to cook, gather and rest without any worries.
It was peaceful and beautiful.
It was still too cold and the weather did not allow us to enjoy the water features.
We all would like to come back again during the summer months and enjoy the water.
The only problem we had was parking our RV at the house. The roads are very narrow and you really need a 4 wheel drive for maneuvering with a big trailer or motorhome would be really impossible to park.
All in all it was spectacular the way the house was actually situated right on the lake.
2 families spent our Thanksgiving weekend sharing good food, good times and making great memories. There was plenty of room for everyone to be together and still have space . The beds were incredibly comfortable. The views were gorgeous. The kitchen was well stocked. The great room was perfect. Peaceful and quiet yet close enough to go to the Dickens Festival. Pure bliss! The hosts were great communicators before and during our stay. Very responsive! Very accommodating! Very nice people. The house was decorated with endless cool items that always deserved a second look. Very clean.
Lovely home, all amenities you can think off. Kitchen and bathroom well stocked. Great communication with host Amy about checking in. Enjoyed the kayaks, nice quality life jackets and water shoes. Plenty of hiking nearby with our dog. We ventured into Homer a 25 min ride and loved this quaint little village. Bev and Co best ladies boutique. Went on an unexpected shopping spree. The Exchange, a new fine dining restaurant had delicious food was another unexpected surprise for this small town. Amy’s place in a great location. Close enough to bustling little towns but in a peaceful lakeside setting.
First visit to finger lakes area and the house fit our needs perfectly. We especially appreciated the screened porch and use of paddle board and kayak. The lake was uncrowded in early June making for a peaceful stay. Carpenter Falls very close with lovely hike to falls. Hosts responded quickly to a few questions. The house is not near town but for us that was not an issue as only about 30 min drive. We found it easy to venture out to area state parks and even ventured to Cooperstown to Baseball Hall of Fame about a 2 hour drive on rural roads.
We could not have been happier staying at this lovely house with such a gorgeous view of the lake. The house was immaculate and contained everything we needed for a week long stay. Never heard any neighbors. We used the information booklet to plan many enjoyable walks with our dogs and to try some of the restaurants in town. All were wonderful. Took a tour of the William Seward house and really enjoyed it. Anyela’s vineyard was lovely and close by. There’s a HABA toys outlet in Skaneateles where we found great gifts for the grandkids. Amy is a gem and made sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. We have stayed at many rentals and this one by far had the most extras provided. Used the kayaks one afternoon and enjoyed seeing other houses on the lake. Also did the Judge Ben Wiles tour and recommend it. We love to travel with our dogs and really appreciated being able to bring them. Thanks Amy, from two very happy travelers!
The location and home itself are beautiful! The decorating is upscale and comfortable, but not stodgy. The view is spectacular! The main level is up one level from the water, so it looks like you are on a boat all the time. The architecture is spectacular, and we wondered repeatedly how they were able to build it since it was built on and descending a cliff. That does mean there are lots of stairs.
We spent a lot of time on the little piece of lawn at lake level. It is so serene and beautiful.
The kitchen is well-equipped, as is the rest of the place. The linens are plentiful and of good quality. The internet is robust enough to handle devices at once. The bed selection was perfect for our group: a king suite, a large queen bedroom, and a room with 2 twins. The mattresses (as of October 2023) were extremely comfortable.
We loved the place and are planning on returning next year.
For drawbacks that may affect some potential renters: If anyone in your group has difficulty with going up and down stairs, this is not the place for you. But for us, it was perfect! Another potential issue for renters is that the road down to the house is steep, narrow, and - in one direction- contains a hairpin turn. Thus, if you have a vehicle that is very low to the ground or is oversized (like a Suburban) you are going to have to be very careful. We had Subarus and had no difficulty.
Our stay at the lake house was wonderful. A beautiful October weekend. We enjoyed the house and lake
Amy the host is very kind. Lake house very beautiful and fully equipped. Beautiful October weekend, we enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the lake. We would most definitely recommend this lake house.
We had an amazing time here. The hosts were wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of. The property is on the clearest lake we ever saw. We enjoyed bonfires and stargazing each night.
