Central Bar Harbor. One block from shore path and village green.
The Stork’s Nest is so called because long ago it was the town's maternity hospital. It is attached to Arbor House (separate listing with 2 bed and one bath) yet is private and distinct. Together the houses comprise Derby Lane Cottages. Storks’s Nest has its own entrance, porch and large yard. It is steps to shopping and dining and a short walk to the free Island Explorer bus with service for all of Acadia National Park. Use this as your base to explore the beauty of the area, as well as the variety of traditional New England villages such as Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Somesville. Take the ferry to Nova Scotia, kayak in the protected bays and estuaries, hike the mountains, bike the carriage trails, or go on a whale-watching adventure. We do all the cleaning and maintenance ourselves and live nearby year round. This house is over 150 years old and does not have AC but the proximity to the ocean typically keeps the area cool. No smoking on the property.
