About this property

Wood Nestled King Cabin near Olympics & Straits

This cozy wooded cabin near Olympic National Park and the Ocean Straits, is situated just 10 minutes from Port Angeles and the Victoria, BC Ferry. The cabin is in a secluded area with a private driveway and was designed with elegance and comfort in mind. Enjoy an indoor fireplace, BBQ grill on your private outside deck, or take a walk on a nearby trail in the Olympic Forest. The cabin features 1 bedroom with a King bed, a sleeping loft with a twin bed and a pull out sofa in the living room along with a large refrigerator and fully-stocked kitchen (dishes, appliances, utensils and spices) so you can cook from the comfort of home. There are walking trails on the property to the river below, and we are situated in the middle of the national park with the ocean straits and town of Port Angeles (and the Victoria, Canada ferry) just 6 miles away.

The house is owned by our Elwha campground that is just a short walk up from the house. Because you are near our campground, you also have access to all our amenities. We have a complimentary garden, laundry room, complimentary DVD library, pet sitting (by donation), Cabana, outdoor games (including volleyball and basketball) and a small gift store for last minute needs or souvenirs.

Spring usually lasts from March - June when the snow begins to melt and the plants begin to flower. Average highs temps range from 51-65 degrees F. Summer is July, August and September when the snow on the mountains is gone and the area is vibrant with greenery and sunny days. This is the driest season when the lavender farms are in bloom and the average high temperature is 66-69 degrees. October is the main month for autumn when the leaves change into stunning yellows and reds, the air becomes crisp and cool with high temps around 57 and the first couple freezing days make their appearance along with a popular Crab Festival. November - February brings winter weather with a high temperature range of 46-50 and overnight lows consistently in the 30's. The area averages 36 inches of rain a year and 3 inches of snow.

Whatever season you choose, the cabin is the perfect gateway to the Wonderment of the Olympic Peninsula with friendly, involved hosts happy to help you plan your time and advise you on all the area has to offer. Convenient, clean, comfortable
This was our first time to the Pacific Northwest. We stayed here at the suggestion of friends and it was just lovely. The cabin has several little touches that made it a perfect place for our little family. I am glad we went to the cabin before purchasing groceries so we could see what was already there. Our one 'not so great' thing was how close the cabin is to the highway. We did hear cars early in the morning, so it's not quite as secluded as we thought. Don't let that deter you from staying. The staff was friendly upon check-in and the cabin was clean. Thanks for helping make our first visit memorable!

Nice and cozy
Very nice cabin a short drive to Olympic NP. Bedroom & family room nice size. Secluded back deck. A little road noise but quiet at night. Couldn’t see road, just hear during day but most of our time was spent at the park. Kitchen small/compact but sufficient. I’d stay here again.

Enjoyed our cabin!
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was a little closer to the highway than expected, despite the woods, but the road noise wasn’t too bad. We saw local deer grazing blackberries in the yard and loved the little path over to the campground and taking advantage of the greenhouse/garden onsite. We wish we could’ve stayed longer! Only other thing I’d mention - it said in listing there is a Keurig, however we did not see one there. That being said, there was loose coffee provided for the coffee pot, so we didn’t go without!

Perfect getaway!
The cabin was sweet and nicely tucked away in the trees. So cozy and inviting. The firepit was such a highlight after a day at the beach.

David and Chris manage this property and campground resort with their family who are caring people and eager to serve. They say it still feels like yesterday when they searched over a year to find the perfect property. "It was hard to find a place that has the best of all worlds, but here at the Elwha it seems we do: It has a peaceful healing vibe, with majesty all around. Mountain peaks stand in the distance and the splendor of the forest, lakes, waterfalls, Strait of Juan De Fuca and ocean are mere minutes away. A Victoria, BC international experience is just a boat ride away and all around you is a community of service that suits a family's needs. Port Angeles truly is a unique place."
