Our family of 12 had a great week at this house. The location is ideal. It's on a sandbar that goes out about 600 ft from shore. Great for kids swimming. The Betsie Valley trail runs right next to the house which is great for biking, running/walking. And the dam is next to the property which is fun to play in.
The house was very clean upon arrival and stocked with everything we needed including kayaks and yard games. Terry was very helpful answering a few questions we had during our stay. The house had plenty of room for all of us. It is a bit of an odd floor plan for a house on a lake but we got used to it.
We rented a tri-toon for the week and had a blast on the lake. This was our first time on Crystal Lake and lets just say it's the best inland lake we've ever been too. The water was a comfortable temp and it's crystal clear. You almost feel like you're in the Caribbean. There are plenty of places to eat and shop close by in Frankfort. Great house and an even better location. We'll be back soon hopefully. Thanks Terry!

Rocky start to Family vacation
The location is great… lake and proximity to bike trails and Beulah/Frankfort. The biggest problem was that I was not given the info to access the property. We waited for 2.5 hours with everyone anxious and starving. No response from property manager for pushing 3 hours despite many calls, messages and texts. He said vrbo was supposed to send it to me but the entire time the site said access not given yet. Even if vrbo was to send the info, the property manager should be available at check in time. To add insult to injury he NEVER gave the least apology… even said “… well the access code is in the kitchen.” Seriously, if we don’t have the code, how are we to get something in the kitchen. At that fee, he should be able to be available at check in for just this reason. We had already spent an hour trying to find space in a hotel.
Take note of the odd bedroom set up.
In addition, we got lucky that we had cooler weather because the air conditioning did not work well, especially in the upstairs. It explains why each room has a standing fan.
Location , views and lake were great despite the rough start.

Response from VrboOwner on 16 Sept 2023
Dear guest,
We’re very sorry that you don’t recall receiving access and information sheet 30days prior to your stay. This is sent through the VRBO website when renting through VRBO. Most concerned guests would’ve reached out prior to their journey in the event something like this were to happen. Yes the home has a slightly unusual layout, architecture was built with the exterior views in mind and not so much the inside. As the 2nd owner, our thoughts were, it’s a summer home, enjoy the outdoors part of the place. We also made sure you were aware of the “in repair” upstairs A/C unit. What you also didn’t state is we did our best to temporarily fix this with a portable ac unit. Things break down and this day and age replacement parts tend to take longer to get than previous years unless your oblivious to current events. I doubt you were starving if you could afford such a luxurious home as this. Every room has a fan for convenience purposes, some people actually like to open the windows for fresh air. Again, I’m sorry that your week was filled with sunshine, warm weather and cooler nights. We happened to have a family emergency out of state at the time of your arrival to the home and sorry for the inconvenience this dealt you with.
Your property was the foundation of a wonderful vacation week for our three generational family group. The home's interior features suited us well. The beach, location, natural beauty and convenient proximity were all pluses. Note no hall access to the two upstairs bathrooms for the bedroom/loft that sleeps 8. One must walk through one of the other three upstairs bedrooms to reach these bathrooms. Thank you for opening your home to us.
This house is clean and accommodating with up-to-date appliances and amenities. The lake has crystal clear water and a long shallow area which accommodated our 4- 10 Year olds. The sand area was an unexpected surprise and also delighted the younger set. Sleeping Bear Dunes made for a great day trip.
