We spent Thanksgiving at this beautiful 1770s stone farmhouse with our extended family — five bedrooms, two spacious kitchens, and plenty of space for all of us to spread out comfortably. For Thanksgiving dinner, we cooked together using the fully equipped kitchens, and there was more than enough room at the big dining table for everyone. The combination of history, peaceful farmland views, and cozy comforts made this place feel like a “home away from home.”
The house and property is beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed are stay. Beds were very comfortable and the host thought of everything from a well-stocked kitchen to delicious moon pies, shoofly pie, and fresh eggs awaiting our arrival. There are lots of hiking trails nearby and Lancaster is only a short drive away, but there’s barely a reason to leave the property!
The property is beautiful and very secluded. Massive areas to roam and relax. The house is modern and equipped with all of the essentials. The hosts were friendly and available but respected our privacy.
This is a beautiful, historic property in a very special part of the country. The amenities and grounds were all as described and first rate. We definitely recommend to anyone planning a stay in the area, or anyone just looking to get away from it all.
We had a great stay here- looks just like the pictures. Lots of space inside the house to spread out, and the kids had a lot of fun in the creek and roaming outside. Would recommend.
This property is exactly as the pictures show. Absolutely beautiful. Host is very very responsive and super quick to help. Not at all overbearing. Stayed an entire week and loved every minute. Had 6 adults and an 11 year old. Relatively close to all attractions but out of the way and quiet. Love the chickens!!
Annual family get together celebrating wife/mother/ grandmother's birthday.
Amazing house with location and Amanda the host goes out of her way to make sure your stay the best experience you could ask for. On arrival greeted with home made pie and other treats waiting for you. Cannot say enough about how incredibly our stay was. The whole family wants to make it a yearly event.
We had such an amazing stay at your home Amanda! It was so spacious, clean and not far from town. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome with the treats and the Prosecco you left for us, and also just for the “homey” feel in the house! Thank you for everything! We would love to stay again in the future!
We six women gathered here for a 50th reunion of college friends from Penn State. The house is lovely, spacious, clean, and well-equipped. We really enjoyed the beautiful farm, and the fresh eggs. I think our only regret was that we hadn't planned to stay longer!
We loved our time at Climber's Run. The house was a great fit for our weekend with extended family and the outdoor space was magical for the kids. They played in the stream, visited the chickens and roasted marshmallows on the fire pit. Amanda was a wonderful host, very responsive and helpful when we had questions. We look forward to returning soon!
This is the second time we have been here for the weekend, and hope to return again! We all had a wonderful time; the hosts are extremely friendly, the house is clean and beautifully painted, there are games inside and lovely grounds outside to explore. Thank you Amanda!

Thank you for your kind review! We enjoyed having your family back and hope to see you again in the future. Warmest wishes!
We gathered as a family for Thanksgiving and a celebration of life. This historic house was the perfect size for large family meals and we appreciated that dogs were welcome.
Hosts are kind, responsive and thoughtful.
This home is breathtaking with its stone walls and open (well stocked) upstairs kitchen area. Bedrooms are cosy and well decorated. There are great trails nearby and chickens right out the window for your viewing pleasure! Worth every one of the 5 stars!
Great central location for myself and my two son's family. The weekend was all about the kids, going to Dutch Wonderland one day and the Turkey Hill Experience on the other. Our hosts were friendly with great communication. The property was beautiful and well maintained with plenty of land to roam The house was clean with room for all. Great weekend. Thank you!
This house is stunning - the pictures are spot on. Everything was in great working order. The host was welcoming and communicated often as needed. We were given more time to check out since nobody was checking in after us which was helpful as we had a small impromptu wedding during the stay. It was great for pictures. We left something behind and she immediately contacted us to offer a solution to return the item. We would love to stay here again.
Our visit here was too short! This trip was a multi-generational family trip and the property was a perfect relaxing atmosphere. I really enjoyed the personal touches the host provided. Setting the music and having lights on for our night time arrival was so welcoming. The house is spotless and kitchen well equipped. The fresh eggs and goodies put this stay over the top. We also took advantage of the offer to have a small fire to sit outside and stargaze. We were blessed to see the Aurora Borealis that evening making a really nice end to our trip.
We had a great time at the house! It’s a lovely place to just hang with family or friends. We had a group of 10 with kids and adults. There was plenty of space inside and outside. We had everything we needed and the home was well kept and clean. The shoofly pie was a hit and the kids loved seeing the chickens. We appreciated that Amanda was available if needed but was also happy to give us our space. We’ll be back again if we are in Lancaster!
The house at Climber's Run is a historical treasure and is maintained so beautifully. We had such a wonderful time! My kids loved feeding the chickens, and getting to eat their eggs, walking through the creek and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. The grounds and house are both absolutely stunning. We so appreciated all the toys and games for the children. The bedrooms are all tastefully decorated in a charming and cozy way. Amanda and Brandon are wonderful hostesses. This house is worth a trip from anywhere.
The home is very historical and immaculately clean! The decorative touches are just perfect and the hosts are very sweet and helpful. Our Bible study group of 8 stayed and had the best time. We sat out under the covered porch in the evening and watched the lightening storm swoop across the property. The beds were all extremely comfortable. The basement family room sat us all while we played games and was just so cozy. Property is within 10 min of grocery store and the kitchen is stocked with everything imaginable. The chickens were fun to watch and benefited from our breakfast leftovers.

About the host
Hosted by Amanda Clare
Both born and raised in Lancaster County, each only a few miles from where we currently live, we left Lancaster in 2006 when Brandon joined the U.S. Navy. We have lived in Virginia Beach, Augusta Georgia, Monterey California, and Kapolei Hawaii (while making a short stop, somewhere along the way, in Pensacola Florida to complete some training and have a baby - the first of 3). After Hawaii we returned to Lancaster to be near our families once again, while Brandon makes the long daily commute to the Baltimore area where he continues to be active duty. As for me? I run a vacation rental now, :) as I do some weekly volunteer work, and care for our home and 3 school-aged children
Why they chose this property
We purchased our home (a former grist mill built in 1770) about two years ago. It was, for us, a dream come true that exceeded our wildest imagination. We thought we were purchasing our dream home. But what we discovered in the days and weeks after moving in, was that it is so much more than just a dream HOME. It's a whole perfect package. lying in bed to the sound of the stream from the open windows! The ethereal fog that lays in the valley each morning of summer! The bullfrogs croaking by the pond! Relaxing with a glass of wine on the porch swing by the stream! The brilliance of the stars, so bright! The breathtaking display of the sun as it sets! The beauty. The quiet. The serenity. It truly is the most remarkable of places. So much more than just a home, it's an entire experience in every sense. We feel so blessed to call it home and we are so thrilled and honored to be able to share "our valley" with you!
