Come enjoy the beauty of the "Purple Starfish". Beautiful 1889 Cape May Victorian Home 0.8 miles from Beach. House has 3 private bedrooms and 2+ full bathrooms. Wrap around porch to sit and relax after a fun day at the Beach or enjoy the sunsets on the huge rooftop deck.

Need more space we also have a 1 bed apt. available for rent on the property that will accommodate 4 more people. The Apt is under VRBO #7575306

This beautiful Victorian was gut renovated and updated again in the Spring of 2019 and the exterior painted in 2020. The inside feels like new construction while the outside stills reflects the old world charm of the late 1800's. This family friendly home is a short .8mi to the beach (4min bike ride or 12-15min walk), and on a main street with many restaurants and shops. This block also has plenty of on street parking. You are just about guaranteed a spot right out front. Not being on a beach block has its benefits. Parking will never be an issue and traffic is less likely farther north on the island. Most of our neighbors are year round residents, so you will be sure to have a relaxing vacation at the beach. This is a corner house with a great wrap around porch and large second floor deck for your enjoyment.

We have a beach box at the end of Broadway for the summer season to store all of your beach gear, so you do not have to lug it back and forth everyday. If you don't want to bring Linens or Towels, check out linenladies.com for complete linen service for your rental stay. (approx cost is $100/week).

This home is equipped with a gas grill, central air, WiFi, cable with 3 flatscreens downstairs and TV's in both 2nd floor bedrooms. There is a bluetooth house stereo.

WE PROVIDE blankets and pillows, a fully equipped, spacious, eat-in gourmet kitchen including a Sub-Zero refrigerator, JenAir range, Whirlpool dishwasher, microwave, Mr Coffee with filters, wine fridge and 2 sinks. kitchen also comes with silverware, glasses, china, pots/pans and cooking utensils.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, beach towels, hand towels, washcloths, beach chairs and beach gear, laundry soap, hand soap, dish soap. If you don't want to bring linens, check out linenladies.com for linen rentals.

The first floor: large gourmet eat in chefs kitchen with huge farmhouse table which comfortably seats 8 and island which seats 4, a sun room with a couch that converts to a queen, living room with sleeper queen sofa, full bathroom/laundry room. Kitchen is equipped with Mr Coffee with filters.

The second floor: Master bedroom with steam shower jacuzzi tub,TV, two queen beds and 1 single. An additional bedroom with one queen bed. A separate full bathroom.
Third floor: loft bedroom with two twin beds.

The house has bedrooms that sleeps 9 with an additional sleeping for 1 more on fold out couch (10
totol).

NOT INCLUDED in rental but 1 bedroom apartment that sleeps 4 on the property with private separate entrance available for an additional fee:
Bedroom (1 queen), 1 bath(shower no tub), full kitchen, living/dinning(sofa bed), patio and Small porch.

Minimum 1 week rental during the summer.

Minimum 3 night rental the rest of the year.

*Weekly Rentals are Saturday-Saturday only!

* The outdoor shower is shared with the apartment.

We stayed at Donna’s beautiful home for the Cape May Christmas parade with our family and young children. It was absolutely perfect! The house was big, beautiful and clean! The Purple Starfish is a charming, beautiful, and well-appointed home. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is magnificent. Everything we were hoping for

We have been staying in cape May for many years and this is by far the best house we have stayed at to date. Myself and my husband as well as my grown children and my 3 year old grandson all agree we think we found the place we should stay at every year. The house has everything we needed and more. The location was close enough to walk to shops and restaurants as well as the beach but far enough that you felt you weren’t in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The house was beautifully updated and decorated and felt like home. The host was very responsive.

A beautiful house

This house is beautiful, big, very well kept, and clean. We had a great stay. but here are a few notable points that may be helpful to others: 1) house is best for adults/older kids. we came with two 1 year olds and it worked out better than I feared but not ideal. The walk to the beach is probably doable for adults but with a family you still need to drive. 2) the listing is clear about this but I did not like having to bring our own linens, particularly after having to pay such a large cleaning fee. The checkout to-do list was also a little more onerous than I would prefer. 3) house layout is a little weird. Only 2 toilets but 3 showers + a tub in a bedroom which also sleeps 5 people. The picture show this clearly but it’s confusing when you are looking at them.

The house is beautiful and worked well for our needs. There were books and games for the kids and plenty of parking. The one thing to be wary of are the narrow upstair hallways which have light fixtures protruding from the walls. My tall husband smacked his head on one of them. Otherwise, great stay!

I grew up in Delaware County, PA and met my husband at Penn State University. He is from Pittsburgh and Cape May is the one thing we always agree on! We have been vacationing in Cape May since we were married in 1990. We have watched this great town evolve other the years, and it has been truly exciting to watch. It has been our dream to purchase a home here, giving us the opportunity share our our passion for this unique destination with others. We hope you fall in love with this beautiful seaside resort just as we did when we were young!

Why they chose this property

It was important for us to find a property that captured the true flavor and spirit of Cape May. A victorian style home was a must if we were truly going to share the experience, tradition and splendor this area has to offer. There is something special about a victorian home that takes you back, and takes you away. We are working tirelessly to bring this house back to historic charm.
