Perfect for a large group

Hosted for a laid back bachelor party with a large group of 10+ people and this place was perfect for it. Plenty of rooms/beds and space to hang out. Easy to get lost in the house and everyone enjoyed the amenities.

Loved This Place!

Stayed here this summer for a family vacation. Absolutely could not have asked for a better experience. Owners were very nice and responsive to all questions we had. The house was huge and absolutely amazing! Great yard and lake access, and close enough to town that you can go there if need be. Would absolutely recommend this house for a large group trip!

Awesome House!

This house is awesome! Myself and 18 guys stayed here on a golf trip. We had a ton of space and really enjoyed the hot tub and game room. The location was close to several nice courses and was only 15 minutes away from GR. The owner, Frank, was also extremely accommodating by getting us in last minute for the reservation, assisting with special rates from local courses, and getting us a great price on a party bus through his limo company. Highly recommend this place to large groups.

Can’t wait to come back

This was an awesome place to stay for family and friends, they had everything you would need to enjoy your time on the property from fishing rods, canoes, heat pool, jacuzzi, bar /game room, etc. the only problem we had was the 3 upper level rooms because there is no real privacy the way the rooms are set up. But everything else was almost perfect.❤️

Had a great weekend here!

This property was nothing short of amazing. The pictures on this site do not do this house justice in terms of its interior space and overall extremely high quality. Me and some friends organized a date weekend here, and everyone had a great time. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived and very well maintained. About 15-20 minutes away is an area with a lot of shopping, and a wide range of restaurants including some very nice places. The owner as well as his representative were very easy to work with, and always responded promptly to any questions I had. I would without doubt recommend this property to any medium to large size groups, and will definitely keep it in mind for my future plans.

A great family weekend had by all!

We stayed for a family wedding at this luxury waterfront property . This home really served us! We had a large number of family coming together from outside the Grand Rapids area for the event and we wanted something more intimate than a hotel. Frank and his team took care of all our needs and made the stay an enjoyable one for all. The house is expansive, so we spent some fun times with the kids exploring around the multi-levels. We enjoyed morning coffee on the decks and evenings under the stars in the hot tub! We wish we could have spent more time at the home so we could have enjoyed the property more. We didn't have a lot of lake time due to our schedules and the cooler weather, but the waterfront is very nice and the fall colors were wonderful!

The captain and his crew very happy thank you

The captain and his crew were very happy we stayed at this very nice facility and went out to Lake Michigan on a yacht beautiful. We came back hang out by the fire the next morning I went to bed thinking for Xbox 360 and then went fishing and cook our salmon from Lake Michigan but a perfect spot hot tub rocks. Love the stars from 4th deck we are very happy please extend us a discount as we want to be part of the email subscription. One problem we had was a little bit of rain, we can get over that. We had to settle for these dates as many of the others already booked we will plan ahead next time thank you Thank you

A massive home that served our big group!

We stayed at this luxury waterfront property for a family wedding. We had a large number of family coming together from outside the Grand Rapids area for the event and we wanted something more intimate than a hotel. This home really served us! We had a great time exploring the home with the little kids and enjoying the decks & hot tub for the beautiful evenings. We only wish we didn't have so much going on away from the home so we could have enjoyed the property more. My son was able to do some fishing, but otherwise, we didn't have a lot of lake time due to our schedules and the cooler weather. The waterfront is very nice and the fall colors were wonderful! Vacation to remember

We stayed at this location in June and I couldn't be more happy. My wife's family does an annual family trip and this was the perfect house to fit our group. We had around 40 people in one house and we never felt crammed. The house had everything we needed to make our trip fantastic. There are stores really close so we did our grocery shopping the day we arrived and had plenty of space to keep everything in the kitchen. There was a bed for everyone and they were very comfortable. We loved the place so much that we have decided to absolutely come back for our family trip again next summer. Frank is so amazing to work with and makes the process so easy and they are so accommodating. It was great to hear that they have continue to make updates to the house to make it even better. We cannot wait to go back

Fire escape

We enjoyed our time away. One thing is bothering me since our get away though. As I laid awake the second or third morning that we were there in the upstairs bedroom, I thought... what escape route would I go if there was a fire. The stairs leading to the level below is there. But if the fire is coming up the steps, no escape. The master suite has a balcony, but the outdoor steps to the level below were closed off. The fourth story bedroom with mini kitchen also had a balcony, overlooking the lake. But on our walk through, we were told not to go on the balcony because it was not safe. This was not a recent thing...she stated she did not know why it wasn’t getting fixed. Glad we are home safe & sound. I would feel bad if something happened & I didn’t say anything.

Campau Bonding

We had a problem. We needed a place to house 28 collegiate female rugby players, two males coaches and two team moms for the National Sweet 16 and Elite 8 playoffs. We also wanted a place that promoted more team bonding than the typical cubicles that hotel rooms provide. To this end, Campau Heaven was the perfect place. It provided rooms and beds for everyone, privacy if needed, but also big space where everyone could hang out. With ample bathrooms, cooking space and laundries, we had everything we needed to be self sufficient - not having to go out to eat for meals. The accommodations were very comfortable, fun to stay in and perfect for focussing on championship games. In addition, the electronic services allowed the players to continue with their homework during their down time. We found Frank and the people at 4rentmi.com to be very, very helpful in addressing our specific needs. If the playoffs are held in Grand Rapids again, we will certainly be returning to Campau Heaven. BTW, we won both games and are now headed for the Final Four! Thanks for the stay. Don't waste the money not worth it very dirty

The indoor pool in the pictures is the local ymca 4 miles away. Neither hot tubs were working so should have gotten a reduced rate. Charged me for to possible guests who never came but would not refund me. The house was so filthy when we arrived we had to clean before unpacking. Communication with the host was confusing and unorganized. The outdoor stairs to upper level are unsafe and obviously the host knows this as they are blocked off. We had to pick up cigarette butts all over the place so our grandchildren wouldn't touch them. The back yard had old dog poop all over. The host was extremely rude and uncooperative. We cleaned his home and left it cleaner than when we arrived and he still wants me to pay a cleaning fee. He definitely does not have a cleaning crew! Do not waste your money here it's way over priced!

A Great Location for Big Groups

This was a GREAT house for our family. In total we comfortably housed 10 adults and 9 children. Having three levels of living space really opened up the stay for our kids to play without being overbearing on the adults that wanted to visit. The bunk room and the secret passage to the attic were loved by the children. Through trap doors in the ceiling, kids are able to climb from their bunk bed into a playroom in the attic. Our kids just loved it. The only reason I did not give this house 5 stars is because of the state of some of the beds. Some of them came without proper covers and were poorly made when we arrived. This wasn't a huge deal for us since our kids were all so excited to visit and have sleepovers with their cousins, but this is a simply fix that would make for a better experience. Some of the beds were not extremely comfortable either but in general we really enjoyed our stay. The House is located within short driving distance of Grand Rapids (about a 5-20 minute ride depending on where you are going in the city) and the lake setting is very beautiful. We enjoyed our stay, and would not hesitate to recommend Campau Heaven to any large groups that need a place to stay. The owner (Frank) was great, and very accommodating. He is very attentive and seeks to make sure that his guests have a wonderful stay at the lake house.

Luxury resort? NOT

In addition to the below mentioned review of this non Luxury resort. I would like to add that the "linens" that scratched like sandpaper also had a difficult time staying on the bed as I slept, thank goodness I brought my own pillow from home because two of theirs together still didn't compare. The towels, let's just say I have better towels in my rag pile - they were old worn out thin towels mixed with beach towels. Faucet handles fell off in one bathroom. The kitchen had pots and pans that I am pretty sure came from the 1940s , and the few that came from this century were either filthy or broken. Trying to contact anyone for help from the rental company was always leaving a message on voicemail and we would receive a text message instead of a call back. Over all we were extremely frustrated and disappointed in the rental because the condition of the home was not as it appears in the pictures. We had family travel in from multiple states for this joint family vacation, and the disappointment was a hard pill to swallow. We ended the trip with an email to the owners - and two weeks have passed and we have heard nothing.

Great house, but needs to be cleaned, organized and updated.

Pros: There were plenty of beds and the linens were very organized and clean. The property itself was at a dead end street with direct water access. The owners and maintenance staff were easy to get a hold of and responded right away to any questions we had. There were in fact two hot tubs which our group really enjoyed, although both hot tubs definitely needed to have water treated. The sand volleyball court is awesome and kept all the teens and adults busy. They have a nice washer dryer, plenty of bathrooms and showers and two full-size kitchens. Cons: there were definitely some aesthetic improvements that could be made. There were lots of knickknacks setting out as well as tons and tons of pictures hanging on the wall. When you expect 30 people to be at the house knickknacks just get in the way. Also, there was no access to a pantry or anywhere to put food other than directly on the countertops. There were lots of outdoor toys to play with like bats and wiffleball‘s etc. but items were stored underneath the outdoor stairs and things were disorganized, broken and gave a cluttered junky feel. Although several grills were available for use, not a single one had propane. The lake was nice and we brought our own JetSki but wonder was completely falling apart and sinking into the muddy bottom. It is not A lakefront where you could let little kids play in the water. They would literally sink in the mud. One of our friends is 6’4” and he walked out 10 feet into the water and almost got stuck in mud mid thigh. The cabinets were nearly full with leftover items from previous groups. For example, salt and pepper, quarter bags of sugar, random stuff like that. The drawers seemed very disorganized with many many duplicates of items shoved in random locations. We would consider staying there again potentially but the place needs someone to go thru and get rid of all the junk inside and out.

Unacceptable Rental

I rented this home for a corporate retreat. I brought 13 of my company's top executives to spend 3 nights of relaxation, fun, and team building. To start, I received a call 3 days prior to my arrival stating the remaining balance was due for the rental. I explained to the person on the phone (Carl, I think) that I'd mailed a $2,000 check and had received an email from Kim stating I was paid in full. He asked for a copy of the check and I sent. Then, on my way to MI, I was told I couldn't check in until 5pm, I explained my reservation states, in writing that I could check in at 2pm. When we arrived at the house, the cleaners were finishing up, which was fine. They were very nice and were working very hard. However, you cannot clean up an entire summer's worth of filth in a few hours. They did what they could to surface clean, but the house is in such bad shape. The couches are both broken, blinds broken, windows dirty, ceiling fans covered in dust & dirt, all faucets and shower heads have so much lime build up that there are only a few weak streams of water coming out. The icemaker upstairs is broken, the fridge barely keeps food cold. Trees growing out of the gutters, dock is broken and unsafe, mold on the exterior siding, grease everywhere around the grill, trash outside, broken children's toys. Honestly, the only thing that wasn't in disrepair is the hot tub. As the planner of this corporate retreat, I am embarrassed. My employees deserved better than a filthy, broken down house. The owner has sent me emails and texts asking me to submit a review. I assured him he should be careful what he asks for and gave him a run down of issues. His response was that I should have called someone from the rental agency. Problem is, these issues couldn't have been repaired fast enough to make a difference for my group. I hope this review shows the owner he should be visiting the house himself on a regular basis. I think he'd be shocked.

Beware

VRBO has been notified of our Issues with this Listing/Property, which was filed June 2022. These issues can still be seen in other reviews since our stay. Unfortunately, the problems remain. #1: Indoor Camera in Kitchen on highest Cabinet: (Illegal to have Indoor cameras per VRBO policy). In a previous remark to a review in 2015, the owners stated, that he did have an indoor camera "above the stove, facing the sliding door." Were there other cameras we did not find? #2: Misrepresentation of Property: Misleading Listing: Pictures of Indoor Pool in Listing. No such pool at this property. It is the FIRST listed Amenity. Under the Amenities, it does not state that it is off site. Currently there is an obscure disclaimer on the picture of the pool "add-on indoor pool may be on or off site options and fees may apply/not shared" There is NO INDOOR POOL ON THIS SITE. When discussed with owner, he said there would be an above ground pool at the end of the street for our use by the end of the week. NO SUCH POOL APPEARED. Also was told to look in the binder to find out how to get to the pool. Information not there. Very disappointed children and adults. -Listing photos show 4 large screen TV's in Family area, only one is actually there. -Photos on listing are old, and do not really show what you are getting. #3: Safety Issues: -Outdoor Railings and stairs unsafe/rickety. They have placed signs in plastic sleeves about, which read "Please do not lean on, hang on, push or sit on railings at any time" That is because they would fall over. Also tough for kids who can not yet read. -Exposed wiring in Family room area. Dangerous tangled web of wires. Especially for kids. Fire hazard? -Wooden dock, falling into lake. Unsafe to walk on. Was reported as an issue in July 2019. It is still there. -Steps from main level deck to upper level blocked. Unsafe too? #4: Cleanliness: -Filthy grills -Bloody stained sheets on bed -Ripped mattress pads in use -Dirty carpets -Overall, not very clean. The housekeeper was still there on our arrival at 4:30pm. I'm sure they try, it is a big house, but must need more staff to get it all done? Many other issues. Have used VRBO for years and am disappointed in this experience and in the lack of response from the Corporate VRBO thus far. *Also please check other negative reviews. The Owner has a history of giving harsh criticisms to those who give heartfelt honest reviews.

Needs some Work

A lot of work is needed done on the property as well as the advertisement. It said that there was a indoor pool which was not accurate. When we asked about the pool we were pointed to a yellow house with an above ground home pool, not what was advertised. Also spoke about 2 hot tubs yet the only one working was the one outside. The grills were filthy. They did not look like they had been cleaned in years. Water hose was thrown on the ground and some of the chairs were broken. The house looked like a party house and the carpets were dirty and the railing was very shaky. The area was very nice but the upkeep of the house is not being done. I would only recommend this house to a bunch of college partying kids who wake up not knowing or caring what the place they stay at looks like.

A very poorly maintained house!!

One outdoor stairway was closed because it was ready to fall off the house and the other stairway was in very poor condition. The hot and cold controls in all of the bathrooms were installed wrong. The pool was located several miles away from the house. The 2 hot tubs were not functioning. The docks were in a poorer condition than outdoor stairways. The owner was a poor communicator. The owner flat out lied to us about several items in the house.

Bachelorette

Very spacious. Group of 20 plus had plenty of room. Beach ok- this is the reason for 4 stars. Very mucky. Had to call for toilet paper and trash bags. Nothing major and host was responsive.

Great place to vacation for a big group.

We rented this place to house our larger family group with kids. It turned out to be perfect for us. With super large table, the many different sleeping options and rooms made our stay one for the books. We were confused about there being a crib for an infant there, but the management got us a Pack N Play which worked out good. Plenty of stuff to do with all the games, kayaks, fishing poles, and volleyball, and spas. We were never bored. Feels like your away from it all but close enough to town if you forgot something. Owner attended to our needs and maintenance technician Mark was awesome. Thanks again!

Memories to last a lifetime

This lakehouse was rented for an after Prom weekend for seniors and parent chaperones. It was the perfect choice, The tiki bar, huge hot tub, volleyball and lake are just a few of the amenities that made our experience so great. All these good friends were able to celebrate together in one house and made enough memories to last a lifetime especially for kids who got robbed of most of their high school experience due to Covid. The property management team is very easy to work with and deserve a 5-star rating. We already can’t wait to book again.
