Explore the area's top attractions, from the Bodie Island Lighthouse to the NC Aquarium, or embark on a thrilling 4x4 adventure. Fishing enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with easy access to Oregon Inlet, local piers, and the renowned Bonner Bridge fishing pier. A fish cleaning station is provided, and beach fishing permits are readily available. Many places offer 10 day fishing permits (Ocean East Tackle store is the closest on the causeway). You can also order your permit online at https://www.eregulations.com/northcarolina/fishing/fishing-licenses. Plus, enjoy scenic walks and bike rides on the paved path behind the house. Why we chose South Nags Head: Our family has been coming to the outer banks for many years and South Nags Head is our favorite location. We love it so much for it’s quiet beaches and convenience. Many years we have watched turtles hatch and make their journey to the ocean. We married on the beach here in South Nags Head and thought it was only fitting that we buy a special place of our own. Summer Shanty was awesome

Our family vacationed at the Summer Shanty for a week in June. The location in South Nags Head was really nice and quiet. We loved having a short walk to the beach. The pool and hot tub were great amenities. Tracy’s home has everything that you need for a great vacation. We would love to stay here again in the future.

We loved this clean and well stocked house for a family vacation. The pool and hot tub were clean and amazing after a long day at the beach. We loved that the beach had a lifeguard and was close enough even that all the kids could walk and no roads to cross. Nice quiet area but close to restaurants and things to do

Perfect family stay

We had a great stay at this property in Nags Head. It was incredibly clean, had a ton of extras for families with young kids (high chairs, gates, plates/utensils, cups), and was a super quick walk to the beach. The beaches were lovely and not overcrowded, and we really enjoyed the pool and multiple decks! Tracy was very helpful leading up to our stay, as well as during our visit. Highly recommend!

A Perfect Home Away from Home

The Summer Shanty is so cozy and comfortable! It was very clean upon our arrival and my whole family enjoyed the house and closeness to the beach immensely! Beautiful Vacation!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay here so close to the beach! The quiet street was heaven, it allowed for easy walking with our young children without worrying about traffic. The house is beautiful, very clean and has all the amenities you need! It’s a short drive to Manteo, a very cute beach town. Communication between the owner was excellent, she was available if we needed anything! What a wonderful week our family spent together here!

Amazing Getaway

My family and I had an amazing stay at the Summer Shanty! The house is in a great location, a stones throw away from the beach. It is everything you can imagine and then some, clean, accommodating, very thoughtfully laid out. The backyard… just wow! The views of the sunrise and sunset… breathtaking! Beautifully decorated home with all the amenities you want to have a fabulous beach vacation. Close to Roanoke island, hockey ridge, bodie lighthouse and plenty of restaurants. Amazing week

Our family stayed for a week and it was the perfect vacation. The layout of the house was very accommodating to multiple families. The house was well stocked with necessities and it was so nice to have a private pool/hot tub. The beach is such a short walk and can be seen from the upper deck on the front of the house. Thoroughly enjoyed our week and will definitely book again if we choose nagshead.

Our blended family has been vacationing in Nags Head for many years and fell in love with it. We love it so much we were married on the beach here and eventually bought our beach home. It has been a dream come true. We hope that your vacation is a dream come true too.

Why they chose this property

We love our home because of it’s location, spacious rooms, and ample yard. We are 3 houses from the beach and have views of the ocean and the sound. It is convenient to all of the best restaurants and shopping. The beaches in South Nags Head are not crowded. There are excellent opportunities for fishing on shore, off shore, or at nearby piers. There is a lifeguard station at the end of Limulus St., in our neighborhood. It is a quiet neighborhood and great for families because there are no roads to cross to get to the ocean. There are many family activities that are close to our location. Traveling with extended family? Our immediate neighbor next door also advertises on VRBO. #982512.

What makes this property unique

Sit on the front deck and watch the ocean, feel the breeze, and relax. The private salt water pool is refreshing and the hot tub is relaxing. There is nothing like an afternoon outdoor shower to make you feel refreshed. Our house has plenty of outdoor living areas and every amenity to provide a relaxing vacation.
