Wonderful location. Needs maintenance.
Location is great - overlooking the Erie Canal. Basic home is also great - spacious and accommodating. My family actually had a great time at our eclipse watching reunion. But there were a lot of irritating maintenance issues. Biggest was the front door key code lock would not lock from the outside. We finally figured out we could lock the front door from the inside and exit our whole group through the garage and still leave the house secure.
Owner was not there to let us in and did not provide us a dook code until we reached him by text. He had not been very responsive to previous texts asking about such things.
A closet door in the downstairs was off it's hinges. Doorknob missing from another closet door. A lot of exposed mechanicals in the downstairs closets. Heating at night was very noisy. Screen on upstairs deck was off and in pieces. Etc.
Light switches were a complete mystery. We never found a switch for the front entry lights (or maybe the bulbs were burned out). One of the glass lamp pieces was removed from a front light fixture when we got there.
The bunk bed in the downstairs bedroom is sort of silly. Upper bunk is only about 18" below the low ceiling and a ceiling light intrudes into that space about 6".
Owner left a note that we should run a load of bedclothes and sheets before we left but also said we should provide our own laundry detergent. We did strip the beds but that's all.
The maintenance issues could be fixed in an afternoon. Hopefully they will.
