A real retreat

From the moment our reservation was confirmed, owner Ken was responsive to our questions. He gave us numerous tips about visiting the area attractions including some we were unaware of. The cabin had everything we needed. We would gladly recommend that family and friends stay here.

Great Cabin on East Side of Glacier

This sweet little A frame is bigger than it looks. Ken and Gena are so hospitable and they’re full of great hiking recommendations. They made sure we had everything we needed and more. Located on the East side, it’s much less crowded than the west side which is rather refreshing! It’s just 20 minutes to the St Mary Entrance! We would absolutely stay here again!

A Frame

The A frame met our needs - we were gone most of the time at GNP or Waterton. Ken was quick to communicate and provide helpful insights. Neighborhood was quiet.

Hiking Glacier with our daughter

This place was the perfect hikers cabin. Great location close to both St. Mary's and Many Glacier entrances to the park which have the best hikes....just make sure you have your daily car permit reserved in advance. The cabin was wonderfully cozy to return to after a full day of hiking. The hosts were helpful and attentive. The kitchen and bathroom was fully stocked with lots of extra thoughtful items (like spices and butter should you forget to bring). Hope to be back again!

Perfect for Glacier National Park

My wife and I had a fantastic stay. The host is extemely friendly and responsive. Upon checkin the host noticed that the coffee he provided was running low. While there was still plenty he dropped off a fresh bag for us the next day. The property is well kept and everything is modern on the inside. There is AC, but we found that the ceiling fan was more than enough. This is a great stay if you are visiting GNP. A very short drive and you are there. Keep in mind that you are about 45 minutes from a grocery store so be sure to stop on your way to the property. You have a fridge along with a stove. There is also a grill outside for your use. Would stay here again!

Ken and Gena are incredible hosts. My husband and I were so grateful to have a home away from home on our first visit to Glacier National Park. Not only does Ken offer a wealth of insight in regards to the park and its hiking trails but the Hiker's Retreat is a true reflection of its name. With several hiking guides, resources, equipment, and more, we felt ready to hit the trails each day.At the end of each adventure, we returned to this cozy A-frame for a relaxingly hot shower, extra-comfy bed, and a nice movie night. The listing for the Hiker's Retreat drew me in with its thoughtful touches and personal attention to detail. Not to mention its proximity to the park! Located just a short drive away, we found ourselves surrounded by the majestic beauty of Glacier National Park! This perfect location allowed us to maximize our time venturing through the park while providing a close enough space to unwind and recharge at the end of each day.Thank you, Ken and Gena! Your hospitality is wonderfully appreciated. You have created a beautiful space that we look forward to visiting again!

It is a quiet location on the quieter side of Glacier. Not far from Canadian border. The host let us know the door was unlocked. Kitchen was just fine for our needs. We eat simply and did not plan on any big meals. 2 burner cooktop and a microwave. The host was very friendly and helpful. Gave us good tips about where to go.

The BEST place

This place is absolutely perfect. It was so spacious, cozy, cute, and clean. The cabin is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The king bed is comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. Ken was absolutely fantastic! He made sure we had everything we needed, gave us hiking and dining recommendations, and came over to ask if we needed to dry anything after he knew we had hiked in the rain all day. The little deck gets afternoon shade, so when it wasn't raining, it was the perfect place to have an after-hike drink. I will absolutely stay here every time I come back.

Perfect place to stay while exploring the East side of Glacier National Park. Ken and Gena are excellent hosts. They were a wealth of information about the area’s sights, hikes, and restaurants which was helpful. The cabin was super clean, comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. We stayed 5 nights in early July and spent our days in the Many Glacier area of the park plus one day in Canada to see Waterton Lakes NP area. It was nice to come back to the Hiker’s Retreat each night to cook dinner and relax before the next busy day. It was great having a comfortable King size bed, WiFi for research, texting and calling, a large beautiful bathroom and a fully stocked kitchen. We also used the grill one night and Gena brought us some fresh sugar snap peas from a local farmer’s market. This cabin is about a mile down a dirt road in a quiet rural lake neighborhood but is close (easy drive) to Babb and the St.Mary’s entrance and Many Glacier entrance of the park. There were several restaurants and a grocery store and gas station within 10 miles. Ken and Gena live behind the cabin so are close if you need anything but respect your privacy. Would definitely recommend!

Best East Glacier Stay

The A-Frame was perfect! Not only because of the cleanliness, closeness to St. Mary, Many Glacier, and Two Medicine entrances, peacefulness, and sunsets, but mainly because of the great owners! Anything you need to know about the area and hiking, they have the answers and are the absolute friendliest people. Thank you Kenneth and Gena for sharing your slice of heaven with us and all you did for us while we were visiting!

Amazing stay with the perfect location

We loved our stay at the Hikers Retreat. The hosts are exceptionally helpful, kind and knowledgeable of the local area. The home was very well equipped and comfortable. The location is perfect with quick access to the St Mary entrance and close proximity to Many Glacier, Two Medicine and even Waterton in Canada. We hope to come back soon and stay again!

By far this was one of the nicest vacation rentals we’ve ever stayed in. It had everything you could imagine, my favorite items were the comfy robe and slippers! Ken and Gina live behind the cabin on the property and are there with helpful advice such as good hiking trails and places to eat. When the lights started flickering because of the approaching storm Gina came over with candles. It’s conveniently located near the Many Glacier entrance and St Mary’s. We stayed there 5 nights and really enjoyed it

Great stay

My family stayed for 7 nights while visiting Glacier NP. Communication with owner was great, check in process was smooth. A-frame is much bigger than it seems. Clean and nice place. Will stay again at this location next time. Thanks Ken and Gena for keeping the place in such a great shape! Igor

We live in Jacksonville, Florida during the winter months and spend the summers at Duck Lake, Mt near Glacier National Park. We fell in love with this area when we first visited in the mid-1990s and were fortunate to buy property at Duck Lake in 2005. In 2017, we started renovations on our A-frame cabin and in 2019 had our first guests. We were unable to open in 2020 due to covid-19 and are thrilled to be back open for the 2021 season.

We enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking (mainly Ken), rafting, and horseback riding. It is especially enjoyable taking hikes in the backcountry of GNP when the weather is ideal, and the popular trails are busy. We also frequent the local performing art events and especially enjoy watching the enthusiasm of the young artists.

Ken is a retired Naval Officer and Networking Technology Professor and has visited and lived in several countries in the orient. Gena has an MBA, spent a year working in Mexico City with Arthur Anderson Accounting firm before she found her calling as a Computer Information Systems Professor where she worked until she recently retired (and where she met Ken).

We enjoy meeting our guests and sharing our knowledge of the area with them.

We have two small chihuahuas, Ruby and Teka, who love to be held and petted and one shy cat, Coco.

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because it was close to the Many Glacier and St Mary entrances to the park. It is very quiet away from the busy tourist areas outside the gates of Glacier. The main thing that attracted us about this location is the panoramic views of the mountains from our lot.
