About this property
Beautiful Hubbard Lake Waterfront Cottage #2
West Wind Cottages are nestled on the picturesque Hubbard Lake, the largest inland body of water in Northeast Michigan, spanning 8,800 acres of deep, spring-fed waters perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. Nature enthusiasts will be captivated by the scenic splendor of Alcona County's forests and hills. Nearby, hunters can find abundant deer, turkey, and small game, while golfers have their skills tested at several local golf courses. For stargazers, the night sky transforms into a celestial display, offering breathtaking views of the northern lights, Starlink satellites, and meteors when conditions are right.
The cottages, built from cedar log quarter material, exude a warm, rustic country charm. Each cottage features a screened-in porch, skylights, a ceiling fan, and a wood-burning stove to cozy up to during cooler weather, along with a fully-equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower.
Just 50 feet from your cottage, you'll find excellent swimming conditions in crystal-clear water with a sand/cobblestone mix shoreline that transitions to a sandy lake bottom, as well as superb spots for boating and fishing for walleye, perch, pike, trout, and world-class smallmouth bass.
Within a 5-15 minute drive, there's a marina, gas stations, parks, general stores, championship golf courses, restaurants, and bars.
And 20-30 minutes away, you can access thousands of acres of public land, explore Reid & Hoist Lakes foot trails, visit the maritime city of Alpena with its museums and shipwrecks, enjoy Harrisville's boat harbor, Lake Huron's shores, and the historical Sturgeon Point Lighthouse & Museum.

John the owner/host was very helpfulWe had a lot of trouble with the tv but John didn’t know too much about it eitherA little outdated but comfortable and price was rightIt was very clean The lake is beautiful
We had a great time at our stay on Hubbard Lake. The owner lives right across the street so he is there if you need anything but never once made us feel as if we were being watched. I have stayed elsewhere where we felt as if the owner watched us the entire stay. This was not the case here! We had a great time. If I had to be picky and complain about something I would say it can get a little warm in the cabins with no ac but it was over 90 our entire stay. Also, the parking is very limited.
Overall property was well kept and as described. Definitely a bargain for the price. John, the owner was very friendly and helpful. He took care of a minor issue of a loose bolt on the dock ladder very quickly and even notified me of a something I left at a local merchant midweek when he saw it on a community FB site. I would definitely stay here again.
Cabin was clean, beautiful view of Hubbard Lake and accommodations were what we expected. Owner was very helpful and willing to do what we asked to make our stay enjoyable. I will rent from him again.
Enjoy our stay... unfortunately, because of the covid pandemic, many of the places were closed.
The location was great... right next to water. It was quiet and the other renters were nice. Both the interior and exterior were "tired"... maybe some updating would help. John was very helpful and available to us, which was great when it came time to light the wood burning stove. If we came back we would come during the summer.
