The MacDonald is our most secluded. Overlooking the woods, it offers the privacy and seclusion that has become our trademark. As with all of our cabins, it is fully heated and air conditioned.
Set up to accommodate two guests with a queen-sized bed, it is elegant and intimate at the same time. Mounted above the sofa are the actual trews (trousers) worn in the film "Brigadoon". These compliment the host of real antiques and artifacts that decorate the walls of all of our cabins. Enjoy the unique comfort of genuine hand-made Amish rockers. We strive to provide an atmosphere that is as warm and personal as your own home.
On the covered porch, you can soak in the hot tub while sipping your coffee or wine. We also drain and clean the hot tub after every guest leaves. We only add a couple of 1" tabs of bromine (no other chemicals) to insure a pleasant guest experience. Ask our competitors what their policy is.
There is a gas grill also on the porch.
The bedroom has a patio door that opens to the porch allowing direct access to the hot tub. The gas fireplace, which opens to both the living room and bedroom, provides a romantic aura to the sleeping quarters. The Flat Screen TV is on a swiveling base that allows viewing from either the bedroom or the living room.
We are a "no contact" facility. There is no need to check in. You may proceed directly to the cabin. We live on the property but we sell privacy. We are available at any time.

The cabin and location was perfect for my wife and I to enjoy the quiet and relax. Everything was clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to staying at this property again.
We loved everything about this place! My most favorite part was the secluded back porch with rocking chairs, board games, hot tub and even an overhead fan to provide a cool breeze in the summer. The cabin is a perfect size for short trips or even long stays, very little wasted space and clever Scottish decor. We seen baby deer every morning as we headed to town, they were comfortable being close as this location is very remote, but they also kept a safe distance as they should. More than one cabin is located on the property but everything is spaced so that while in your own you’d think you were out there all by yourselves. The owners replied timely with any direction needed and but also kept to themselves, we never seen another person the entire weekend.
The cabin was a perfect getaway. We liked the seclusion and a chance to unwind.
The access road was a little rough, but well worth it We would definitely stay again.
I stayed for two night over the weekend and I definelty would recommend it for anyone. It was very quiet and had a pretty good view from the porch. It was also very easy to get into contact with the owner and they were very willing to help.
For starters it was super clean. Big white fluffy towels. Facial washcloths with makeup removing wipes. The two way fireplace was perfect. Two things I would suggest changing or investing in: A new mattress (this one was very hard) Although the bed linens were soft and comfortable. And a Keurig Coffee maker. So much more convenient In our opinion, for a quick cup of coffee. Other than those two things this place was truly great. We would definitely stay here again
The cabin is in the middle of the woods. There was wildlife all around the area. We mostly saw deer and turkey. It is very peaceful and I do love the woods. The cabin is just the right size for two and was the cleanness cabin we have been in. I don't normally like gas fireplaces but this one for whatever reason I love. I heated the whole cabin. It brought back memories of grandma's house. We love it and will be staying there when we are back in the area.
Probably the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. So GRATEFUL for that! MacDonald cabin was super private. The covered porch was wonderful. We're already discussing dates to return.
This little cabin was perfect for a quite getaway with my husband. Property was nice and you felt secluded even with other cabins near by. We loved our stay and would definitely go back.
The host was very nice and pleasant to communicate with. The property was nice and clean. It was a lovely stay for a couple with nice amenities. 10/10 would stay again!
Great location in the woods and not sitting beside other cabins. Felt remote and had not visual neighbors from the back porch and only a few on the large property. Comfortable stay for two. We traveled into GA a few times to visit Blairsville, Helen and Dahlonega as this is located within 15 mins of the state line.
We had a lovely stay at the MacDonald Cabin. George is very nice and customer service oriented. The property itself is beautiful and just isolated enough without having a difficult drive. The cabin was very clean and homey. The jacuzzi came in handy after our hikes and was conveniently located on the covered porch. Close enough to downtown Murphy and restaurants. Also conveniently located to many hikes and scenic drives.
I feel bad saying this but we do agree with a couple reviews on the bed and sofa in this particular cabin. The mattress, for us, was too stiff with no give. We went out and bought a foam mattress pad which helped. The sofa is the opposite and very soft with little support. Of course everyone’s idea of comfort varies. The bed and sofa are by no means old, but maybe a replacement with something that offers a little more support/comfort?
That being said we would stay here again, even in the same cabin! Thank you!
