About this property
Secluded vintage island cottage - boat access only.
Family cottage for the last 50+ years. Cottage sits on 2.5 acres and 330 feet of lake frontage. Large deck and large open concept kitchen. Rare large deck at the water’s edge with lots of seating. Great location in protected cove with deep 40 foot dock. It is a 10 min boat ride to Wolfeboro. See the lights from Wolfeboro at night. Great walking path in the center of the island approx 1.5 miles long. Three season porch has two pullout couches a favorite sleeping spot with knotty pine walls. Close to loon sanctuary. Since it is an island home - you must have your own boat or rent to get to and from the island. There are no motorized vehicles on the island (about 60 houses) - very tranquil and quiet. Prefer to rent > 1 week at a time but feel free to send me a message we can work something out depending on the dates. High speed internet, Amazon Firestick for streaming, with a desk space as well you can work from home here. This is a cottage my family uses as well so you will find everything well stocked.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Smith
My great aunt and uncle built on the property when Barndoor Island was first developed by Robert Ronci in the late 1960s. At that time the only structures were a cow barn and a caretaker's cottage. They both grew up during the Great Depression and you will see photos of them hanging in the house as the cottage was their dream.
Why they chose this property
You will be hard pressed to find a place with this much privacy on the big lake - in addition to the protected cove. You will be able to find newer houses, more updated houses, bigger houses, but you won't get the same privacy and space for the price. I have several families that come back year after year. I rent for limited weeks to pay the taxes.
What makes this property unique
2.5 acres, 330 feet of lake frontage.
