Nightmare arrival when you are said that no apartment available
At 6 pm, after 13 hs driving we got a phone call that our apartment is not available. We got substitute offer much smaller, either on 1400m or 1800m, replacing the apartment on 2300m Valthorens, which was on the skislope. Because it was very warm weather and the substitute apartment was not at the ski slope, much much worse quality we did not accept it. The owner sent back the money, and with this she wanted to finish the deal. We called VRBO, where we got some help, but the guy offered another possibility in Lyon. From US it might have been seen as the region, but it should be at least 3 hs driving Val thorens and another 3 hs back every day. so we could not accept these either. Finally we slept in 2 very small room one night in a youth hostel on the cost of the original apartment owner and one day later got 2 very small (28qm) apartment in ValThorens, but both were very poor quality. We suppose double reservation happened, but I do not wish that nervousness after 15 hs driving with eight guests behind you, what we had the first evening. We did reservation in 2023 October and paid the rest on 4th January, one month in advance. These accomodation owners should be fined seriously through the accomodation organizer company.
