Once an old trailer park, the May family has lovingly rehabilitated this 14-acre property at the base of Lookout Mountain into a tranquil retreat, surrounded by forest. Wauhatchie Woodlands offers a natural escape just minutes from beautiful Downtown Chattanooga, blending modern comfort with a unique rustic experience.

Chattanooga has been recognized by Outdoor Magazine, Southern Living, Tripadvisor, Thrillist Zagat and many more media outlets as a must-visit destination for travelers of all kinds.

You’ll be staying less than a mile from one of Tennessee's most popular attractions, Ruby Falls, and just over five miles from Rock City.

If you’re craving the great outdoors, you’ll find no shortage of hikes, waterfalls, overlooks, and historical sites, all within just a few minutes of your cabin. A short walk from the property is the Skyuka Springs trailhead, which will connect you to Sunset Rock, Point Park, the Chattanooga Nature Center, and more. If history is what attracted you, Wauhatchie Woodland sits a stones throw from the site of the decisive Civil War “Battle Above the Clouds.” The property is bordered by National Park land, preserving the historic battlefield. Point Park, at the top of Lookout Mountain includes several Civil War memorials and an interpretive center. The area has long, rich history dating back thousands of years to the early Cherokee people who called the mountain Chat-a-nu-ga, the city's namesake.

You'll have the entire home to yourself during your stay.

The pool area and amenities are shared with two other properties, the May Family Home and the Skyuka Chalet. The ground floor of the Chalet serves as the poolhouse and also shared.

The Blue House is located on the edge of Wauhatchie Woodlands, a 14-acre property surrounded by National Forest. Guests have access to trails around the grounds, as well as shared pavilions, community fire pits, and playground. Please be respectful of other guests during your stay.
The Blue House is part of Wauhatchie Woodlands, a collection of quaint, tiny-home, rustic-comfort log cabins on a 14-acre wooded property surrounded by National Park land. This charmingly renovated 100-year-old home is the ideal spot for a family or group to launch their exploration of the Chattanooga area. Just 5 mins from Downtown and close to 100's of attractions. This home was refreshed with new paint, flooring, light fixtures, and other finishings in 2023.

Blue House sleep up to 7 between the main bedroom and bunk room. The property has a private hot tub and shares a resort-style pool and patio with two other homes.

We've lovingly updated this historic home while retaining all of its original character. An open floorplan and an abundance of windows make for a bright, airy space, with beautiful forest views on all sides. The high plank ceilings enhance the space and make bunk beds cozy and very accommodating.

The main room features a galley kitchen, dining room, and living area with Smart TV. A stained dining deck off of the kitchen offers outdoor dining space for six and a charcoal grill (charcoal not include). Behind the home is an intimate outdoor living space with a cushioned sectional sofa and the large private Hot Tub.

The main bedroom features a king bed, Smart TV, and ensuite bathroom. The bunk room has one full and three twin beds. Parents will love the privacy of the main suite and can easily sleep up to five kids in the bunk room.

The Blue House is in a compound with two other homes, the May Family Home and Skyuka Chalet. The homes share a stunning, heated resort-style pool with an expansive flagstone patio. On the patio, you'll find lounge seating, an outdoor fireplace, and an outdoor kitchen with a covered dining pavilion.

The pool is closed during winter, typically from October to March.

The ground floor of the Chalet serves as the poolhouse for all three properties. Guests have access to a shared washer and dryer, a workout room, poolside showers, and toilets.

The Blue House is more than just a house; it's a true forested resort just a tiny hop from downtown Chattanooga.

Christmas in Chattanooga
Communication was wonderful and made our stay flawless. The other rentals were full, but there was enough open space to never feel crowded.

Great location
Great location. Nice, comfy, clean and all the necessities needed. We used the pool and jacuzzi. Saw squirrels and crows on the property. Visited Point Park, Rock City, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee Train Museum, Aquarium, Art Museum, Incline Railway & the Carousel at the park. Ate at Odell’s x2, Pucketts, Flaming Rooster & Clumpies Ice Cream. I ran the Skyuka Springs Trail, Walnut Street Bridge area & Mr Ts pizza area.
