About this property

Modern/rustic farm house, with the best views in Maremma, a piece of heaven!

Done up last years by the owners, one of them a Danish architect based in London, this is a 200 year old farmhouse set on a hill top with incredible peace, incredible views EVER. We have restored the old beams and old stone house, but rather than a fussy country style, we have given it a modern loft-like feel : occasional steel beams, metal windows, danish furniture.

There are two terraces for eating and sunset time, which is where you will spend most of your time. Views are 100% free of any road, car, lampposts or our normal busy world! There is a castle top on Momtemassi which light up at night.

The bottom floor we have opened up so it is 100m2 of interconnecting space, that is three living rooms areas + kitchen. If we had wanted to make the space more fantastic, we could not - we were so lucky to find the original flag stones and even the original olive mill stones as the farm was the local olive mill at the time. These mill stones we have used as the base of the fireplace, which is open to two of the living spaces.

On the top floor there are three big bedrooms, all traditional cotto floors ( with underfloor heating for winter days), but the main feature is the bathroom. It is HUGE, and it is such a luxury to spend time there. In fact we sacrificed a bedroom so that we could get a really special bathroom!

The grounds are roughly 1kmx1km, so it takes half an hour to walk through our land. We have 164 olive trees, all in production. And there are figs, pears, apples, plums, cherries and fantastic apricots. The part below the house is what you will enjoy most, that we keep well maintained.

Wonderful Tuscan Experience

The property was stunningly beautiful. The views and the sunsets were some of the best we have ever seen. The property manager was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We had an amazing holiday with our three dogs and our cat. Everyone loved the house and the surrounding property. The owners did an amazing job modernizing the old olive oil mill, incorporating many of the architectural and historical pieces. We will definitely be visiting again and have shared it with our friends and family!

A real gem in stunning environment!

The communication with Sasha was great and he is a very nice host. The house and the interior is fantastic. The location in the authentic backcountry was great and the view from the house is overwhelming. There is a lot of space, so it is very comfortable to stay with 7 People. Furhtermore it is well equipped. We will come back soon, for sure. Thanks a lot to Sasha, that he is sharing his unique place!

Die Toskana vor der Nase

Für Genießer, die den Alltag nicht nur verdrängen, sondern vergessen möchten. Mit einem Ausblick in die Ebene, die nach Grosseto führt, der nur schön ist. Die Schotterstraße zum Haus ist kein Problem. Das Erdgeschoss mit den alten Steinmauern ist auch tagsüber kühl, im Obergeschoss wird‘s da schon wärmer. Die Küche ist eher einfach gehalten, erfüllt aber ihren Zweck. Alles in Allem ein sehr beschaulicher Ort fürs Entspannen und Genießen, danke Sasha!!

Ein idyllisches Fleckchen

Wir waren zwei Wochen in der wohl wämsten Zeit des Jahres vor Ort und waren sehr froh, ein doch sehr gut isoliertes Haus aus Stein vorzufinden. Wir haben die Zeit in dieser wunderschönen Unterkunft sehr genossen. Das Haus ist sehr großzügig geschnitten und der Einrichtungsstil sucht seinesgleichen. Ein wirklich besonderes und uriges Ambiente. Uns hat dies besonders gut gefallen. Die Aussicht auf das Tal und die anderen Hügel ist wirklich atemberaubend. Wir haben bis spät in die Nacht auf der Terrasse gesessen und diese wunderschöne Kulisse, weißes Sternenfunkeln und Lichterglanz des Tals, genossen. Das Haus hat alles, was man braucht, besonders dankbar haben wir die Solardusche im Außenbereich angenommen. Wenn man mal eine Frage hat, antwortet Sascha, der Vermieter, sofort und ist sehr hilfsbereit. Wir fühlten uns hier sehr gut aufgehoben. Gerne kommen wir wieder! N. Schönebeck

Atemberaubende Aussicht und gute Lage

Wir hatten mit 3 Erwachsenen, 2 Kindern und einem Hund einen tollen Urlaub an diesem schönen Ort. Die Ausgangslage war für uns perfekt, um den Süden der Toskana und die Maremma zu erkunden und die fantastische Aussicht von der Terrasse hat uns einige schöne Frühstücks- und Abendbrot-Momente beschert. Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Kommunikation mit Sasha war unkompliziert und reaktionsschnell. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft!

Peaceful house with amazing view.

Sasha's house is in a beautiful location in the hills with the most stunning expansive view over typically Tuscan countryside. It is very peaceful and rural, which is what we were looking for, but within driving distance of plenty of Tuscan attractions. We visited Siena, some lovely hilltop towns, and beaches. Sasha was easy to communicate with. There had been thunderstorms before we arrived and there was no power downstairs in the house when we arrived - when we made Sasha aware of this he immediately did all he could to resolve the issue and arranged for us to put our food in a neighbour's fridge. We did feel however that the house is not set up for the heat (we visited in August). We did not expect there to be air conditioning, however we were very surprised that there were no shutters or blinds - or indeed even curtains in most rooms. This meant we could not block the sun out of the house during the day, and consequently struggled to sleep at night. It also meant early morning wake up calls from the sun because only one bedroom had curtains. Overall we had a lovely week and particularly enjoyed evenings on the terrace. However, a few finishing touches such as shutters or blinds would make the house perfect.

Haus mit Panoramablick

Großes Haus mit sehr schönem Ausblick auf dem Hügel. Durch eine schmale Schotterstraße per Auto zu erreichen. Trotzdem sehr gute Lage, ruhig und idyllisch. Gastgeber war selber nicht vor Ort, reagierte aber sehr schnell auf Anfragen per Mail oder Mobil.

Tolles Haus in toller Lage

Wir haben zu fünft 10 sehr schöne Tage in Sasha’s Haus verbracht. Die Lage in den Hügeln mit Blick bis zum Meer ist gigantisch. Man kann viele schöne Tagesausflüge an den Strand, nach Grossetto, Saturnia, Massa Maritima uvm. machen. Wir mussten bei der Ankunft ein paar Sachen beiseiteräumen um uns ausbreiten zu können, die Gartenmöbel brauchen teils ein Update und die Abflüsse waren bislang noch nicht repariert. Aber Sasha hat versprochen, sich im Mai darum zu kümmern. Der Charme und die tolle Lage des Hauses machen solche Kleinigkeiten aber mehr als wett. Wir kommen gerne nochmal!

Stilvoll restauriertes Haus mit liebevollen Details, grandioser Aussicht und kleinen Fehlern

Wir haben eine großartige Woche im Herbst in dem Haus verbracht. Die Aussicht über die Maremma bis nach Elba ist spektakulär. Lediglich eine Heizung für die kalten Nächte und der anfängliche Geruch aus dem Abfluss waren etwas störend. Grundsätzlich aber gerne wieder.

Tolles Ferienhaus in Traumlage

Wir, eine fünfköpfige Familie mit Hund, hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in dem Haus von Sasha. Die Lage des Anwesens auf halber Höhe am Hang mit phantastischer Blick in die Ebene von Grosseto ist perfekt. Das Haus ist sehr stilsicher restauriert, besonders gut hat uns die große Wohn-Essküche mit Natursteinmauerwerk und Holzbalkendecke sowie die beiden großen Terrassen gefallen. Man kann von hier aus schöne Tagesausflüge ans Meer machen und zwischen verschiedenen Badestränden wählen. Mit dem Auto erreicht man viele Sehenswürdigkeiten wie z.B. Massa Marittima, Siena oder Montalcino ebenfalls als Tagesausflug. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten befinden sich in den wenige Kilometer entfernten Ortschaften Sassofortino und Roccastrada. Für Rennradfahrer bietet das nördlich angrenzende Hügelland mit wenig befahrenen Nebenstraßen ein perfektes Revier. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen.

Cosy retreat for a family holiday

Herrliche Sicht über die Hügel der Toskana

Das Haus von Sasha liegt wunderschön oberhalb von Ribolla und bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick. Es liegt in Nachbarschaft von zwei anderen Häusern, die man aber kaum wahrnimmt, mitten in der herrlichen Natur. In 20 Minuten erreicht man einen wunderbaren Badesee, zum Meer sind es vielleicht 40 Minuten. In Ribolla bekommt man alles für den täglichen Gebrauch. Das Haus ist sehr hübsch mit einem großzügigen Wohn- Essbereich, Steinfußboden, Steinwänden und Stahlfenstern, beeindruckend. Ausstattung ausreichend. Einziger Nachteil: das Haus bietet wenig Schutz gegen extreme Hitze. Ansonsten uneingeschränkte Empfehlung.

Ein wunderbares Haus mit herrlichem Ausblick - für sehr entspannte Stunden!

Wir haben mit 5 Personen eine wunderbare Woche im August 2018 in diesem sehr schönen Haus verbracht. Das Haus ist sehr gelungen und schön renoviert und hat sich etwas sehr schön Ursprüngliches und Charmantes erhalten. Man spürt dem Haus an, dass die Eigentümer dieses für sich selbst errichtet haben, mit Interesse an ausgesuchtem und geschmackvollem Mobiliar. Mit zwei Erwachsenen und drei Kindern hatten wir sehr viel Platz, um eine sehr entspannte Zeit dort zu verbringen. Das Haus ist durch eine längere Einfahrt/Straße von einer Ortsstraße erschlossen, sodass wir hier absolute Ruhe hatten. Die Küche enthielt alles aus unserer Sicht Erforderliche, sodass wir uns dort sehr gut selbst versorgen konnten. Das Bad und die Schlafzimmer haben ebenfalls nichts vermissen lassen. Der tägliche Blick von der Terrasse in die weite Ebene der Toskana ist einfach wunderschön. Ca. 3 km entfernt ist der Ortskern von Sassofortine, in dem man alles Wesentliche erhält (kleiner Coop-Laden zum Einkauf, nette Pizzeria). Größere Einkaufmöglichkeiten sind etwas entfernt sehr gut erreichbar. Etwa eine halbe Stunde Fahrzeit sind verschiedene schöne Strände erreichbar mit Blick auf Elba und Korsika (Sonnenschirme und Strandmatten waren im Haus vorhanden). Wir haben mit etwas längerer Fahrzeit ein schöne Tagestour nach San Gimignano, Lucca und Pisa unternommen. Vor dem Urlaub wurden wir noch vom Vermieter darauf hingewiesen, dass ein WLAN Anschluss nicht vorliegt, was wir nicht vermisst haben, zumal Mobilfunkempfang nebst Roaming jederzeit gegeben war. Der Kontakt zum Eigentümer war sehr nett und absolut unkompliziert. Alle Fragen wurden kurzerhand zur Zufriedenheit beantwortet. Wir haben den Urlaub in dem Objekt und der Region sehr genossen!

Wonderful house in beautiful surrounding

We stayed for a week in late October. Even though we decided last minute and gave the owner only two days notice, the house was ready for us. It is a beautiful place, overlooking the valley, like from a tuscan dream. The house is of very good quality, fully equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. We were even able to help friends of the owner harvesting olives and got a tour of the oil mill the next day. The week felt like staying at a good friends place.

gross, hell, sehr ruhig und trotzdem nicht abgelegen

Wir waren als Familie mit zwei Jungs (7 & 11) im Juli 2017 für knapp drei Wochen hier und haben eine wunderbar entspannte Zeit hier verbracht, ohne Entertainment durch Fernsehen, WiFi oder ähnliches. Das Haus ist für vier Personen sehr grosszügig. Das Bad ist top, die Betten sehr gut und die Küche erfüllt ihren Zweck ebenfalls. Überwältigend ist der Ausblick in die Maremma (vor allem bei Dunkelheit). Autos und sonstigen Lärm hört man nur von Ferne und meist übertönt von Zikaden oder dem Brausen des Windes. Wir waren überrascht, dass es keine Mückengitter am Haus gibt, aber tatsächlich verirrten sich nur wenige Insekten ins Haus. Zum Einkauf (Ribolla) sind es 10min, zum Strand eine halbe Stunde, Montalcino in einer Stunde erreichbar. Wir hoffen sehr, dass wir bald wieder hier Urlaub machen können!!!

Traumhaftes Domizil abseits von Touristenpfaden in den Hügeln der Maremma

Wir haben 2 Wochen Ende Juli/Anfang August mit 2 Familien (3 Kinder im Alter von 6-12) in dem neu restaurierten Haus verbracht. Das Haus ist wunderschön und mit viel authentischem Charme hergerichtet. Innerhalb der Steinmauern findet man immer ein kühles Plätzchen und der Garten lädt ein, unter dem Sonnenschirm in völliger Ruhe zu entspannen. Unsere Kinder haben mit Begeisterung das Gelände erkundet - nur ein kleiner unbefestigter Weg führt zu dem Haus, so dass sie sich völlig frei und vom Verkehr ungestört bewegen konnten. Die hügelige Landschaft ist optimal für Mountainbiker und besticht durch ihre satte Flora und Fauna. Auch zum Meer ist es nicht weit, wir fanden traumhafte Naturstrände, die in etwa 30 Minuten Autofahrt zu erreichen sind. In der nahen Umgebung sind neben den bekannten touristischen Zielen der Toskana zahlreiche kleine Ortschaften, in denen man alles für das tägliche Leben bekommt. Obwohl wir den Vermieter nicht persönlich angetroffen haben, konnten wir uns immer und mit allen Fragen an ihn wenden und fühlten uns bestens betreut. Das Ferienhaus ist ideal für Familien, die Erholung abseits des Trubel suchen und Wert auf ein geschmackvolles Ambiente legen.

Why they chose this property

1. Well, the style is unique, if we may say so ourselves. We have preserved the original tuscan features but made it feel lifelike and modern, with steel beams and windows, and with danish 60's furniture. All our guests have said it is much better than on the pictures...

2. But most of the time is spent on the terraces, because the views are AMAZING! Even in November/ December, we eat outside most days and evenings.

3. And finally, it is so well situated for day trips to Siena or Florence and other historic cities, but also half an hour from the beaches, which makes Maremma a very special part of Tuscany.

What makes this property unique

The sunsets and sunrises... are amazing! We spend 90% of our time outside,

The architecture is unique, we call it Rustico Moderno. And the peace on the hilltop is something we all need, to restore and rejuvenate.

Yet you can get to the sea in half an hour, Siena in an hour, Florence in 1.5 hours....perfect for day trips.

So, a great home away from home, if we may say so.
