Discover the beauty of the Mojave Desert at Roadrunner's Roost, a contemporary homestead cabin just 1.3 miles from Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms. Our prime location allows for easy access to outdoor adventures (hiking, rock climbing, astrophotography).

Experience mesmerizing night skies while dining on the open patio, and enjoy all the comforts of home with a well-equipped kitchen, high-speed Wi-Fi, Netflix, and Sonos sound system for entertainment.

Blend of comfort, convenience and entertainment awaits you as soon as you step through the front door. While decorating our inviting cabin, we have worked hard to create a feeling of a 2nd home for our guests. Digital nomads welcome!

The living area is designed as an open concept space, combining the cozy living room, convenient dining area and the well equipped kitchen with 180 views of the desert and Joshua Tree National Park just outside the windows

The living room area is perfect for an afternoon break. It consists of:

★ Ottoman
★ High back chair
★ 55” Samsung Smart TV (watch a movie from your accounts on Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube and much more).
★ Sonos sound bar which can be controlled with a smartphone app

Dining area is also here. It boasts enough chairs to accommodate a perfect group meal. It can also be used as a workspace on which you can put your laptop and do some work while the rest of the party is relaxing on the couch.

The kitchen is suitable for preparation of any meal, whether it is a breakfast, an afternoon snack or a 3-course dinner for the whole group. While applying your MasterChef skills, you are welcome to:

Amazing property! Stayed the weekend as a volunteer astronomer for the Joshua Tree Night Sky Fest held at Sky's the Limit observatory (1.4 miles down the road). Property was like home away from home, wonderfully furnished, clean and cozy. HIGHLY recommend, look forward to revisiting again

The property is beautiful and freshly remodeled inside and has all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay. The local coffee beans and farm fresh eggs were a nice touch! The grill and outdoor patio area were very nice and it’s a perfect spot for stargazing. A little less than 1 mile from Joshua Tree NP so very convenient location. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Comfort in the desert

Roadrunner Roost is a wonderful respite after a long day hiking in Joshua National Park. A beautiful well equipped kitchen easy access to grocery stores and a super outdoor grill make eating at the rental easy. If you like to eat dinner out, we loved 29 Palms Inn and Kitchen in the Desert Cafe were beyond our expectations . Joshua Tree Getaway

This is a perfect place to stay when visiting Joshua Tree National Park. The north entrance is less than five minutes away. The night sky from the back deck is amazing. It was comfortable and well appointed. While there are tvs with Roku devices you will need your own logins to use.

desert paradise

This house is almost inside the park. The night sky is beautiful and the house is adorable. It is isolated so that it is peaceful but just a 10 minute drive to town. The host was one of the best I have ever had on VRBO. She sent a lot of communication making everything very easy. I highly recommend this property.

Perfection in the Desert

We stayed 4 nights at Roadrunners Roost and the house was perfect in every way possible- a great location, with a beautiful layout and an excellent kitchen and bathroom. A great amount of attention was put into the entire space, including furnishings and finishes throughout. It’s also amazingly quiet, peaceful and private yet so close to everything in Joshua Tree NP as well as restaurants and grocery stores in 29 Palms. We hope to return in the future!!

Star watching!

This is the 2nd time that my wife and I have stayed at Roadrunner's Roost. Great location, quiet and scenic, close to Joshua Tree entrance. We came out to view the meteor showers, the sky was full of stars! The whole process was handled well, Patricia is very professional. The home is clean and set up well. We will be back again!

Great Place So Close to Joshua Tree!

This property was perfect for our trip to Joshua Tree NP. We were so close to the park’s north entrance, which made getting to the park early very easy. We were able to spend 2 hours in the park before the rush. We were able to see the popular sites with virtually no one else around—great for photos! It is also only a short drive to Twentynine Palms, so getting groceries or dinner were simple tasks. The place is clean, very well stocked and completely updated. With beautiful views it was a peaceful getaway after long days in the park.The owner is very helpful and on top of things. We really loved the Roadrunner’s Roost!

Great house! If you want to be away from it all but still have modern new house then this place is it. I think they just started renting it out- all like new and so clean. Great night sky and super close to Joshua tree park entrance . Unpaved road to house but doable just bring own water for drinking and cooking.

Across the Street from Joshua Tree

My son and I were looking for convenience and access to the park and we got so much more! This house was quiet, clean and well stocked for a perfect stay. We were steps away from JTNP and the night skies were stunning. If you are looking for a quiet spot to relax after a day in the park, you found the right spot. The property manager was very communicative and responsive. To note, there is only one bathroom that is in the master bedroom. This is clearly laid out in the description, but worth considering if there are multiple families/friends traveling together. Perfect for one family.

Wonderful house in the desert!

This house has been totally remodeled inside and is a beautiful home! Very nice kitchen with everything you need. Beautiful big windows around the sides and back of house that give you a wonderful view of twinkling lights at night in 29 Palms. Also, don't forget to look up at the amazing stars. The house has 2 comfortable beds and a huge bathroom. The living room has a large comfortable couch. Outside there is a nice picnic table with grill and a fire pit in the yard. You can see forever from this house and it is 3 minutes from the North entrance to Joshua Tree. Great location and very comfortable house! Would absolutely stay again.

Countryside haven, adjacent to national park

This property that is 5 minutes from the north entrance to JTNP is a perfect retreat, also close to funky 29 Palms. Down a passable dirt road, with only a couple distant neighbors, the house is completely updated to contemporary comforts and demands. Beautifully decorated in neutral tones and original art, with comfortable furniture for lounging, a fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor spaces tricked out for grilling, star gazing and decompressing after a day of adventure. So very quiet, peaceful. Amazing views of the town at night. Roomy shower in the bathroom, dual sinks, lots of towels in the linen closet. Good to know - the bathroom is accessible through the primary bedroom.

An Oasis in the Mojave

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Roadrunner's Roost. The house itself is fully updated, very comfortable, and has almost any amenity you could imagine (the only exception would be a washer or dryer for laundry, but that's perfectly fine if you know that going in). You almost literally could not be staying any closer to Joshua Tree National Park, and the town of Twentynine Palms is just a short drive away for restaurants, groceries, and the newly built National Park Visitor Center. The feeling of seclusion and privacy is exceptional and our only regret is that we wish we could have stayed longer! Patricia was very communicative (and was even able to stock our fridge with some farm fresh eggs prior to our arrival), and the arrival and departure processes themselves were also very easy.

Beautiful solitude with modern amenities!

What an amazing property! Out in the desert, barely a soul around, stars and cactus! This property is far enough out, but close enough to restaurants and hiking! The house is adorable and well kept, the views are next to none! WiFi is great, beds are comfy, the bathroom is in the master bedroom so if you are an almost 50 lady like us you will have some nighttime interruptions but it was all good for us! Owners were very responsive (we had zero problems at all and didn’t need to contact anyone but what communication we had was prompt!). Hummingbirds buzzed around us outside. Joshua tree park was very convenient to the location. We did a loop thru and some hikes, came back into yucca valley to do some lunch and shopping there and in Joshua tree. A very magical two nights in the high desert. Highly recommend!

I'm what you would call an "Accidental Host". My skills as a professional photographer lead me to meeting with a gentleman who was looking to sell some property here in the desert. I'm tech savvy as well and next thing you know I'm managing his properties for him here in the desert and in Europe. Word of mouth spread and now two years later, I have a portfolio of vacation rentals here in 29 Palms.

I've been a resident here in the desert for 24 years and counting. Joshua Tree National Park is my "church" and my photography muse. I love sharing my passion for this arid landscape with visitors from all over the world. Whether it be sharing some of my favorite locations in the park or dining at one of our local restaurants. There's more here to do than meets the eye. I encourage you to connect with locals and experience as much of this unique landscape while you are here.

Why they chose this property

Roadrunner's Roost was built in 1972 by the Wellock Family, hence the name of the street the home resides on. The home is currently owned by the Dunn Family, who's grandfather was one of the early settlers in 29 Palms during the 1930's. Here's a message from them... "Welcome to Roadrunner's Roost! Barbara and I bought this property years ago used it as a rental for several years. In 2018, the year of my retirement, the home became vacant and we inspected the property. Our decision to remodel the home soon became a labor of love. The property, in our opinion, has all the attributes needed to experience the 'desert solitude' that Barbara and I so value. This rustic old cabin mixed with modern conveniences is truly reflective of desert living. Expansive views, dark starlit nights and solitude are the elements that will haunt your memory of Roadrunner's Roost. It is our hope that this home will serve to lead you to an understanding and appreciation of the desert Barbara and I have loved for years.
