Ride an electric lift down the cliff or walk the stairs to the cabin. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, washer and dryer, Direct Tv. 40 min from Hot Springs, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, Sevierville, and 1 hour from Ashville, and Knoxville.
The cabin is on two levels overlooking the French Broad River. Each bedroom has phenomenal expansive views of the mountains as you look down literally over the river more than 100 feet below! Catch your breath as you walk out onto one of the cantilevered decks.
The kitchen and living room on the first floor have equally breathtaking views!
Each floor boasts of a full bathroom with showers and sit-down tubs. Large, exposed timber ceilings and tongue-in-grooved walls and floors give it the handcrafted feel that one expects from a mountain cabin. Anyone that does woodwork cannot help but be impressed with the massive Timber stairs between the floors.
From every living space including the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, you are surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. You will want to stay home sip your coffee and drink in the view while you relax to the sound of the French Broad River slipping by far below.
Since there is no trash service out here in the mountains, guests are expected to remove and dispose of the trash generated. There are two trash disposal sites close to the cabin for your convivence. The site is less than 2 miles from the cabin and on your way out. The signs say only Cocke county residents, and this trash is generated in Cocke and can be disposed of there. If you leave on a Sunday or holiday, you may leave one trash bag for the cleaners to remove.

We were glad to host you and hope that you can come back for a longer stay. We're glad that you found this cabin a pleasant place for your time in the Smokies.
The place is absolutely beautiful. I got snowed it, but the different deck levels allow me to take in the beauty. Everything that was hooked to gas, started very quickly. The place was very clean and felt homey. The hosts were very pleasant and easy to reach if I had questions. Best part was the lift. Very convenient and fun to ride with my luggage. I definitely recommend this place and plan to return.
This cabin was just perfect for a quiet weekend away. Couldn’t ask for better hosts. Would definitely recommend and definitely look to stay here again.
Freida, thank you for your review. It's true, this cabin has a view like no other over the French Broad River with the Smokies in the background. The surroundings are so peaceful. Come back anytime!
We wanted to book an experience of a lifetime for Christmas in the mountains. And our two kids were in aww of the whole experience. Veiws are breathtaking definitely a cabin that well talk about for years to come.
The most accurately GORGEOUS home I have ever seen. The hosts were extremely kind and communicative, check out was so easy, we were given complete privacy and everything was exactly as described. The wifi worked perfectly which was good as it gave as the ability to contact our families, but otherwise we unplugged and just basked in the insane beauty this home has to offer.
The property has sensational views and is very welcoming. Unfortunately when we arrived the home was infested with ladybugs and stink bugs both dead and alive. We spent several hours cleaning the bugs from the windows on the sunny side of the house. The next day we had more bugs so we contacted the owner. His response was that the cleaning crew would get them after we left. The next day we had bugs crawling on us in the family room and falling into our dinner. I’m not sure why we had to pay for cleaning when in addition to collecting and killing bugs we also had to take our trash to the recycling center or we would be charged $20 per bag

I'm sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience with the ladybugs and stink bugs in the rental property. It sounds like it made your stay less enjoyable and inconvenient. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the sensational views and found the property to be welcoming. We understand that ladybugs can become active during a warm snap, which happened during your stay. It is also during this nice weather that guests enjoy having the windows opened, but we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the ladybugs. We are currently in the process of replacing the windows since they are hard to shut. We schedule pest control twice a year and treat as needed. We also had the company treat for pests after your departure to ensure the property is pest-free for future guests.
Regarding trash service, there is no service available and any trash left outside will attract wildlife, specifically bears. We provide directions to a trash center less than a mile away and offer to remove the trash for an extra charge of $20, not per bag but for the service. We apologize if this was not communicated clearly.
As hosts, we strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests. We appreciate your comments and will take them into consideration to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you for staying with us.
This cabin is so unique. The view is stunning, and the digs are comfy. Beds are very comfy!! Both bathrooms are extra-large and the one upstairs does have a hydro tub. No need for that though, as the hot tub is working and very soothing. Kitchen is very well stocked and the clean.
Let's talk about the view.....wow, it is majestic. The cicadas were chirping so loud, they almost drowned out the conversation. Two levels of outdoor deck, both of them had swings, which we enjoyed. More than once a comment had been made about how comfortable the rocking chairs were. The whole atmosphere oozes....relax and let it go.
The cabin is tucked away a bit from the main road. Google did a great job of locating the home. The cabin is behind the main house and is clearly marked by signage as we pulled in the driveway.
The owners were very easy to get ahold of and check in was easy. They do have a few things for you to take care of upon check out, but nothing out of the ordinary for a VRBO.
If you want to get away, but still be close, I highly recommend booking this cabin on a cliff.
We were very impressed with this cabin. The view was spectacular and we had the added bonus of snow during our stay. Jenni and John are wonderful hosts and kept in touch with us periodically during our stay. We would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet place that is still close enough to adventure off to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge or Cumberland Gap National Park in Kentucky.
We had an amazing time at this lovely cabin on a cliff. It was clean and had anything that we could possibly need. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and even basic spices and things for cooking. We loved watching the sun rise and set on the deck overlooking the river and the mountains. We saw birds, squirrels, deer and tons of geese. We loved the privacy and peacefulness. We were within an hour of most of the tourist destinations. We had an amazing week and would love to come back one day.
We had a great time at The Cliffhanger cabin. The cabin itself is unique and peaceful with a beautiful view of the French Broad River. It’s away from the tourist packed larger towns in TN but still close enough for day trips to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
I brought my teenage sons but I wouldn’t suggest bringing young children as the property is literally hanging off the side of a cliff and there’s nowhere other than inside the cabin or on one of it’s 3 balconies to roam. The cabin was very clean (I’m extremely picky about cleanliness and consider myself hard to travel with due to this fact) and had everything we needed to enjoy our time in TN. AC worked great and the showers were hot when needed. We hope to visit again someday. Thank you John & Jenni!
We took a trip away from our vacation town in Gulf Shores, This cabin was amazing! The views, the location, the hot water in the showers lasted forever (always an issue when you got kids lol) - we were pleased with the extra touches the owners and the housekeeping left for us! The property was very clean and would give 5 stars! Book it - it’s amazing!

Angela, thank you so much for your review! We love hosting families and couple at this one-of-a-kind cabin! We hope you return to stay again.
My best friend and I stayed at this property for a week and had a lovely time! The hot tub was great, the views were breathtaking and the hosts were super nice...
The only issue we had was with the air conditioning near the end of our stay, but the hosts worked with us to get the issue resolved; they were very helpful throughout our time there!
So, If you want to enjoy a nice getaway and have a quiet place to decompress than this is definitely one to consider!
For instance, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were far enough away that we had the option for peace, yet close enough to drive to should we so choose.
Overall, the cabin was an interesting experience and we hope to visit again in the future! Thank you again John and Jenni for a wonderful place!
The stay was fantastic. So peaceful. Everything I wanted for my 45th Birthday.
Everything is close by. We purchased groceries for the weekend. Had dinner and breakfast on the deck. Coffee in the morning snuggled on the swing watching the sunrise. Hot tube at night. I couldn't have asked for anything more. It was so very peaceful listening to the river in the morning. We hiked to a waterfall at the national park. We will definitely be back. Oh, the gentleman that built the home came and fixed the hot tub. He told us the story of the build and how it was a labor of love for his friend. So much grace in his voice. He left is with this, "Go with God, and God will go with you." Just what I needed to confirm some things. Great stay.
The cabin is very nice and the hosts went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The location is nestled in between the Smokey Mountain National Park, Asheville, NC, Gatlinburg, TN so there is much to do...if you ever want to leave the cabin. With multiple decks overlooking the French Broad River, you have plenty of space. Thanks to our hosts! We had a great time.

Brian, we were glad to host you and we're pleased that you enjoyed the cabin so much. It is a perfect place to get away!
Come back again!
This was a great find! The view is amazing from all levels. Plenty of deck spaces to stretch out. Hot tub! Peace and quiet! The owners are very communicative and located in the main house very close by, if you need assistance with anything. The loft bedroom, while located on the second floor just outside the master bedroom, had a curtained wall that could be closed for privacy. The kitchen had all that we needed. The mechanical lift to bring you up and down the mountain was much appreciated when we had our luggage or groceries in tow. We’d definitely stay there again!

About the host

My husband and I built this cabin as a getaway retreat for him to study and read the Bible. It has evolved over the years from a simple picknick table to this phenomenal two bedrooms two bath cabin with breathtaking views of the mountains and the river. We love to share it with friends and hope that many people will be blessed as they are able to get away and relax in the Tennessee mountains
