Constructed from reclaimed materials by the owner featuring two bedrooms and two full baths w/deluxe showers. We are located 6 miles (3 of the six miles are gravel) from the Appalachian Trail town of Hot Springs, NC and a 45 minute drive from Asheville NC.

Perfect for a relaxing get away and equally great for the outdoor enthusiast!
Sit on the porch and watch the River flow by! Build a campfire and roast some marshmallows, maybe even pitch a tent. Put on your hiking shoes and enjoy some of the many nearby trails.
The French Broad River works great for Kayaks, Canoes, Tubes and Rafts. Put in up river and get out right at your cabin!
We are told by local fishermen that we have one of the best fishing spots on the River! Also, just down the road is a Premier Trout Fishing Creek located in the "Paint Creek Corridor."
Close to Mtn. Bike Trails a world class Trout Fishing Stream, hiking or back packing.
This is a bird watchers paradise! You may catch a glimpse of the resident bald eagle that frequently circles overhead or hear the geese honking as they fly up and down the river in formation.

Pull out your bicycle and ride a 24 mile loop from Paint Creek to Hot Springs or a shorter 12 mile loop through Paint Creek Corridor and back.
One of the greatest features to enjoy is the large, beautiful wrap around porch (NOW WITH HOT TUB!) and the private upper veranda
On the main level you enter from covered car port into open concept, full kitchen/living dining area with table and room to sit at the bar.
Leather Sectional, wood beams and fireplace with stone profile and wood stove insert add to the cozy feel of the cabin.
The bedroom on main level has walk in closet and King Size Bed. Main level bathroom is large w/Washer & Dryer, large tile shower and exit to wrap around covered porch that is 750 sq feet and has multiple doors for entry/exit convenience.

Upstairs, the Master Suite w/King Size bed and en suite bathroom has french doors leading to a private covered veranda overlooking the river. Hear the sounds of the rushing river and bask in the afternoon sun in private.

We hope you can come enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful spot surrounded by the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forest and the French Broad River! Note: Ring Camera installed on door where you enter on carport for added security.

The house was very clean. Host was such great help with information about a spot to kayak from back down to the house. The hot tub worked great and was much enjoyed by us. The Balcony view of the lake was absolutely perfect. Greatest spot ive ever found for good kayaking and beautiful scenery for a great price.

The property was beautiful. The setting couldn’t have been more tranquil and beautiful. Leann, the owner, was so kind and sweet when I met her I felt like I had known her for years. This cabin will definitely meet all your expectations if you’re wanting a place to relax and enjoy nature. Also the little diner in the town of Hot Springs has the best food and kindest people working there.

Love this spot! Cabin is beautifully crafted and well curated. Relaxing vibes nestled on the river with all the amenities you could need. Close enough to town to enjoy Hot Springs but enough off the beating path to disconnect. The host is very responsive and provides timely details. My family and I look forward to coming back next season.

This was our 4th time booking a stay at this beautiful welcoming cabin. If seeking a place of comfort and serenity, Painted Rock cabin is the place to be. We especially enjoyed the soothing sounds of the rapids and the comforting gentle breezes when relaxing on the wrap around porch watching the wildlife. During this stay we were blessed to see a deer cautiously making her way across the river. We were also fortunate to observe a curious baby black cub as he/she explored the area surrounding the cabin while mother bear foraged for food. What a delight! Every stay has proved to be better than the last! With all said, we definitely be returning in the near future.

This house was perfect for our weekend get away. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms were very nice and the beds were very comfortable. We spent most of our time enjoying being outdoors. Leann was very quick to respond to all our questions and even was a huge help when we had an issue with our vehicle. I can't say enough good things about the house. We had to cut our trip short by a day but do plan on returning again in the future.

We had a wonderful trip to Tom and Leanne’s cabin! It was a great getaway for myself and my boys and gave us a chance to relax and unwind. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and sitting on the porch listening to and watching the flow of the river. There were plenty of places around the cabin to walk and explore. We saw a lot of wildlife including turkey, deer, egrets, osprey, geese, river otters, and even a bear cub. We cooked most meals at the cabin which is stocked with all the pots, pans, and cooking utensils you need. There is a well stocked grocery store in Marshall, about 30-35 minutes away. Another highlight of the trip was hiking part of the Appalachian trail around the Lovers Leap Loop. The views are spectacular. There are a couple of restaurants in Hot Springs. We enjoyed the food and the friendly staff at the Spring Creek Tavern, Iron Horse Station, and Vinyl Pies Pizza. The ice cream at Artisun is a must try! We also enjoyed talking with the owners of the Live Bait Shop about local fishing and the staff at the welcome center about all the area has to offer. In the evenings, we slowed things down even more watching movies and working a puzzle together. This was just the trip we needed with beautiful surroundings, plenty of time to relax and just be together. Leanne reached out several times to ensure we had everything we needed and that the trip was going well. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Check-in was super easy, cabin was clean and very spacious. The outdoor deck area and hot tub was a great place to hang out and watch the river flow by. Good hiking nearby and good fishing just a few yards from the deck! Exactly what we were looking for to have a relaxing week and we hope to be back!

About the host

Hosted by Tom & Leann Howard

Host profile image
We are Tom and Leann Howard and have two adult children and a few Boxers. Our son John is the oldest and our youngest is daughter, Jessica. This Craftsman Style Cabin was constructed by us, the Owners.
It has taken a few years and we are so excited to finally be able to share it with others! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the property because of the beauty and abundance of outdoor activities available. Where else can you enjoy the River and Mountains and have the quaint town of Hot Springs nearby and also a short drive to Asheville, NC.
Tom grew up camping in Paint Creek (Just down the road from the Cabin) as a child and spent many summers swimming in the clear cold water and hiking the many trails that the Cherokee National Forest offers. We accidentally stumbled upon this spot on a full moon night after a visit to the Hot Springs Spa Hot Tubs. We fell in love with this spot and couldn't get it out of our minds. It is an amazing place to decompress and enjoy family and friends.

What makes this property unique

River front, private, large outdoor living space with room for several tents in the summer if needed. Also access to 5 acre common area that has pavilion and fire pit and ability to pull out larger rafts there. Common area is owned by 6 different owners inc. us and if you happen to meet them they are a cool bunch to get to know. "There are some restrictions to use of common area." Great place to ride Bicycles, walk, hike, sit around and play music and get inspired by nature. Avid bird watchers tell us that this area is a local hot spot for bird watching. Short drive to Asheville and about an hour and a half to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the areas of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and theme park, Dollywood.
