Unique Space in the Heart of La Bastide

An enormous 120m2 apartment right in the centre of town. Comprising of two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living area, Chez George is an enormous, spacious, and luxurious base from which to enjoy your holiday in Carcassonne. You can enjoy a good night's sleep in our super king size bed, lounge around on our large sofas or chill out with a relaxing bath. We have a fully equipped kitchen, so make yourself at home! The historic 16th century building is located in the centre of the Bastide St Louis, so you will be within walking distance of all the sights of Carcassonne. Place Carnot is a few steps away and the Canal du Midi is only 2 minutes away! Surrounded by restaurants and cafes, you won't be short of places to enjoy a coffee or a glass of red wine with the local speciality of cassoulet.
The apartment has two bedrooms for can easily cater for groups up to 6 people.

Parking: The apartment is located at the centre of the part of town of Carcassonne known as the Bastide. Within the Bastide you have to pay for parking between 9:30 and 12:00 and 2:00 and 7:00 Monday to Friday, and from 9:30 to 12:00 on Saturday. The apartment itself is on a pedestrian street but you can usually find a space on one of the adjacent streets. For free parking you can park outside the Bastide. The closest free parking spots to the apartment are located at the Palais de Justice on Bld Jean Jaures which is less than a 5 minute walk.

Huge Apartment in Excellent Location

The apt is located right in the center of Carcassonne, (walking street) First time visiting Carcassonne, not aware how narrow the street also the internet signals is weak, the GPS could not work properly. The end result we took almost two hours to get to the apt, this is just the typical situation when traveling to many small city/village in Europe. Nicky was very helpful but with difficulty with internet our message did not go through. One suggestion for future travelers not to rely internet nor GPS when travel by car, it can get very confusing thus stressful for the driver, The best way to avoid such confusion is simply instruct how to get the nearest parking lot, say the street name when entering the city where there are proper sign to follow the parking direction. Just a straight forward sentence stating at the entry of the city and the name of the parking lot closest to the apt.

Nice flat

A nice flat but the pictures make it look better than it is. The building is old and has a horrible smell in the lobby. The flat was very comfortable but could use some upgrades. Location was great for shops and restuarants.

Great apartment -well appointed. Great for families

We enjoyed the flat a great deal. It was much larger than we expected and was a really nice place. Great attention to detail (a great kitchen) and extremely clean. It is on a main pedestrian high-street, but we found that a bonus and added to the character and overall experience of our stay. There is a grocery store 200 feet away which was very convenient. Philip was very helpful on check in. Would highly recommend -especially for families or couples travelling together.

This is a great location

We really enjoyed this property. Very nicely situated allowing us to walk to all of the sites in Carcassonne. Many good places to eat nearby. The market three days per week is only two blocks away. It was a bit noisy Saturday evening as a result of entertainment in the cafe bar downstairs but it was over by ten. The apartment is very comfortable and amenities very good

Location, location

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. It is literally a five minute walk from the train station and we had a wonderful car-free week. Teenage son and husband took the bus out to Lac de la Cavayère to do the aerial rope course and zip line (they said it was fantastic), we took the train for a day trip to Toulouse (lots to see), had a walk along the Canal du Midi and spent the rest of the time wandering round Carcassonne. The apartment is huge and there are lots of very thoughtful touches left for you which were much appreciated. Thanks to Phil too who gave great restaurant recommendations and advised us to climb the 232 steps in the Eglise St Vincent to get the best views over Carcasonne. Go, stay in the apartment - you’ll have a great time!

A wonderful stay !

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent two week stay in this spacious, well appointed apartment. We enjoyed the space and all of the home comforts. What a great location.....close to shops for food, the open market and Les Halles for fresh fruit, veg and salad, meat, fish etc. We walked and walked....along The Canal du Midi...to The Cite.....along the river...all easy to do. Great location to access the bus ( Navette ) to and from the airport....also trains to places such as Narbonne, Tolouse, Limoux and bus to the lake... close to canal for boat trips...all great places to visit. The contact and attention given to us at every stage was excellent....thanks once again to Rory and Philip for your help, advice and hospitality.

Roomy and convenient

This apartment is spacious and conveniently located, close to the train station and to the medieval city. It is centrally situated for shopping as well. We managed to find everything desired within a short walk and had a wonderful multi-day stay. Things did get noisy, but we expected as much during World Cup. Absolutely recommend this Carcassonne gem.

Spacious beautiful property right in the heart of town

This is one of the best places I've stayed at and we travel quite a lot with both Airbnb and vrbo. The location is right by the main square and within a half mile walk to the old city. It is right next to s supermarket and numerous cute shops and restaurants. The apartment itself is huge and has two large bedrooms and a large sitting area. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking with oil, spices, etc. There are even beach towels and umbrellas! All in all, a great home base to explore this region.

El apartamento dispone de todo lo necesario y más para tener una magnífica estancia visitando la zona. Se encuentra en la calle más comercial de la ciudad, pero durante nuestra visita no percibimos ruido del exterior. El trato de Rory compañía siempre ha sido atento y ha respondido a nuestras necesidades. Como aspecto a mejorar se deberían reparar algunos radiadores que no funcionan. De todas formas nosotros estuvimos en el mes de diciembre y con los disponibles no pasamos frío. ¡Volveremos!

Fantastic apartment, on top of a fabulous make up shop for our 2 teenage girls! So close to the main square, where there was a wonderful local farmers market. The size of the bedrooms are amazing, nearly too much space! The old shutters on the large windows adds such french charm to the bohemian interior. And thanks for the bottled water and wine upon arrival! Carcassonne is magical, but remember nearly everything closes on Sunday (apart from the endearing Celt bar) Definitely recommend this place

Super location!

Très belle appartement, parfaitement situé dans la vieille ville de Carcassone. A deux pas de la ville fortifiée. Tout l'équipement nécessaire. Très propre. Communication avec le propriétaire furent excellente. Je recommande fortement cette location.

The Star of Carcassonne!!!

Well situated, bright and airy on a couple of very hot days. Get your fitbit on this is a grand apartment with loads of room and large bedrooms. Although over a bar ,the noise of an acoustic guitar wafting upwards from the street was beguiling and non obtrusive. Once you retire to the bedroom quiet descends. I never usually remark on my stays, after all it is not my job to sell this place ,however for what my opinions worth ,this was a wonderful stay.

Super functional apartment in Bastide St-Louis

Now this is the type of appartement I'm expecting when renting for a few days. Everything you need (and not traveling with!) is there: washing liquid, sponges, recycling little bines and even Q-tips! The only thing missing : a toaster. But hey, we are in France. I had croissants instead. Then why 4*? A new coat of paint is desperately needed in the bathroom. And the main public entrace of the building stinks. Really. Communication was quick and clear in emails and on site. Thank guys, great team!

Why they chose this property

This property will awe you as you enter: the scale of it, it's high ceilings and perfect location. But look closer and you will see the signs of the dental surgery that existed for decades previously. Closer again and you might see traces of earlier inhabitants in its 400 year old history.

What makes this property unique

There is a bakery within a few yards, a supermarket across the street, wonderful restaurants around the corner. Taxis, trains and buses within a couple of minutes walk.
