The Park Avenue community, or Uptown as it is known to locals, is a hip and historic, friendly, diverse, revitalizing, medium-density, residential neighborhood adjacent to downtown/bathhouse row with a mixed-use central corridor of locally owned and operated small businesses, mid-century motor courts and a couple of late 19th century mansions. Densely canopied side streets with more modest craftsman, cottage and bungalow homes lead up to the national park lands at the edge of the Ouachita mountains that surround the area.
You are likely to see deer, raccoons, squirrels, wild birds and a well-fed groundhog or two. The house is 100 yards from the edge of National Park lands with lots of wildlife visitors.
HIKING/BIKING: 1 block from the house the moderate .65 mile Pullman Trail for hiking and biking leads through the National Park crossing over Sunset Trail (11 miles hiking only) and ends at the Northwoods Trails (30 miles of hiking and biking).
Grab a cup of coffee or tea and a light bite to eat at Red Light Roastery 3 blocks from the house; or last minute items at a variety store down the street. Visit David F. Watkins Memorial Park 5 blocks from the house to see a day-lighted portion of the 1890`s Hot Springs Creek Tunnel that runs for 3 miles under the city - very cool. Or, follow the architectural tour included in the house welcome book to see great examples of Art Moderne, Victorian, mid-century and other National Register worthy styles throughout the neighborhood.
Uber and taxi services are available to/from the house.
Hot Springs` Intra-City Transit system has a sheltered ADA-accessible bus stop 2 blocks from the home. Public transit can be used Monday through Saturday to access downtown, bathhouse row, many area attractions, shopping, the Farmers` Market, the Greenway Trail (multi-purpose), and the National Park.
High speed EV charging station located 10 blocks from The Harrell House. 2 free charging stations (limited plugs and availability) are located within 1.5 miles.

We fell in love with the natural beauty and genuine people of Hot Springs the moment we arrived in 2005, and we decided to make it our forever home. We are happy we can share comfortable, safe spaces with guests from all walks of life in our beautiful, unique town in the middle of a National Park.
Michelle has a background in community and career development. Max is a US Army veteran experienced in low impact storm water development and water quality practices.
Our love of Hot Springs has translated into volunteering, organizing events, non-profit boards, attending as many festivals as possible, supporting local small businesses, and previously working for the City of Hot Springs. We love being unofficial Hot Springs ambassadors helping our guests make the most of their vacation with the many suprising things to see, do and eat around town!

Why they chose this property
The Park Avenue or Uptown neighborhood as its known to locals, is hip, historic and revitalizing. You'll find people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities working to build this community, and we love that. We like our neighbors. They know our names at the businesses nearby. It's walkable and bikeable with a National Park trailhead to the Northwoods just a block away, and dedicated bike lanes and accessible sidewalks into downtown, which is only 1 mile / 12 blocks away.
We like the landscape. The neighborhood sits in a Ouachita Mountain valley surrounded by National Park forest. Deer, ground hogs, squirrels and wild birds are common. We love the heavy canopy of mature trees over the side streets, and the potted flowers the neighborhood association maintains at the bus stops. We like the mixed us of a central corridor with local businesses and quiet side streets of modest homes of various architectural styles.
