Absolutely perfect! This cozy cabin was the serene escape we needed. Waking up to the sound of birds and the view was magical. Everything was spotless, well-stocked (loved the Popcorn!), and the fireplace made for cozy evenings. Hosts were incredibly helpful, and the location offered privacy. Highly recommend for a true mountain recharge!

Great size property. Nice view of the surrounding mountains. Well stocked with wood for a cozy fire. Property is in a great location if you are looking to head up the mountain to Cataloochee.
We had an amazing family reunion weekend. Loved the elk and the resident cats! The house was perfect!

Very nice property with a perfect sunset view off back decks. Plenty of room for everyone with a nice assortment of bedroom types. Even had some nice wildlife walk by to make the last evening dinner pretty special. Definitely recommend as a place to get family together!
Everything was great except we couldn’t get the dishwasher to work or lock the door when we checked out. And we had trouble with the internet. Still, great time and comfortable accommodations.

Everything was great except we couldn’t get the dishwasher to work or lock the door when we checked out. And we had trouble with the internet. Still, great time and comfortable accommodations.
We had a mini family (siblings) reunion with enough space for each family to be on their own floor. Plenty of amenities to cook for large groups, spread out to play games and relax. With great dining and sights to see within a reasonable driving distance. We’re definitely considering coming back to this property again in the future.
Great house, exactly what we were looking for. The property manager Kim was great to work with and very accommodating. Would recommend for large groups. We will be back for sure.

This cabin was amazing. The beds comfortable, the views breathtaking and the owners thought of everything to make it a great experience for all their guests. We don’t ever stay in the same cabin every year but we will probably go ahead and re-book this house for next fall.

Ashley, thank you so much for the 5-star review! We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Emerald Bear. There's no shame in wanting to stay here again, even if you usually pick different homes! It's such a wonderful home, who could blame you? We welcome you back to this home, but would also happily help you find another Yonder home to stay at in the future!
We enjoyed a wonderful trip to Maggie Valley over the New Years. We had family traveling from Illinois, Florida and NC. It was a great place for us all to meet. The house was a wonderful size, plenty of room for people to spread out our gather together. Everything at the house worked just as it should, including the hot tub. Plus there are beautiful views from the whole house. It was just what we needed.
We really enjoyed the house and location. Very central to doing activities from Asheville to Smoky Mountain NP including Bryson City and Cherokee. Home was cozy and well stocked with great amenities. Tip for non-SUV drivers- down shift to 2nd gear before heading up the gravel drive. It helped a lot. Highly recommend staying at Emerald Bear!

I will bear is an absolutely lovely property, prettier than the pictures! The appointments and furniture are all high-quality. Ditto for the sheets and towels. There are plenty of cleaning supplies, extra toilet paper, towels, and laundry detergent. Things I usually bring to every VRBO, but now we’re in this instance!). We really enjoyed our stay

We're thrilled to hear that you found Emerald Bear to be even more beautiful in person :) It's great to know we could provide everything you needed for a comfortable stay, allowing you to travel a little lighter! We're so glad you enjoyed your time with us and hope to welcome you back in the future for another memorable stay.
Enjoyable stay 6 adults 4 youth. We had our entire family and house layout was great for 3 families.
Only issue was with locks on kitchen and downstairs patio door. These locks require that the handle be rotated CCW before you can lock the deadbolts. Would have been nice if info was included in info package. We do recommend the property.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Emerald Bear. The house had lots of room for our family and they really enjoyed the hot tub and the firepit. The house is close to everything in Maggie Valley, but still feels secluded. The yard was beautiful and I really enjoyed sitting out on the porch. The locks are tricky, but are okay once you figure them out. You will get lots of exercise going up and down the stairs. The stairs between the first and second floor are bare wood and we did have one person slip and fall down the stairs while wearing socks (she was okay though)... Everything else was perfect!
We spent a long weekend with a group of our employees, 12 of us in total, to celebrate an outstanding year for our business. We were stunned at the beauty of the property. The home is immaculate, spacious and has just the right amount of amenities for a large, diverse group. The grounds were well kept. We loved seeing the elk in the early morning hours and the two kitties at night. Even when it rained an entire day of our visit, we were all able to find things to entertain ourselves with, whether ping pong downstairs, corn hole under the balcony, or playing card games around the dining room table. All of our guests were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We highly recommend this property for a large group. We will look into renting this property again next year.

Not so sure
Two of the outside doors did not lock -very disturbing. We had to jam chairs under the door knobs to try and secure them. Some of the pans had food stuck on them. The garage bin was not big enough to support 6 days of garbage, and if we needed to have it emptied it was an additional $35. I do not feel the price we payed was worth it. Also because the description did not detail pots n pans, small kitchen appliances, toilet paper etc

Sandra, thanks for your feedback! We’re deeply sorry that your stay at Emerald Bear was less than what you had expected. Had we been notified of any of these issues, we would’ve done our best to remedy them—sadly, the only issue we were informed of was low propane. We hope you’re doing well!
What a great home, truly a fantastic place to stay.
There are many pros to this place so I'll name a few: 2 king beds, 1 queen, 2 full, large bunk bed, and loft bed with trundle pull out bed. This place really does sleep a lot of people and lets not forget the amazing view!! Also, there wasn't anything we were looking for that we couldn't find. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds and furniture were very comfortable (no complaints from me or any of my family). I think there's more than 4 large TV's in this place so we never had to worry about someone taking over the TV which was nice. The ping pong table got a lot of use by all the kids (way more than I expected) so thank you for that. It also has a large Jacuzzi tub that we did not have the chance to use. Now for the cons: there's only one, the road. It's paved for the 1st 1/2 mile but the last 1/4-1/3 mile is a pretty steep gravel driveway. I had a 15 passenger 2 wheel drive Ford Transit 350 van. I had to drop it down in 1st gear every time to get up to the house but it got there so that was good. For the 1st 6 days of our stay, the end of the road/driveway closest to the house was pretty wash-boarded and I had to find the "sweet spot" to get to the house. On the last 2 days, it had been smoothed out by some kind of machinery and that made all the difference (thank you for that as well). So that's it, a steep gravel road/driveway that's now been smoothed out. I would definitely stay here again.
