Potato Lake House- Beautiful log chalet on pristine Potato Lake.
Potato Lake House- This is a family-oriented cabin. We believe the cabin is the place to make countless memories with those you love most. With that being said, we use this as our cabin first and a vacation rental second. We love the idea of when we are not able to use our cabin, another family can!
If you are looking for a quintessential Northwoods lake house, this is it! The Potato Lake House is a log chalet and offers 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with sleeping arrangements that can accommodate up to 10 people. The open concept floor plan is great for several different occasions and seems to work well for large families. The lake house provides plenty of natural light and stunning views of Potato Lake from nearly every room. Bring your own beverages and enjoy the wet bar downstairs.
Potato Lake is 200+ acres and allows for full recreation; great fishing, water sports, and beautiful sunset cruises on your boat. The boat landing is just down the road for easy access to install your boat and plenty of room to park your boat at our private dock. The fire pit is a great gathering place for evening bonfires and is located just outside the lower level walkout. Feel free to bring yard games and enjoy the space while being near the lake. If it is raining, you are able to escape the elements while sitting in our fantastic screened in porch!
Don't hesitate to come up during the winter months and enjoy the Northwoods snowmobile trails. We promise, there will not be a dull moment at the Potato Lake House, unless you and your family decide to take a step back and relax next to the gas fireplace on the cooler evenings. Pets and smoking are NOT allowed on this property.

For the second year in the row, this was a clean, homey place to spend a week with extended family on the water. The dock is on the small side but provided just enough room for our boat.

Our winter get away was enjoyed by all at the Potato Lake House. Great gathering room with gas fireplace and large enough for those who wanted to be alone. We are excited to return.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Dave! We are already looking forward to hosting you and your group again next winter!
Will stay there again. Clean and very spacious. Only recommendation would be to provide wash clothes in the bathrooms and a patio set out on the bigger part of the deck would have been nice. Otherwise we very very impressed!

The home was lovely, well stocked, and comfortable. The basket with smores ingredients inspired us to get firewood and have a little fire in the backyard one cool Nov evening.
Communication with the host was good!
Need to get away from everyday life? This is the place. Great views with all of the modern conveniences. Beds were very comfortable and house was clean. Bring good food and friends and you have everything you need for a perfect get away.

Thank you for the great feedback. We are happy you enjoyed the cabin, and everything it has to offer a family getaway! We hope to have you back in the future!
We really enjoyed the beautiful cabin! Lots of space for our family of 8. The yard and fire pit were a great surprise. We did know going in that there wouldn’t be a beach area, but we were surprised by the difficulty getting on and off the dock for swimming, we wished there had been a ladder. Great and easy booking as well as great and helpful communication throughout.

Thank you for the feedback, Sarah. We are looking at getting a ladder for the dock. We hope you and your family decide to stay with us again at the PLH!
The gorgeous log home was a perfect getaway for us 7 sisters! We had ample seating to gather around the main floor table to eat and the basement table to play games. Nicely decorated with upscale appliances and a bathroom on each level. If the weather had cooperated, we would have loved to have lounged on the cabin-long deck or screened porch. Perfect place enjoy quiet and beauty. Thanks!

Rented with another family for a long fall weekend getaway. Communication with the host was great, the property was perfect with lots of space and a well appointed kitchen. We loved the great room for gathering in the mornings and evenings, the lower lever for sending the kids to play and watch TV and the firepit for nightly smores. The bedrooms were all great sizes and spread out throughout the house to give everyone their space
Lovely quiet lake with lots of good hiking nearby. We made short day drives to both Spooner and Hayward for lunch as well.
Would definitely recommend and will likely ve back next year!

We are happy to hear the Potato Lake House was a great fit for your family and the family you traveled with. It makes us happy knowing people enjoy the cabin and everything the area has to offer. We hope to host you again next year!
Very nice cabin in perfect area between Spooner, Stone Lake, and Hayward. The cabin s big enough to sleep 10(11?). We spent much of our time around the kitchen bar area because it was the perfect place to gather😊. Great deck too!
A couple suggestions to improve the experience……all the beds and bedding need an upgrade.
The oven worked the first night, but not the second. That was a disappointment. Sometimes these newer touchpad appliances are just not as reliable.

We are happy to hear that you and your friends enjoyed the cabin. I do apologize about the oven not working. As always, we appreciate our guests suggestions about improving our cabin.
Beautiful property; Needs a few outdoor investments
We once again enjoyed our stay at this lovely, clean and welcoming home.. After 3 years with you we do see a few investments that we’d like to see in the property to be able to keep bringing our family here. The bottom 4 stairs to the pier still don’t have a railing! This made it very difficult for little ones and we had someone recovering from a surgery who should have had a railing. This is a safety issue. In addition, In a house that sleeps 10 comfortably, you only have outdoor deck/screen porch seating for 4! Adirondack chairs and a dining table on the deck would be expected. We brought our own card table and a ton of camp chairs…but other homes include this.

Theresa,
We have enjoyed hosting you again this year. We appreciate your honest feedback and will definitely consider making these purchases to help our guests have a better experience!
We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of space and enough bathrooms. The two living/family rooms gave the kids another place to hang out. Love the screened-in porch.
My extended family and I stayed in the Potato Lake house for a long weekend and had a great time. The location is perfect, the home is roomy enough for a large family, and my kids enjoyed all of the games and space to play. It was incredibly easy to check in and out and communication with CJ was excellent. The home was warm, clean, and inviting.
My only recommendations would be mattress toppers, better pillows, and new pans. The pans had a lot of wear but all other appliances and utensils were good!

Erin,
Thank you for your recommendations! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with your family at the Potato Lake House!
Great property for a group gathering. The screen porch entry was a favorite place for this group. The Deck and campfire ring have a perfect view of the lake. The guidance instruction book left by the owner had good detail.
Basic cookware lacked pots and pans. Light switches are not labelled making it difficult to find the right switch to turn on lights. Hand towels and wash clothes were limited.
The Inside fireplace would not come on following the instructions. The fire alarm on the lower level was chirping and needs a new battery.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for letting me know about the smoke detector- I will get the battery changed. We will discuss adding more basic cookware for our future guests.
Our only disappointment was that it was very difficult to dock our pontoon with the other pontoon on the main dock. I would like to suggest the owner rents out their pontoon or do not advertise that you are able to dock a boat. Otherwise it was GREAT.
The Potato Lake log chalet was clean, open, and airy and easily accommodated our needs. We appreciated the clean and empty refrigerators. The ad did not mention that the owner docks a boat, and this complicated our docking, but it did not detract from the fun we had fishing. Highly recommended.

Very nice cabin. CJ was very responsive and we had no issues with anything. Everything was as advertised and we had a very nice stay. The lake is small so we felt a little awkward tubing although there were very few people on the lake to bother. We rented a boat from M&M rental in Hayward. Fishing was good, we caught over 20 Northern, LM bass, and Crappie in 4 days. Would be nice if there were some watercraft available with the rental like kayaks and paddle boat.
