About this property

Adorable Historic Cottage - half mile from downtown Clayton

This beautifully landscaped cottage has been completely restored, yet its original charm of the 1950's was maintained. The furnishings have the feel of an upscale B&B, decorated with antiques, collectible and local artist finds.

It is less than a half mile from charming downtown Clayton, known for its quaint boutiques, upscale antique shops, as well as numerous Farm-to-table restaurants (voted #1 in Georgia). Many of North Georgia Mountain towns are cluttered tourist traps; however, Rabun County’s scenery is well preserved; 80% of the county is National Forrest! The outdoorsman will never run out of things to do - hiking, rafting, fishing, and visiting waterfalls can pack a weekend full. The Garden Cottage is easily accessible and centrally located in Rabun County. Make sure you don’t forget to visit, Tallulah Gorge, the Dillard House, and one of the many wineries.

If you must work while visiting, we have good internet and a designated work area.

THE GARDEN COTTAGE, as described in the words of our guest:
We entered through an inviting screened in porch that we debated immediately about sitting on to take in all the fascinating décor, but we really wanted to get inside and discover what this cottage was all about. Inside an equally delightful and uniquely decorated world awaited. The cottage was everything we needed for a weekend to rest. The owners have done a fantastic job at keeping the cottage Time Era specific. In a way, we felt like we were back at grandma’s house, which was a breath of fresh air. From the holiday décor at Christmas to the handmade quilts, the little decorative touches made this one of the most special homes we have ever had the pleasure of staying.

The attention to detail in this dollhouse of a cottage begs you to discover a surprise in every corner! From cozy morning coffee on the porch, to a restful bubble bath in one of two claw foot tubs, this storybook cottage will enchant and delight. We loved that it had 2 separate bedrooms, with their own bathrooms. I totally fell in love with the stunning master bath (complete with heated floors), and the bed is so soft and comfy, we basically had to force ourselves to get up.

The kitchen is perfectly adorable and fully stocked. Everything in this charming place was clean and appealing with all the fixings of home. We enjoyed the kitchen so much; we didn’t go out to eat, even once. For those that need to do some work while vacationing, the internet is good and there is a designated workspace assigned.

The loving care not only shows inside: we were mesmerized with the beautiful landscape, the outside décor a special touch and surprise at every turn. The garden surrounding the cottage is stunning!

Cozy cabin
My husband and I spent a couple of days here. The place is VERY clean. It was a little noisy due to the traffic but it died down later in the evening. . Didn’t realize it was so close to the main road. The furniture in the living room should be replaced. We did not find it comfortable. Linens and beds were very nice. I wish it was warmer so we could sit on the very nicely decorated porch. We would stay again if they switch out the furniture in the living room.

Such a cosy little stay!
This place was adorable! The host was wonderful, they left us cookies and a guide on all things around the town, hikes, restaurants, shop. They really put a lot into their home and their guests stay. I LOVED the heated floors in the blue bathroom and the tubs. I will say that the wood floors were quite slippery, I did fall once from walking too fast with only socks on. The place felt like a little fairy cottage in the woods. Great location, close to downtown area and hiking spots.

Rabun County was our vacation spot with the kids as they were going up. In 2014 my wife and I bought this cottage, just to see how much we liked the area. It didn't take long to realize that we needed to devise a plan to live here permanently. I've been a professional photographer for 35 years, and love exploring what the world has to offer. No matter where we travel, I'm always counting the days 'til I can get back to Clayton. I am currently a Real Estate Agent in Rabun County. Why they chose this property

We absolutely love everything about this property. We restored every room, without destroying its 1950 charm. We used it for 4 years as a weekend house, and 1 year as our permanent residence. We could live in 800 square feet just fine, but just had too many furnishings and collectibles to just keep in storage. When we gave up this house, we decided to offer it on VBRO to share it with others.

What makes this property unique

Location, Location, Location......is what we like about Toole Street. Walking into town for dinner was one of our favorite things to do. We certainly take advantage of all the tourist type of activities that draw people to this area........but we absolutely love the conveniences of Wal-Mart, Home Depot and even the hospital being one mile away.
