Thank you so much for your kind review, we are so pleased Riggside was perfect for you stay. Hope to see you again in the future. Regards Richard & Lynn
Our 2 families thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riggside, the house is very comfortable - spending the majority of our time in the kitchen/dining/lounge area. It’s just 150yards to the local pub and then about 1mile walking in one direction to Keswick and 1mile in the opposite direction to the Lingholme estate so plenty to do on the doorstep and little need for the car.

Can’t recommend enough. The location of this property is fantastic- on the highest part of Portinscale with views of Skiddaw. Communication with Richard was fantastic, house is like a home from home, so well equipped and with. Fabulous kitchen/ lounge / diner that means the whole family can be together. Absolutely loved this house - we will be back!

The house is situated in the lovely area of Portinscale. The house is up on a hill which gives amazing views that we never tired of looking at. The house was immaculate and felt like home immediately. Waking up those amazing views gave us the best possible start to the day and with Keswick a short walk this place was ideal for us. Cannot recommend highly enough and would add more stars to this review if I could.

A Perfect house in a perfect location
Spacious, Bright, Well Equipped, very clean, with stunning views and great walks from the door
We have stayed in dozens of holiday homes in the Lake District and I have to say this is the best one we have had the pleasure of holidaying in
Richard (The Owner) was perfect - answering any questions we had about the property or any information on the area (and beyond)
Very quiet location but still easy walk to the local amenities and only a short walk along a good footpath into Keswick which has a large Co-op and Booths for your main shopping
Very well equipped - including a very nice coffee machine :)
We had the main double bedroom which was very spacious and had great views - Bed was so comfortable it was hard to leave it in the morning
We loved the sun room and spent most of our time in there as we were lucky with the weather :)
Lovely back garden if you want to sit out during the day
dozens of great walks direct from the door so there is no need to use your car once you have arrived
We will be using Riggside again without hesitation

The house was great. Comfy and warm. The weather not do good.
Unfortunately there was scaffolding up around the house, and workers next door, starting at 8 a.m. I would stay again, and recommend it to friends. Richard was very friendly and helpful. The Lake District is beautiful !

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and found it warm and comfy and that you would return and that you would also recommend Riggside. We are so sorry that we had scaffolding up on the right hand side of the house during your stay, this was necessary to carry out urgent repairs prior to your arrival, sorry we we're unable to get it down during your stay, this was beyond our control.

Great House - Lovely location!
Riggside provided everything we needed. Best thing about the house was plenty of space. Even with 7 of us it never felt crowded, and we spent nearly the whole time in the kitchen, which was such a great living space.
Highly recommended, would love to go back.

Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings
We had a lovely four day weekend at Riggside. It is very well equipped and cosy and very well placed for exploring Keswick and the lakes.
We loved the seating area in the kitchen and could have sat drinking the tassimo coffees all day!
We loved the TV and cosy fire in the master bedroom too. Great touches that set it apart from other cottages.

About the host
Hosted by Richard & Lynn Dixon
This house has been in family for over 5 decades, we completely renovated it in 2008 and regular updates and improves each year, with ground floor extension and additional attic room. we do all the change overs personally to ensure the very highest standards for our guests.
Why they chose this property
We love this house and when we can, we stay as often as possible. It's a great location to explore the Lake District, you can leave your car and walk everywhere. It's only 10/15 minute flat walk in to Keswick town centre from Riggside.
What makes this property unique
The views and sunsets you get from this property must be some of the best in the Lakes. The modern open plan layout is great for large groups and families to celebrate special occasions and spend time together.
