For those who enjoy outdoor sports there is also plenty to do within the surrounding area - windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, walking, cycling, fishing.

And of course Fife has some wonderful golf couses. Most locally are the links courses of Balcomie and Craighead . The world famous Kingsbarns golf course is 2 miles along the coast and St Andrews with its many famous golf courses is situated approximately 10 miles away

Fife also has a host of festivals throughout the year. Check what's on when you plan to visit on the Festivals in Fife website.Fife

The East Neuk of Fife has been described as "Scotland's Riveria" it consists of beautiful fishing villages such as Pittenween, St. Monans and Anstruther and the lovely coastal villages of Elie, Kingsbarns, Upper Largo and Lower Largo and not forgetting the most famous golfing town of St. Andrews.

Crail

Crail was made a Royal Burgh in 1300 by Robert the Bruce and Marketgate which is in the centre was once the largest medieval marketplace in Europe. Crail is steeped in history and Crail Harbour is the most photographed harbour in Scotland. On a Saturday and Sunday there is a small wooden hut beside the harbour where fresh lobster and crab can be bought. There is also a quaint art gallery and coffee shop just a few yards up from the harbour which serves delicious homemade scones served with fresh cream and Jam.

The Golf Hotel which dates back to 1700 is a nice place to go for a pub lunch or dinner. The town has its own Butchers, Bakers and Fruit and Vegetable Shop. It also has two small convenience stores which stock most provisions you will need for your holiday or if you require a greater range or source of produce we recommend several large 'supermarkets' in our information sheets.

There are two art galleries and a pottery shop.
In July there is the Crail Festival which runs from the 20th to the 31st and there are open air concerts, Ceilidh, Sandcastle Competitions and Ghost Walks. In Pittenween which is a 10 minute drive away there is the Pittenween Arts Festival which runs from the 7th to 15th August where local people open up their houses as art galleries for local artists.

Crail lies 10 miles south of St Andrews (shops, cinema, museums, sealife centre, beaches, golf, putting, hotels & restaurants).

The Fife Coastal Path, which stretches for 117 miles, runs from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north. The path is clearly marked out and offers a range of walking experiences from the easy and flat to more challenging terrain .Whether going for a short stroll or as a long distance route there is definitely something for everyone. From the cosmopolitan atmosphere of St. Andrews to the former coal mining towns of central Fife; from the small fishing villages of the East Neuk to the bustling industrial areas of the west, rugged cliffs, award winning beaches, internationally important estuaries and wildlife reserves and ruined castles walking the Fife Coastal Path is an experience not to be missed!

Whether you are looking for peace and tranquillity or action and adventure the Fife Coastal Path can offer you this and much, much more.Watersports: Elie watersports where you can go water-skiing, Kayaking, Banana Boat rides! The watersports centre also hires wetsuits and mountain bikes.

Tennis: Crail, Elie and Anstruther

Loved it!
First class accommodation in the lovely town of Crail. Great base to explore the East Neuk of Fife. Apartment is wonderfully finished and the kids absolutely loved the table tennis table. We will definitely book again next time we are in this fantastic part of the world. Lots of lovely welcoming touches too - thank you!

October week in Crail
We have holidayed many times in the area, in different houses. In fact, we had stayed in a very similar property nearby before, which we loved, but this was even better. Lovely home, superbly equipped and perfectly located. Marion was also kind enough to check in to see how we were getting on. We had a great time.

Excellent base for exploring Fife
We have just spent the week in this property and have been delighted with location, spacious rooms, parking space and excellent wifi. This is one of the best equipped holiday homes we have ever stayed in - with kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms all having the necessary items of very good quality. Marion responded very promptly to all enquiries prior to booking and provided full and clear instructions both in terms of travel and with regard to equipment in the house. We cannot recommend it highly enough - and we enjoyed good food and excellent service in the lovely hotel next door. Bonus!

Really everything was wonderful for our family of 4. There is a wonderful bar and restaurant right next door. We went running and walking all along the coastal path. This two story condo felt newly renovated but homey and well equipped with everything you would need to cook and hang out. Very spacious and comfortable beds, easy short walk to town where there were groceries and cute coffee shop. The host left coffee, milk, bottle of wine, chocolates...all thoughtful. Definitely coming back!

Hi, I’m Marion and we have owned our holiday home, Seabreeze, in the East Neuk village of Crail since 2015. We have really enjoyed renting out our holiday home when we have not been using it ourselves - so much so that we decided to buy another one, this time a pet-friendly one, in Cellardyke which is called Driftwood (Property ID: 11145476).

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Seabreeze as soon as we walked into it. We loved the feeling of space throughout the property, the utility, parking and the garage where we have our table tennis table!!

What makes this property unique

Seabreeze is located next door to the Balcomie Links Hotel which serves lovely food. The beach, harbour, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs are all within easy walking distance.
