This 5 bedroom 3 bath home is perfect for your vacation needs; no matter the season, with large living spaces, screened in porch, and a massive yard. Just minutes from downtown New Buffalo & easy access to all that Harbor Country has to offer. This will be your home away from home.
The Space:
This fully renovated home sleeps 10 and has more than enough space for all of your guests! Through the front porch you enter into the spacious open concept main level living room with fireplace, dining room with large farmhouse style dining table, and a beautifully updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances! A screened in porch off the dining room is a perfect place to relax outdoors. Just steps off of the screened in porch is an uncovered patio that has a Weber charcoal BBQ for guests to use and a fire pit in the back yard. The primary bedroom features a king size bed. Second bedroom features a full sized bed. Bedrooms three, four, and five all feature two twin beds (bedroom four & five are located in the basement). Three full baths to accommodate all of your guests! The rear screened porch is perfect for outdoor entertaining, as well large yard with fire pit!

The surrounding landscape is miles of cute cottages, farms, and vineyards. Wineries, breweries, and fresh produce stands are a bike ride away. The public beach on Townline Rd is less than 1 mile away. Perfect for an adventure, and perhaps even better for retreat, Double D Ranch’s light filled, comfortable and collected space is a truly uncommon base for your getaway.
Getting Around:
Getting here is easy. Being here is transformative. We’re all for planning the perfect weekender, but sometimes a spontaneous getaway is just what the proverbial doctor ordered. At less than 70 miles from downtown Chicago, New Buffalo is the perfect city break. Come see what’s on the other side of the lake.
Easy access to I-94 and just east of Red Arrow Highway, which is the main road through the Harbor Country towns. Lake Michigan is a pleasant 15-25 minute walk straight down Union Pier Rd; several public beaches are a short drive away. House is located just a 5 minute walk to "Downtown" Union Pier shops. There are numerous options for hiking very close by, and a public access site for kayaks and canoes on the Galien River is nearby. Besides nature, the area has a great selection of excellent restaurants, breweries, shops, casinos, and numerous local wineries.
Free parking on the premises (4 spot), parking on the street is not permitted by the township.
Having a car is recommended Uber/Lyft are available as ride share options, but plan ahead for scheduling as they can take some time to arrive dependent on season.
There is an Amtrak Station in New Buffalo, about 4 miles away, which offers service to Chicago, as well as Ann Arbor and Detroit.
Other Things to Note:
Bookings between June and September must be weekly bookings with check in and check out dates only on Fridays.
I.E. summer bookings must be for a durations of either 7, 14, 21, etc. nights.

My family and I absolutely loved the house. From (3) children 5 and under to my 70 year old father, it was the perfect place. The location was great too. Hoping to be back!

This was our annual girls weekend and we couldn’t have asked for a better home. Everything was as described. The home was super clean with a lot of amenities. Mike, our host, was super nice to deal with. We had a few questions for him and he responded quickly. We are already planning next years vacation at this home!
This is a beautiful home, recently renovated with all the amenities. It is in a very quiet street, 15-min walk from Lake Michigan beaches. We had 9 in our party and had plenty of room (and then some), lots to do inside with games in the basement, several awesome TVs, a great screened porch and large backyard for games/s'mores. Host was great, lots of communication and no issues whatsoever.

Everything went great from beginning to end. My family truly enjoyed our time away from home. Spacious enough for everyone to be together and spaced out all at the same time. The basement was great for the kids and young adults! We will return in the summer to enjoy the local attractions.

Two families recently stayed together in this home and it was pretty nearly perfect for our needs! The home is stunning, very clean and well taken care of, and provided such a relaxing environment! The screened-in back porch is heavenly. The front porch chairs are the most comfortable Adirondack chairs I've ever sat in. The gorgeous showers are definitely a highlight! And the large basement with game table, foosball table, and air hockey table provided a great space for kids and kids-at-heart to play.
The house has lots of things you'll need for beach trips: wagons, towels, tubes, an umbrella, tons of beach chairs. There were only five or six beach towels when we stayed, so the house could use a few more of those given the number of people who can stay, so be aware of that. There was also one mountain bike in the garage at the time of our stay.
If traveling with kids, know that there are a number of fragile decorative items. We put everything fragile up high and put it back at the end of our stay, so no problems there.
It's a short drive to multiple public beaches. The Warren Dunes are a must see, and there's a great beach there as well! We also took a day trip to South Haven and rented bikes which was a lot of fun. Definitely check out the lighthouse and the adjacent beach if you're looking for a shorter biking adventure. We rode the Van Buren trail which is 6 miles out and back, and while it was a pleasant ride it wasn't "straight to a beach" as we were told, it actually ends at a campground that you then ride through if you want to get to the lake. We learned later that we would have enjoyed having more time for the lighthouse area better than our long ride, so just be sure you do more research for outings than we did!
Great for two families to share. Plenty of spaces for everyone to spread out including the screened porch and the front porch. Very clean and comfortable space.

There is plenty of space with all of the bedrooms for a family or 2. Plus the basement entertainment options are a bonus for kids
The Kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals. There is a coffee maker with K Cups (and regular) along with bbq tools.

Great experience at the Double D Ranch. The screen porch is such a huge plus. We loved the kitchen and decorating. Bathrooms beautiful. Highly recommend the property for 2 young familes or 2 couples.
This rental is a real gem. It is super clean and up-to-date thanks to a recent top-to-bottom remodel with upgraded materials and appliances not normally seen in a vacation home. The main area is a huge open plan with a monster sectional couch and has a lovely adjoining screened-in porch. The basement is the perfect kids-zone with two bedrooms (4 beds), bathroom and a huge game area. The backyard is large and secluded thanks to woods across the back. The only thing that keeps this from a 5-star is that it's a bit of a hike (0.9 miles) to the beach since it's located 0.3 miles east of Red Arrow Hwy (not clear from the listing). Also, the recommended public beach at Townline was very crowded on Saturday. Thankfully we found the Berrian public beach just north (across from "Lakeview Terrace" on Google) that is almost as close but has much, much more space and street parking in the neighborhood. Finally, one minor thing -- the grill is charcoal and small. I love the taste of charcoal grilling, but cooking for 9 after a day at the beach I prefer the convenience of a good-sized gs grill. BTW, the owner was very responsive. I emailed that we were missing some grill tools and new ones were dropped off the same day.
