This pet friendly home has large fenced in back yard, perfect for your furry friends. Sandy from a long day at the beach? No worries, this house has a private outside rinse area.

Cancellations made 30 days prior to arrival will receive 100% of refund of all monies minus $ 39 Processing Fee and Any Credit Card Convenience Fees Paid.  If less then 30 days: the advanced rent is only refundable subject to the following: The property is re-rented for the same period. Re-rental of less than a full week will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. The Agent will retain a $39.00 processing charge and any convenience fees charged. *Deposits are not refunded for ANY reason (including bad weather).

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are always pleased to return to ShearWater for our summer pilgrimage to the beach. It is such a lovely house with wonderful amenities (the outdoor shower came in handy) on a quiet street that is walkable to the shops and restaurants downtown.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very cute house within walking distance of restaurants and shops. There was an ant issue in the kitchen area, and a mosquito issue around the front door, not sure if there was standing water in the front gutter. The jets weren't working on the jacuzzi tub in the main bedroom.

Updated fisherman's cottage near downtown Chincoteague

This house is a restored fisherman's cottage, just a block off Main St. in Chincoteague. We walked into town for the shops and restaurants every day. The kitchen was well-equipped, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. Our dog enjoyed the large fenced yard, especially the shady spots! There is paint flaking off the windows in one of the upstairs bedrooms, which needs to be addressed.

We were delighted with the upgrades done to Shear Water ... the new fence, the upgraded AC, and the great beach inspired art. The house, with its close location to shops and restaurants, is always our favorite!

Each year, we are able to enjoy the charmingly decorated house, the walking distanceto restaurants and shops, and the quiet life that is Chincoteague. The property is as described - clean and well equipped. We truly love Shearwater and will be back next summer!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family enjoyed this darling cottage that was dog friendly. The location could not have been better, especially with Main Street just a few blocks away. You could walk to restaurants or just meander through the small shops. The house was clean and comfortable. The fenced in back yard was a bonus for our 12 year old lab. I loved the "non hustle and bustle" feeling of this small town. We had plenty of naps on the beach, watched beautiful sunsets-did a whole lot of nothing and enjoyed every minute of it! We can't wait to go back next summer.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house in need of a lot of work. It is not well maintained. The threshold on the back door is completely rotted out and a hazard. The filters in the wall air conditioning units are filthy and clearly never get changed or cleaned. The house smells horrible. There was also an ant problem. The house was not cleaned very well. There was dust under the TV and under the furniture. The furniture is old and gross. The only good thing about this house is it is close to town.

Great week, less than great house

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our time in Chincoteague was great. We experienced a great balance of rest and stuff to do.The house was ok. There were a number of small issues and one notable one. The notable one was mold in one of the bedrooms and the adjacent half bath. There was a lot of very visible mold in the bathroom, rendering the room unusable to us. I mentioned this to the staff at the desk upon checkout and they seemed to know about it and showed a lack of concern.The smaller items were things like not having an appropriate number of keys (we ended up only with workable keys for one of the houses doors), renting king-sized sheets that turned out to not fit the king-sized bed, and being charged a cleaning fee while also having to do most of the cleaning prior to checkout.I'm not the kind to leave a "negative" review, but there were enough things that it added up to being noteworthy. Perhaps their other properties are in better condition, but ours left us wanting.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: our overall vacation experience was great. The property is in an excellent location for both walks to downtown and to the fairgrounds. The pet friendliness was terrific as the backyard was fenced in for our dog's pleasure. The one complaint was that although the cleaning person had done her job, the previous tenants had not cleaned up behind a dog or cat as there was evidence in the closed in porch and on the tablecloth. I think the cleaning person should have seen this and remedied the situation.

Loved the all the reading nooks. Loved the history of the house; a fishing cottage from the 1820's! Could see the bay from the front yard.
