About this property

Gîte de l'Orbize - ST JEAN DE VAUX

A picture-postcard landscape nestled in the heart of the vineyards of the sumptuous Vallée des Vaux, "the little Switzerland of Chalonnaise"! Charming, authentic, traditional early 20th-century house, meticulously restored, boasts a large panoramic balcony terrace and is perched on a hillside, offering panoramic views on the edge of a picturesque, typical village. It is also within easy reach of the delightful wine-growing and commercial towns of Mercurey and Givry (both less than 10 km away, with numerous amenities including supermarkets). Enjoy peace and tranquility in the heart of the unspoiled countryside of the Côte Chalonnaise (protected as a ZNIEFF and various Natura 2000 sites for its rich ecosystems). This sublime, rolling vineyard landscape combines hillside vineyards, vast wild forests, and beautiful hedged meadows, bordering the famous Val d'Or and its renowned Mercurey cru (a leading Côte Chalonnaise cru and one of the oldest AOCs in France). The location is exceptionally privileged, situated on several nature trails, the Romanesque churches circuit, and more. The "Route des Grands Vins" (which extends into the illustrious "Route des Grands Crus" crossing the legendary wine villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Meursault, etc.), 1.5 km from a marked "greenway" (a rich network of identical signposted paths crisscrossing the area between vineyards and the countryside, perfect for hiking or mountain biking) such as the GR7 and GR76 (connected to the renowned GRP "Au Fil des Vignes et des Vallées" and "Grands Crus" trails), 9 km from the Canal du Centre Greenway (a route also worth exploring on relaxing boat trips) adjacent to the "Tour de Bourgogne à vélo" and EuroVelo 6, 11 km from the "Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud" Greenway, 9 km from the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de Saône-et-Loire by bike), 15 km from the "la" cycle route "Voie des Étangs" (Ponds Way), 16 km of the "Voie Verte du Morvan aux Vignobles" (Morvan to Vineyards Green Way), 16 km of the "Voie Verte La Voie des Vignes" (Vineyards Way) Green Way (a 36 km route through the vineyards of Burgundy's Grand Cru wines, among the most prestigious in the world), and 18 km of the Voie Bleue (Blue Way) (along the Saône River) connected to the Voie Verte Bressane (Bresse Green Way). At the crossroads of the Couchois region and the world-renowned vineyards of the Côte de Beaune and Hautes Côtes de Beaune, at the intersection of the Côte d'Or, the Beaune region, the Bresse Bourguignonne, and the Autunois-Morvan (and its natural park). Ideal for exploring the region: 9 km from the Val Dracy clinic, 10 km from Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune (river marina on the Canal du Centre), 15 km from Chagny, famous for its Sunday morning gourmet market, 15 km From Chalon-sur-Saône (designated a "City of Art and History"), 16 km from the spa town of Santenay (with a casino), 25 km from the medieval village of Nolay (with a lake), 27 km from Le Creusot (home to the renowned Combes amusement park / Le Creusot TGV train station 21 km away), 32 km from Saint-Gengoux-le-National ("Cluniac site", a medieval town designated a "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté"), 31 km from Beaune, 41 km from Tournus, 42 km from Autun (designated a "City of Art and History", boasting an invaluable heritage spanning over 2000 years of human presence) and 52 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny. A peaceful haven for a relaxing romantic getaway! A charming, authentic, traditional early 20th-century house, carefully restored, perched on a southeast-facing hillside overlooking a bucolic valley of meadows through which flows a small, fish-filled river. Peace and tranquility abound, nestled on the edge of the vineyards, in the heart of a peaceful residential hamlet on the outskirts of a picturesque little wine-growing village, perfectly preserved in the gentle rolling countryside of the Côtes Chalonnaises (protected as a ZNIEFF and various Natura 2000 sites for its rich fauna and flora). Dynamic and bustling, brimming with character, nestled around a charming old-world square lined with linden trees, boasting an elegant 11th-century Romanesque church and a hot spring-fed swimming pool, the village of Saint-Jean-de-Vaux enjoys a sublime landscaped setting. This setting combines vineyard-covered slopes, gentle meadows, and the wooded hills of a vast, wild forest (offering numerous nature walks and exceptional panoramic viewpoints). It lies at the heart of the sublime "Vallée des Vaux," locally nicknamed "Little Switzerland of Chalon" due to its mild climate, secluded location, and somewhat unique character. A beautifully preserved rural and natural setting, 100% relaxing and rejuvenating. Splendid panoramas and landscapes. Comfortable holiday cottage. Warm, contemporary country charm blending tradition and modernity. A gentle and enchanting atmosphere in a former rural home. Large panoramic terrace, both sunny and shaded, offering beautiful unobstructed views of the vineyard and surrounding countryside.
