About this property
Breathtaking Oceanfront Sunset-Bali Hai Views, A/C + Hideaways Beach Surf Below
Welcome to Hale Honu Aloha ("Home of Turtle Love") at Puu Poa, an updated spacious two-bedroom, two-bath condo on the ocean bluff of Princeville that accommodates up to 4 people. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and directly adjacent to 1-Hotel Hanalei Resort (formerly St Regis Princeville), this is the perfect respite for one or two couples, a couple with two children or a girls’ getaway.
This 3rd floor unit features beautiful Mediterranean floor tiles throughout, flat screen TVs in the living area and master bedroom. There's also a glass-roofed atrium to enjoy your coffee and a good book while watching colorful rainbows swath overhead. And a big plus for those warm tropical afternoons -- central A/C throughout (main room + both bedrooms) -- making it a refreshing place to return after a day in the sun.
The unit has a recently-refurbished lanai (patio) with tile flooring, glass railing and new Fleetwood sliding glass doors plus a propane BBQ, two market umbrellas, lounge chairs and a dining set for 4, making this the perfect place to sit and relax while sipping coffee at sunrise or drinks at sunset, BBQing dinner and watching surfers and sea-life at Hideaways Beach, front and center.
The Condo provides a comfortable, bright, airy living space that takes advantage of the delightful ocean breezes and magical sunset views.
The well-equipped kitchen - including an LG refrigerator with filtered water, microwave and oven, new dishwasher, glass cooktop and granite countertops - overlooks a large, open living room and dining area that offer expansive views of the ocean and mountains from every which way. With ample cabinetry, we offer various kitchen tools (Ninja blender, InstaPot 4-slice Cuisinart toaster, Cuisinart automatic drip coffee maker and Kitchen Aid food processor and more) for those who prefer to cook at home - all while enjoying the best view on island!
The open dining area offers expansive views of the ocean and mountains with a wine fridge nearby to keep your favorite bottles at an optimal temperature. Just below the dining room is a spacious living area with a sectional sofa and plenty of seating to spread out. A Samsung 65" Smart TV and Yamaha Sound bar are mounted on the wall for your viewing pleasure, when the myriad of Pacific hues are not luring your attention away. A large A/C unit mounted on the wall (between living room & atrium) in addition to ceiling fans in every room, keeps the condo comfortable all day long.
The primary en-suite bedroom has a 2nd dedicated, well-mounted A/C unit and ceiling fan along with an uber comfortable Cal-King bed, Smart TV and ample built-in cabinetry and closet space. The spacious primary bedroom opens to the glass-enclosed atrium with mesmerizing views, or closed up for privacy with folding wood-louvered doors. The roomy primary bathroom has an upgraded tiled walk-in shower with a luxurious rain shower head, double sinks, plush linens, shampoo/conditioner and body wash dispensers and plenty of storage.
The 2nd bedroom also has a 3rd dedicated wall-mounted A/C unit, ceiling fan and two twin beds that can be configured into one king bed upon request. There is a large guest bathroom located just outside the bedroom with a bathtub and shower combo (also with a rain showerhead), plus more shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers and washer/dryer appliances + laundry products for our guests' use.
The light-filled glass-enclosed atrium as well as the private lanai off the living room are perfect spots to watch whales (Dec-Apr), dolphins, tropical birds, sailboats, rainbows, surfers --or curl up with a good book on one of the comfy sofas or outdoor lounge chairs with two market umbrellas to keep the shade a-plenty. In the evening, use the gas BBQ to grill while watching Kauai's mesmerizing sunsets over the Pacific ocean and majestic Bali Hai.
This condo comes equipped with all your beach necessities: beach towels, beach chairs, boogie board, ice chest, sun umbrella, snorkeling gear and much more. You'll also find yoga mats, hand weights, tennis rackets and a pickle ball set for 4.
Puu Poa has an immaculate heated swimming pool that is surrounded by a neatly-manicured lawn, tropical flowers and sweeping views across the Pacific. Lounge in the sun or under the shade umbrellas poolside while you soak in the Aloha spirit and ocean views. An outdoor shower refreshes you before or after your pool time. Several foot baths are also scattered throughout the complex for rinsing sandy feet and beach toys.
The grounds of the resort community contain meticulously landscaped gardens and private tennis/pickleball courts backed by majestic mountain views, as well as ample parking. Hideaways Beach, a surfers' delight and intimate gem of a beach, is located just below the condo's ocean bluff. Also be sure to check out Puu Poa Beach located below the recently-opened 1-Hotel Hanalei Resort, a short stroll down a paved staircase alongside the resort. Hanalei Bay’s infamously breathtaking beaches are a short 10-minute drive down the Hanalei Hill.
Activities nearby include seasonal swimming, snorkeling, fishing, tide-pooling, surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking, sightseeing, catamaran tours, botanical gardens, shopping, dining, tennis, pickle ball, golf and more.
The spectacular 1-Hotel Hanalei (previously St Regis Princeville) adjacent to the Puu Poa complex offers several restaurants, bars, cafe and a world-class spa open to the public. Well worth a stroll through this stunning property!
Although this condo is located on the 3rd floor, there are only 8 small steps from street level to the front door. This is the closest level to the parking lot of all Puu Poa floors while still slightly above the lot. There are no elevators. This 3rd floor unit also allows for a far and wide ocean view on the bluff side.

About the host
Hosted by Anne & George, Honu Aloha Properties

Since our first visit to Kauai's north shore in 2004, we were hooked. Every year since that first visit, we’ve come and stayed in Princeville, marking the charming and beautiful north shore “our happy place”.
Aside from Kauai, we love to travel the world - always picking a different country or area to explore, embracing the culture, meeting new people, enjoying the local fare. But Kauai is the one constant in our travels every year - the combination of its natural beauty with the pristine Pacific blue, emerald green mountains and majestic Bali Hai, white sandy beaches, rainbow-kissed skies and breath-taking sunsets make it one of the most unique places in the world.
Our primary residence is CA wine country where we tend an organic olive orchard and try to keep up with 2 big, adorable mutts. We enjoy good wine, good food, a good life - and most importantly, sharing it all with friends and family. Now we are thrilled to share our happiest place, Hale Honu Aloha ("Home of Turtle Love"), with new and old friends alike -- perhaps that's you?
Having spent many nights in various vacation rental homes around the world, we put careful thought and energy into making our homes the most comfortable respite filled with Aloha, especially for our guests.

Why they chose this property
Princeville is Kauai's premier North Shore vacation home spot - a safe, quiet and residential community centered around the world-class Makai Golf Course and lodged between the Pacific Ocean, mountains and Hanalei Bay. With only 56 units in the complex, Puu Poa is an intimate and private property that sits on its own bluff overlooking the ocean. Located at the end of Princeville's main artery, Ka Haku Road, Puu Poa offers an immaculate oceanfront pool, on-site tennis courts (pickle ball too!) and ample parking for its residents and guests. Directly adjacent to the property is the infamous Princeville Resort (formerly St. Regis) where anyone can enjoy world-class spa amenities and several dining options, both casual and formal. (NOTE: The Princeville Resort is closed for major renovations, expected to reopen in 2022.) The pristine Princeville Resort beach (aka Puu Poa Beach), a 5-minute walk down a paved path, is open to the public, as are all beaches in Hawaii. The white sandy beaches of Hanalei Bay are a short 10-minute drive down the hill as is the charming quintessential beach town of Hanalei, the hallmark of North Shore. Just beyond Hanalei are the popular snorkling beaches of Tunnels and Ke'e, well worth the stunning coastal drive to Haena State Park. In the opposite direction, visit Kilauea Lightouse and the town of Kilauea with more unique shops and restaurants, a mere 10-minute drive from Princeville. On your way to Kilauea, stop at Princeville Ranch and take advantage of horseback riding, ATV, zip-lining and helicopter tours. Or stop at PV Eats, a specialty grocery /wine store with a casual eatery offering a full breakfast/lunch/brunch and bar menu.
A 2-mile pedestrian path bordering the Makai golf course will take you through the Princeville community ending at the Princeville Center where you'll find Kauai-owned retail shops, restaurants, banks, post office and Foodland grocery store, covering all your grocery needs.

What makes this property unique
Our unit, Puu Poa #310 is one of few on the entire island that has unique and stunning views of the Bali Hai, mountains, and expansive Pacific Ocean from just about every room as well as the outdoor private lanai. Watch seasonal humpback whales and their young breach from your lanai; surfers riding North Shore's notorious big swells below; Albatross, red-breasted cardinals, Nenes (HI state bird) and other indigenous birds fly right outside your window; and sailboats serenely pass by in the distance.
The sun sets every day just outside your windows making it a most glorious light show and picture perfect moment every day and night.
Within easy walking distance from the condo are several activities for you to enjoy: Princeville Resort and its public beach, Hideaways Beach, Queens Bath, Makai Golf Course, Clubhouse & Cafe, Hideaways Pizza Pub (at Pali Ke Kua) and Happy Talk Restaurant and Sports Bar (at Hanalei Bay Resort).
