Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail adventures await! Please be aware that there is an abundance of wildlife in the evening, the family of deer that pass through are very docile, as are the raccoon, groundhogs, possum, and cats that inhabit the neighborhood. You will f ind that all the wildlife live in harmony with the community.
About the Neighborhood Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.
The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.
From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.

You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. Adorable space with everything you need. We weren’t sure about the neighborhood at first but it was quiet and we felt safe and comfortable the entire visit. Host was very responsive as well. We even enjoyed about a half dozen deer in the backyard one morning! Can definitely recommend this home.
Lisa was very welcoming and easy to contact, her home is close to all the fun of downtown Pittsburgh, and it’s comfortable for relaxing after a day out. Thank you for having us!
Host is very responsive and location for us is convenient to downtown. (Be aware Five Stars doesn’t mean fancy. It’s old in an old neighborhood, but it meets our expectations.)
Very easy to get to off of the highway. Nice and cozy home with all the necessities you should need. Lovely welcome committee out front to say hello. The place was clean and nicely organized.
Lisa was exceptionally kind and responsive! The home was very clean and organized. There was a lot of nice art and it was overall a comfortable feel. The street was quiet and in an easy location to get to. A nice yard for taking our dog out. We really enjoyed our stay and couldn’t have asked for a better host!
Convenient for us, close to family.Location is a neighborhood , but short drives to Northside locations, such as stadiums, children’s museum, etc. Just have to highway to bridges if going downtown or the Strip district.
Check in was super easy, and the house was already nice and cool when I arrived unlike other places I've stayed before. The place was quiet and secure and the neighborhood wildlife added to the relaxing setting.
We enjoyed our stay at this rental for the US Open. It was only an 8 min drive down to the baseball and football stadiums. All descriptions of property were accurate and well represented.
Perfect spot for exploring PGH. Clean & uncluttered small home, quiet & comfortable, on-street parking, easy drive to all parts of city. Fantastic bike trail along the river is 10 min drive. Highly recommend Eastern European restaurant Apteka, w/excellent natural wines, and Gordo’s on Mt Washington (roasted baby carrot tacos on fresh corn tortillas, hibiscus lime sparkler).
Cool to stay in a 125 year old bungalow, well equipped and comfortable. Easy street parking and in a very unique area. Met the host when we arrived....very pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again.
Absolutely loved the decor, very tidy. The kitchen is well appointed, there are plenty of blankets and comfortable bedding. Really lovely place to stay and super reasonable/affordable. Was wonderful!
This property was perfect for my son and I. We had everything that we needed and Pearl the cat greeted us at the door! I would highly recommend Lisa's place!
Very nice little place, only 10 min from downtown. We were able to bring our two dogs which was great, and there was a small grassy area for them out back. Owner was very nice & receptive and made sure our stay was perfect. Would stay here again!
Checkin process was very easy. Nice quiet neighborhood. Close enough to the city and easy to get to all the gteat locations. Beautiful little home that I will definitely keep on my list to stay at.

Why they chose this property
I have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and enjoy being so close to a 259-acre park. I like to say it is like living in the county but having the convenience of the city. It is a very quiet neighborhood, with ample wildlife and is only about a 7 minute drive from all the cities amenities. (Depending on time of day, route taken and traffic). It is close to the North Shore stadiums, restaurants, museums, and biking trails.
I love walking the park and exploring the trails. The 259-acre Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. It is nestled between Perrysville Avenue, Woods Run, and Marshall Avenue, park is known for its wooded trails and dramatically steep hillsides. In the summer you can enjoy the park's swimming pool, playground, ball field, shelters, summertime concerts and movies.
An additional plus is the Pittsburgh Police horse stables. In the morning the exercise the horses, so you never know when you will hear a clop, clop, clopping of hooves coming down the street.
What makes this property unique
The house was built as a homestead, so it is truly a cozy bungalow. I have decorated with original art and lots of pillows and blankets to create a space that feels like comfortable for guests.
