About this property

Three Bedroomed Charentaise Style Gite in Village Location

Le Petit Bijou is in the village of Saint Fraigne in the Charente region of France. The gite is a traditional Charentaise house estimated to be over 250 years old with many original features, decorated by blending traditional style with modern conveniences. The house is situated on an acre plot of which is 1/2 acre mainly laid to lawn, edged by a small river. The heated 10x5m pool has loungers and umbrellas. We have a 6 person hot tub and a games room with pool, table tennis, darts and other facilities.

Exclusive use in summer . Due to covid rules we close the B and B facilities

Great holiday!

Property is very well equipped with everything you're likely to need. Games room facility was also a positive. Hosts were great with local area tips and recommendations and happy to help with any questions..Lots to see and do in the local area. Would recommend as a base for a holiday.

Lovely clean and comfortable accommodation in a quiet village. Jason and Alison were very friendly and helpful. Good size pool that we used everyday although games room was a little tired. Would definitely return again.

Perfect holiday

We were welcomed to the property by Jason and Alison, they were great hosts and always ready to help with advice and suggestions about the local area. The house was lovely and was exactly what we needed, The swimming pool was amazing and many happy memories have been made from this holiday.

Family Summer Vacation

We enjoyed our stay, spent mainly relaxing in the beautiful garden, chilling in the pool and helping with the chickens. Our impressionist painting lesson with a local artist was great. Jason and Alison helped with everything we asked.

Jason was a great host, very helpful and friendly. The games barn is the best we’ve ever found, really good quality pool table, ping pong, fitness machines etc kept us all entertained. The house was exactly as described and the garden large, with good play equipment. Nice little village with great blue avarie and a bar.

We had a lovely 10 days here with our two children (6 & 1). They loved the pool, trampoline and games room and were never bored. Jason and Alison were great, listening to our daughter natter on and show off her new swimming skills! Nothing was too much trouble and they gave great advice about places to go. Although the village appears to be away from it all, we found plenty to do - lots of chateaus, cognac, pretty villages, and the two lakes nearby were great for swimming and beach fun. It was super hot whilst we were there (38degrees) which made it a little difficult to sleep at night - perhaps a couple of fans in the bedrooms. I’d also like a few more pillows, but that is a personal choice. Overall it was the best family holiday we have been on simply for the fact that there was so much for the kids to do there was never the pressure of hearing ‘i’m Bored!’ Thank you Jason and alison

zalige vakantie

Het huis ligt in een zeer rustig dorpje, maar fantastisch gelegen in de natuur. De woning zelf heeft ook een zeer grote tuin met veel groen, een beekje op het einde van de tuin, en alles wat je als gezin nodig hebt. Er is een bakker op wandelafstand, de supermarkt is 8min rijden met de wagen. De keuken is ook goed voorzien van keukengerief. Jason is een zeer goeie gastheer, zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Wij hebben enorm genoten van onze vakantie daar, van de rust, de natuur, het leuke zwembad (met veel opblaasspeelgoed voor de kinderen). Kortom: een aanrader!

Le jardin est vraiment super. Les chambres sont spacieuses. Beaucoup de jeux pour les enfants, super velos..Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques. Quelques équipements sont vetustes, comme le frigo. Et des imprecisions dans l'annonce ( ex:pas.de seche linge, piscine non chauffée) Nous avons passé de bonnes vacances.

Un jardin pitoresque

Le jardin est vraiment magnifique. Il y a toutes les commodités essentielles pour de bonnes vacances. Le seul petit hic, c'est le manque d'isolation phonique dans chaque pièce. Les cloisons sont très fines et le parquet grince énormément. Si ce n'est ça, le propriétaire était très disponible et très sympathique. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ce mignon petit village.

La parenthèse magique

Nous avons été très bien reçus. Le calme des environs et le jardin immense nous ont permis de passer un moment calme et de profiter ensemble de la piscine, des barbecue. Petit plus la salle de jeu pour adulte avec billard, baby-foot et table de ping pong et jeux extérieurs pour les enfants. Je recommande fortement cette location. Un grand merci aux propriétaires.

En campagne, dans un très joli village, la maison est conforme au descriptif et fonctionnelle. Le parc est magnifiquement arboré, la piscine très agréable. Alison et Jason sont très discrets et toujours à disposition si besoin. Tous les ingrédients pour se reposer et se ressourcer. Salle de jeux et méga trampoline pour les enfants. J'y retournerai avec grand plaisir pour retrouver aussi les poules (qui me manquent terriblement !)

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce gîte idéal pour se ressourcer en famille ou entre amis. La maison est charmante et le parc extraordinaire. Tout est fait pour se reposer et s amuser en toute sécurité (les jeunes enfants peuvent s occuper des heures durant sans souci) Jason et Alison sont des hôtes d une extrême gentillesse, très discrets et disponibles à la fois. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir !! Greg Sonia et les enfants (à qui les poules manquent beaucoup !)

We moved from UK to the beautiful village of St Fraigne in October 2015. We gave up our busy jobs of Mortgage Advisor and Early Years Practitioner to enjoy the 'French life'. This was the start of our new adventure.

Why they chose this property

A beautiful working farming village location with an award winning boulangarie and a bar only 2 minutes walk away. We fell in love with the village at first sight and decided we wanted to live in St Fraigne, and within 3 months had bought our dream property. The property has the character of a typical French stone built house with up to date amenities.

What makes this property unique

A beautiful pool in a large garden ideal for relaxing moments. Lots of long walks and bike rides to keep you occupied.Many local lakes with fishing swimming and sand. Ideal base for visiting Poitiers, Angouleme (both with numerous attractions), La Rochelle, chateaux and the coast. The towns of Ruffec and Rouillac are within easy reach for cash machines, fuel, shopping and local markets. We are within a five our drive of Roscoff, Caen, St Malo and Dieppe, Calais and Cherberg are slightly longer drives. A fantastic base for exploring the wonderful Charente countryside!
