We love this cabin! We have stayed here twice and plan to continue coming back! It is perfect for a couple our a small family. We enjoyed walking around the property, paddle boating on the lake, buiding a fire and enjoying nature! Great place if you just want to get away and relax.
Everything was very nice and met expectations. We enjoyed the seclusion and peace. Everything we did was within a 30 minute drive and very convenient. We look to plan another trip in the future.
Loved staying here and the surrounding area was beautiful! Walking the trail to the pond on the property was neat and the owners were great! Evenings and early mornings were spent around the fire pit or on the porch swing. Definitely worth another visit!
The property is off the beaten path, which was amazing for a fall getaway. Outdoor spaces were wonderful for enjoying the crisp air and the changing leaves. The bed is comfortable! It was a cozy place to spend a few days away from the city. I would come back!
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin, enjoyed the beautiful scenery and all the nearby activities. Owners were very generous, helping us out with some travel difficulties, thank you again! Will be back!
Stay was great! this is the 2nd time we have stayed in this cabin. It was much cleaner the first time. It was not as clean this time but it wasn't terrible. I would definitely recommend!!
In the Hot Springs area for the eclipse, this was the ideal cabin. We watched from the pond area in a lovely setting. Very comfortable cabin with everything we needed. And the hospitality was really appreciated... The eclipse candies for the kids were a real treat! Thanks for helping us make a great memory!
Spacious, well-equipped cabin in quiet location. Remote enough for peaceful getaway but still convenient to Hot Springs and local state parks and activities. Cabin shows a little wear but was spotless clean with comfy beds and linens. Owners very helpful with excellent directions and communication. Recommend a visit to the nearby Garvan Woodland Gardens.

We are so delighted to know that you were able to visit Many attractions in Hot Springs and surrounding parks. You’re correct about a little wear. While Karl and Betty have recently taken ownership of the cabins, they have been working tirelessly to update them. Please know, we’re not finished yet! We also hope to add an outdoor sauna too! We hope you come again and see all we have added. Manager: Christy
We had a great stay! Communication with property manager was great in the one time we needed it. Great views and quiet space. I would recommend a deep detail clean and upgrading pots and pans but other than that I would recommend this 100%. The multiple cabins would be great for multiple couples/ small families to stay in!

First time
The fact that it wasn't in a park type setting was very enjoyable. This made it more relaxing. Never heard from owner or manager and i'm ok with that.
1 small issue was that when i removed the toaster from the cabinet there were crumbs/dust bunnies/unidentifiable particles on the shelf holding the toaster. The top plates and saucers also had unidentifiable particles on them. This was not a deal breaker I just thought someone would have checked that before we arrived. We will come back.
This was our first trip to Hot Springs so we really didn’t quite know what to expect. The cabin was remote and peaceful, although expect a 20 to 40 minute drive to the Hot Springs attractions. The cabin had everything we needed. My only complaint is the hot tub… there is one hot tub for several cabins to share…. and it was freezing. That being said, the property manager responded to my text right away and offered to come look at the hot tub. She walked me through changing the settings over the phone. But sadly it never did warm up. If a private hot hot tub is what you are looking for, this is not it. But if that is not a deal breaker, then I would definitely recommend this cabin!
The overall experience was great. Cabin was fantastic. Location was excellent. And the views were even better. One misleading post about the property was the pond to fish in. One reason we booked this spot was because it had a place for me to fish while my wife took naps. But the pond was about half the size of an average front yard and about 3 ft deep in the middle of the lake. Obviously, no fish what so ever. Couple minnows.. but that’s it. That was really disappointing. Also, the hot tub is actually in between two other cabins and kind of makes it difficult for you to walk over there and seem like you’re using the other guests hot tub. We also couldn’t get it up to temp. Wouldn’t get hotter than 91 degrees. But.. the cabin was very nice and relaxing and clean and we enjoyed our stay. Very much.

We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay overall.
Addressing your issues, first we have had no significant rain in our area since the last week of July. That is what contributes to the pond water and its level. We, the owners and I, are very concerned about it and the health of the fish and plant-life. There's nothing we can do to raise the water level. Like most of the state of Arkansas and surrounding areas, we definitely hope we get rain soon.
In the description of the property we have stated where the hot tub is located. I'm sorry you weren't aware of that or somehow overlooked it. I did empty and clean the hot tub Sunday morning. The water was set to 100 after refilling it. I did notice Monday morning, the day of your departure, that the hot tub was set on "ec" which is economy mode and will not heat above 90 degrees. You could have contacted me directly and I would have explained how to fix it.
We hope you decide to visit again and hopefully the pond will over flowing.

Cute and clean cabin. A little further out than we expected, as we were primarily visiting the Hot Springs area. Had some difficulty finding it at night. I would recommend a solar spotlight for the sign by the gate, as we were unable to see it and ended up missing it and driving up someone’s private drive. We felt that the advertised “jacuzzi with a Mountain View” was misleading and we were definitely disappointed by that. Also, the shared hot tub is a cute little area, but it still felt awkward. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the swing on the back porch. As far as the communication, they were easy to reach, which we certainly appreciated. I felt like the quantity of messages prior to checking in was excessive. It was mentioned that it was sent that way due to stipulations by VRBO. However, most rental still communicate everything without it being excessive and too many messages to even look through. I recommend having a small binder or folder with the information in it instead.

I’m sorry that you were disappointed with our location. We do state that we are a short drive to Hot Springs and other areas. We are centrally located to several areas, Hot Springs being the most popular for most tourists wanting to see the “Natural Hot Springs” and gangster history. Bismarck has a lot to offer as well.
Your recommendation for a spotlight on the sign is a good one, the sign for the Bar 50 Ranch isn’t our sign or property. It’s a landmark we reference to aid guests to access our property.
The view from the jetted/Jacuzzi soaking tub is the same view as the back porch swing. We’re sorry that it too isn’t what you were hoping for. Other guests mention opening the window for an unobstructed view.
My apologies for sending so many messages. You asked for recommendations for things to do in the area, I thought I was helping you since you had not been here before. This is my home and I am so excited to share what I know with others.

Our much needed get away
We loved the seclusion and location.
Upon entering the cabin, there was an overwhelming smell of mold, and it was quickly noted that there was mold at the peak of the roof, which looks to have been painted over several times.
There was mold noted in the bathroom at the floor level next to the bathtub. We also noticed a moldy stench under the kitchen sink. In order to cover up the mold smell, we left the air conditioner on 62 all weekend and burned firewood in the fireplace to take away the odor.
We saw and killed several cockroaches that we found mainly around the kitchen sink area.
The refrigerator did not get as cold as it should have, but the freezer worked well.
The floor was covered with crumbs and dirt.
We didn’t think pets were allowed, but noted some kind of animal hair on the furniture which came off on our clothes.
The surfaces were dusty.
The kitchen was well-stocked with the utensils we needed to use for cooking, but we made sure to wash every item with hot soapy water before use due to the cockroaches.
We did speak with the manager before our departure.
The cabin is very quiet and secluded. It is a beautiful property with lake, barn and hiking trails. The whole time we were there we didn't see anybody at all, which is what we wanted. The trees are tall and they are so beautiful in the fall with the red and orange colors. The cabin itself is very clean inside. A cozy small cabin perfect for family of 4 to stay comfortably. The beds are really comfortable especially the King bed in the master bedroom (upstairs). All the linens and bath towels are of high quality, very soft and there are plenty of them. The water pressure in the bathroom is excellent. The back porch has a swing and a picnic table for 4 to sit. It is a great place to read a book or eat our lunch. Just a mile from the property is a Dollar General store. You can't find fresh meat, vegetables or fruits but it has basic necessities like bread, eggs, milk, juice and frozen vegetables which are enough for us since we packed our own meat and fruits. The kitchen is a cabin size kitchen. The water pressure in the kitchen faucet is quite low. Limited number of plates and bowls for 4-6 people, but lots of silverware. There is a bbq grill outside that can be used. The communication with the manager is very fast. Everytime we have questions whether it is about how to use things in the cabin or recommended places to go, we got answers right away. Definitely would come back again next time.

Despite several cons, overall, we had an amazing time!
Pros:
- Amazing hosts! So quick to respond to any questions and gave us detailed info about our cabin prior to arrival.
- Beautiful view! The tub near the window was our favorite touch. We also loved the jacuzzi overlooking the trees.
- Many kitchen items provided like dishes, cooking pots/pans, cooking utensils, foil, oil, seasonings, toaster, and blender.
- Stocked with towels and blankets plus other miscellaneous items such as makeup wipes, shower soap, granola bars, and coffee supplies.
- Plenty of wood for the indoor stove and outdoor chimenea which we definitely put to use!
- The smart TV was ideal for movie nights.
Cons:
- Low sink pressure so you’ll want to bring plastic ware as it’s difficult to wash the dishes provided.
- Tiny kitchen makes it hard to cook but it was nice having the outside fire pit to grill.
- Upstairs bath does not get hot but it’s warm enough to sit in so if you’re wanting a hot bath, the water downstairs gets to a great temperature!
- Next door to 3 other cabins so you don’t get total isolation even though it feels like you should for being so far out and deep in the woods. Although, it worked out for us since the other cabins weren’t booked out!
- You can see directly to the upstairs bedroom from the driveway path through the window so just be mindful of that 😅
- No scissors or cleaning products, such as multi-purpose spray, available so you may want to bring your own!

Dear Kendall,
Thank you for your extended review! We are delighted that you had such an amazing time.
I just want to address a couple of your cons:
1. The kitchen sink faucet got an abrupt blockage that hadn't been previously documented. Unfortunately, it took a few days to get a new faucet installed, which was after your departure. Our apologies! There is no longer an issue with low water pressure in the kitchen faucet.
2. We have an instant water heater in the cabins which provide unlimited hot water. It may take a few minutes to reach target water temperature. This temperature can be adjusted if needed. Just let us know.
3. In cabin 2 there are large windows of an unusual shape up high that look onto the property. We have searched for solutions that could provide additional privacy at night. Glazing the windows have not been well received as there is no way to both see outside while blocking the inside view. We are looking at a possible curtain barrier on the second level that could be drawn for additional privacy. Fortunately, there are very few potential people out at night, but we certainly understand your caution.
Best regards and we hope to see you back in the future!
Karl
We absolutely adored our cabin! We stayed for 3 nights. The cabin was super clean and furnished with plenty of towels. It's well outside of town off of a gravel road that had literally no traffic outside of the people staying in other cabins. At night all we heard were crickets, frogs, owls and coyotes! There are a lot of close trees so we couldn't see much of the night sky, but what we could see was dark with lots of stars.
We stayed in cabin #1. Only two small negatives for us (though these may not necessarily be negatives for others):
1. There were 2 cabins on the lot. we were really looking for something totally secluded from everything and everyone, so we were a little disappointed when we drove up and saw another cabin right next to ours. It was empty on our first night and then occupied for the next two nights.
2. The "back" porch is entirely visible from the road. This wasn't an issue on the first night since no one else was on the property, but the next couple of nights there were a few times either someone walked by or a vehicle drove by. the back porch on Cabin #2 is opposite the road and faces just trees. We definitely would have preferred something like that.
As I said, those may not necessarily be negatives for others. Even though the cabin wasn't 100% secluded it was still plenty quiet the whole time we were there. We definitely recommend it for anyone that needs some peace and quiet!
Beautiful cabin overlooking the mountains. Very secluded and peaceful. The cabin was very clean and laid out beautifully and the bonus was an already decorated Christmas tree.
We grew up in Little Rock, AR and went to the same high school, although we didn't know each other at that time. We have been married for 37 years and have two grown children. We love to travel locally, nationally, and internationally. We have been guests of vacation rentals across the U.S. and the world for many years, and finally decided to become hosts. We live in Benton, AR but spend many of our weekends enjoying a home adjacent to the Hidden Ridge Cabins property. We enjoy meeting people, so if you are so inclined, don't hesitate to say hello if you see us during your trip. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to make your vacation more enjoyable!
Why they chose this property
In around 2003, our family and another family vacationed together at the then Bar Fifty Ranch. We had a wonderful family and friend vacation that we talked about for years. Fast forwarding almost 17 years, we discovered that the owners were retiring and selling parcels of Bar Fifty at the same time we were searching for our own getaway. It was perfect timing for us to acquire and rekindle our love for this rural retreat just outside the excitement of Hot Springs, AR.
What makes this property unique
Secluded cabin with all the amenities of home will be your perfect couples retreat. Stay at the property and enjoy all of the relaxation, scenery, and local adventures or venture into Hot Springs and surrounding area for world-class tourism. Located just off Interstate 30, it is easily reached from anywhere in Arkansas and all surrounding states. Be our guests at Hidden Ridge Cabins and let your Arkansas memories begin!
