Confusing check in, address/unit number was different than the listing, did not stay here

We spent several hours trying to get in to the rental via a lock box. The host was at work and unresponsive - an on-site maintenance person was trying to help, but the chalet number from the listing was not the one we were supposed to stay in. After a few hours of waiting for a response from host and VRBO customer service, we were able to open a chalet with a lock box. All of the windows were open, beds were not made and there were no towels. We then could not get the door to lock and a neighbor came over to explain the lock and tell us that the hosts own several other chalets and guests frequently have similar problems. Once we realized we couldn’t shower or lock the door we decided that this was so bizarre and didn’t feel safe. We ended up staying in another town. This was very stressful and I cannot recommend this rental.
