About the host
Hosted by Miriam McCarville
I am a metal art sculpture/glass fusion Artist and my husband Doug is a retired Rocket Scientist and University Professor. We love our island and want to share our beautiful guest house Osprey Nest with others looking to rejuvenate and find purpose in this hectic world. This Island is Magical!
Why they chose this property
There is just too much to do on the island (whaling, biking, hiking, fishing golfing, shopping, art, restaurants, wine tasting, and a brewery) or perhaps just for once “nothing”. Please treat the Nest like your home.
What makes this property unique
You're privacy is paramount. You can check-in, stay and leave with no host interactions, But,if you’re of a mind to socialize, text to see if we’re home and come by to see our 3-story painted mural of Pacific Northwest Orcas Island art. It features salmon, crab, shrimp, clams, orcas, whales, scuba diver, treasure chest, birds, salmon, deer, eagles, dog, cat, waterfall, trees, planets, Starship Enterprise and Mir's favorite, Mama Earth swinging on a moon swing sprinkling moon dust over Orcas Island from the heaven's.
The Osprey Nest is a two-story San Juan County permitted cabin (PPROV0-18-0023). Sunny top floor, full kitchen (stocked with spices, cookware and dinnerware for 8+), dining room, family room (with 50-inch flat screen), master (with king bed and 32-inch TV), full bath, fireplace and full-length deck (with a barbecue). You can use the dumb waiter to bring up wood for the fireplace or breeze around the solid oak spiral staircase. Downstairs are two sleeping areas, a half bath and a game room. One with a queen and 32-inch TV and the other with a king (perfect for playing video games or watching movies on the 50-inch flat screen). The game room has pool, ping pong, foosball, darts, gaming table, pull out couch, and 36-inch TV. Start your day with a hot cup (coffee, tea, chocolate, or cider) from the Keurig or French press and sit on the deck listening to the birds, watching eagles soar or having a stare down contest with a deer. Once motivated, feel free to browse majestic firs and cedars and set out wood for the fire pit/evening s'mores fest. Don’t leave the real world behind. Check the morning news, browse 75 cable channels or connect to the high-speed wireless to check your stocks, get a little work done or upload pictures to make your friends envious. There is a big private yard for outdoor games (bocce ball, hula hoops, football, ring toss, croquet, badminton and horseshoes). Children under 2 are not counted in guest occupancy total.
