Kawakawa Cottage, Pepin Island
Nestled on the picturesque Pepin Island, Kawakawa Cottage is the perfect tiny house living experience! Just a 20-minute drive from Nelson, this cozy getaway accommodates up to 4 guests, making it ideal for friends or families who want to experience island life with all the comforts of a nearby city . Simply drive on our coastal road to enter and exit the island! No need to take a boat or ferry to get on Pepin Island.
Kawakawa Cottage is our closest cottage to the beach, you literally a few steps away.
1st bedroom has a Queen bed and window overlooking the garden. The 2nd bedroom is a unique loft stay accessed by a ladder, this room is only suitable for a child. This loft also includes a Queen bed and two side velux style windows!
The kitchen is compact and modern and Includes a fridge, freezer, 4 burner gas cooktop, sink, dishwasher, toaster, water kettle, coffee plunger, wine glasses, cutlery and cooking essentials. There are stools at the bar to sit and eat or enjoy the nearby sofa or outdoor seating area!
The bathroom offers a shower and compost toilet. You will find instructions laid out for you!
The front deck is a beautiful spot to relax, grill on the BBQ and take in the fresh air. If you fancy a stroll, you are only a few minutes walk from Cable Bay Beach!
Kawakawa Cottage is named after a New Zealand pepper tree. The name means, “the bitter taste of the leaves”. This leaf is used for ceremonies, including removing tapu. It is also used for medicinal purposes and is known for its healing & restorative properties. It originates from the North Island of New Zealand.
