Equivalent car to rent on the Island for 2 days throughout the year is overNZ$300.
Sealink Car Ferry from Halfmoon Bay to Kennedy Point (Waiheke), car and 1 adult return is over NZ$300
All we ask guests is to refill before returning it to the Matiatia carpark.

Full comprehensive Insurance covers drivers 25 or older and have held a full clean (no convictions) license for 2 years or longer.
Insurance excess (deductible) is NZ$1000 (maybe higher for international drivers)

Car is parked a short walk from where the Fullers Ferry from Auckland City arrives at Matiatia (Waiheke) and will be available from 2pm. To be returned no later than 1pm on the day of your departure.

Each stay includes a $100 fee for linen, towels and exit clean.

To discover the amazing views and complete privacy Whisper Cottage enjoys our guests will first need to circumnavigate up the meandering path including a number of steps from the carparking area. This may be a problem for guests of a certain vintage when travelling with luggage for extended stays.”

Wonderful place to stay

Property is an ideal location away from the main activity on the Island but close enough to enjoy everything the island has to offer. Great place, wonderful views, quiet and peaceful with all the amenities. The advantage of having a car in with the property is significant enabling you to get out and about without relying on taxis or buses - gives you the freedom to enjoy the island.

Whisper Cottage

Car availabilty and spa both valuable. The outdoor stairs a little disconcerting at night and upon arrival, however the climb was worth it. Cottage beautifully clean and very well maintained. Thank you.

This cottage is a charming place where you will feel so relax. The location secluded in the forest with an awesome view on Onetangui bay, is ideal to discover Waiheke Island. We can only advise everybody to stay in this cozy cottage which offers all the necessary and even the owner's own car, a real plus to easily enjoy all the wonderful places on the island. Peaceful, lovely house with amazing views

Everything was perfect- we enjoyed the great sea views in the daytime and the outside spa at night. The house was spacious, light filled and very well equipped. The car is a huge bonus for exploring beyond the lovely local area. Peter was a very friendly and responsive host. Thank you for the stay!

Fabulous property in Onetangi

As you can see by the photos, the view is amazing, and it is better in person. Peter was an amazing host, answering questions on a moments notice. I would recommend this rental to everyone I know.

Lovely holiday and the car was a fantastic asset. House beautiful and location and views amazing. One thing i would say prior to arriving we did not know there would be 50 plus steps to the property. Carrying suitcases etc was hard work. Saying that i would use again.

Great place to stay on Waiheke

This is a great place to stay, it's away from the bustle of Oneroa yet close enough to everything. Having a car included is a big plus. The place itself is stunning, with a great view of the water. The laundry facilities work great, and there's two drying racks (I wish more places had two!). The shower was hot. The bed was firm and comfortable. There's a separate a/c unit in the bedroom which we liked. The water is filtered but it's recommended to drink bottled water; there's a Four Square about a five minute drive away that sells 5L waters. We loved our stay here and would stay again

A fantastic house with an awesome view in the forest overlooking Onetangi Bay.

This is a great house with an awesome deck and hot tub. It is a completely stand alone house in the forest. The house is located on the hill overlooking the bay at 110M elevation. A couple things to keep in mind when you rent this property. 1-The car parking spot is fifty stair steps below the house. 2-The parking spot leaves the car 1/4 into the road so something to consider if you are brining your own car. There is no space for a second car.The car that comes with the house is a true “Island Car” but runs well.

Waiheke Getaway

We had a lovely time on the island with our sister and brother-in-law driving around the island doesn't take very long but you have to keep your eyes on the narrow roads. The house was lovely with a great view, it would be even better in the summer.

My partner and I have been together for over 23 years. In 2013 my partners work had us depart Auckland for Singapore. Here we enjoyed experiencing everything this beautiful city has to offer including the opportunity to travel to a number of its neighboring countries. 2017 saw us move to Melbourne Australia.
Prior to departing New Zealand, we lived and worked in Auckland which allowed us to spend time on Waiheke Island.

Why they chose this property

A born and bred New Zealander. Going to the Bach (holiday home) for weekends and holidays was a regular event. Whether this was at my families Bach or those of friends and families the formula was always the same. Kick back, relax while enjoying a simpler life. I knew after one such visit to Onetangi beach, Waiheke Island, that this is where I would one day continue experiencing the good life at my very own humble Kiwi Bach. Many years later, me and my partner Massimo, who shares my love for Waiheke, saw and fell in love with Whisper Cottage. Admittedly the kiwi Bach has evolved somewhat since my youth but I would like to think the experienced is the same. We have enjoyed sharing our little piece of paradise with guests from all parts of the world since 2007 and plan to for many more.

Cottage enjoys a very warm sheltered position surrounded by beautiful native bush which provides unparalleled privacy. One can enjoy outdoor living taking in the views on the coolest sunny winters day.
