Great stay but not worth the price
Ten Tawa is a beautiful home; stunning views of Oneroa from above, central to main sites and attractions for Waiheke, stone’s throw away from the beach down below, and is incredibly spacious for a family or group of 6 or so. Sonos system around the whole house really offers a great vibe. But that may be where the novelty ends. The place might’ve been tidy to the eye but look closer and it felt like the floors hadn’t been mopped, window sills and most surfaces hadn’t been wiped down and the fridge had just been emptied but not wiped or cleaned down. We were curious as to how the cleaning fee can be so high yet there was no sign of actual cleaning but more of a tidy up and putting things back in place. Linens were washed and pressed neatly so thanks team Ten Tawa but you could tell every other upholstered/ furniture/ decor piece never sees a regular clean. Glasses had all the marks and stains on them— we washed them thoroughly before use which can be an extra thing when trying to be cautious about water use on the island. Slide your finger over any window ledge and you’ll see accumulated dust come right off. The sink in the en-suite room upstairs leaks from the wall along with underneath the countertop, we let management know and they were onto it straight away. Thanks for that.
I’m not usually one to write long reviews but for what you’re paying, the house is far from clean. Could go as far as saying some corners of the house were quite dirty.
Several others talk about the stairs, yes do keep them in mind when choosing here. They’re not steep but can be for elderly when trekking them back and forth. We have an Everest and parking would get tricky if we had a second car of similar or smaller size.
The walking trail down to the beach is lovely and we made good use of that. There’s dragonfired pizza down by the shore, garlic bread is a must have for $8.
Thanks Ten Tawa for being our central place on Waiheke, you were a great stay despite the cleanliness.
