Right from the get go, our host was very informative and approachable. The setting is just so idyllic and Barefoot Lodge is just the perfect escape from city life. No need to go anywhere else with the spa, flying fox, epic water slide, swing rope, kayaks and pontoon on the lake ready to entertain all ages! It was very hard to leave the bird song that echoes around the bay, this truly is a must stay.
We had such a magical stay at The Barefoot Lodge, everything was what we could have imagined and more. Rachelle was a great host and showed us everything we need to know. The place was super clean, spacious and comfortable. This is truly a hidden gem and we can’t wait to come back again!
If you want somewhere that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of life and want to spend quality time with family this place is perfect! There is so much to do the kids were never bored. I highly recommend this property, it accommodated my family of thirteen, three families, comfortably.
We are two families of 5, kids ranging from 13 - 7 years old. We were warmly welcomed by Rachelle and her family and shown around.
It was an instant wow factor. Kids were super excited and stoked with the spa, slide, zip line, Kayaks, massive section to explore, fires to light.
We left the property only a small handful of times as spent all our time relaxing, and playing at the house and lake.
It didn’t take long to get used to no wifi or mobile coverage (well very limited). At night the kids snuggled up by the fire and watched DVDs while we dined under the stars.
Fabulous relaxing holiday thanks. There’s already talk of another visit.
If freedom, relaxation and peace are on your agenda.. this is the perfect place for you. In the morning we enjoyed cooking in the cute kitchen of the solar powered home then enjoying our meal outside on the beautiful table. (Another one just as useful inside but the sun was out and we wanted to enjoy it!). Heaps of games to keep our group occupied when we ran out of things to talk about or weren’t out kayaking. OH and The slide is blimmin awesome!! So much fun and you can warm up in the spa straight after so I Highly recommend giving that ago! We also loved sitting out in the wood fired spa late at night stargazing and just enjoying such peaceful moments. No light pollution or man-made noises. A break from that life really does something good for your wairua(spirit)! Meanwhile the house is kept cozy with an awesome heat transfer system they have linked up to the fire place and all the beds are super comfy. Highly recommend and hoping to organise another trip down sometime!

Thank you so much for your amazing review :-) We're really happy you enjoyed it all and especially that you braved the slide in winter!! Well done!! See you next time :-)
We stayed with a group of friends for a long weekend retreat. Couldn’t fault a thing! Rachelle was terrific to deal with and had the house set up perfectly for us when we arrived - including the spa fire burning ! A beautiful property right on the lake, great landscaping with big decks to watch the spectacular night skies from. Very cosy house with great kitchen, bar and fire so that even if it is cold or wet out you don’t really care!

Secluded Paradise.
Barefoot lodge is located in an amazing setting, and well equipped for a water skiing family holiday. The accommodation was of a high standard, and the additional facilities on offer such as the hot tub and kayaks were excellent. It was one of the best holiday locations I’ve been to yet; good value and great location. Communication from the owner was excellent and nothing was a bother. Kids had a ball and did an Easter egg hunt in the bush, we hope to be back again one day. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing lodge
We had a surprise family weekend at Barefoot lodge for a family members special birthday - it was the most perfect weekend we could have asked for, the lodge has absolutely everything you could possibly need and is set in such a stunning spot!
Rachelle was amazing to communicate with and went over and above to make sure we could make this weekend happen and that it was an unforgettable one!
We had a few rainy days but with the kayaks, spa, table tennis and games at the lodge everyone had a fabulous time!
We could not recommend staying here more highly, you will not be disappointed. We have made magic memories that will be treasured forever!
Thank you so much Rachelle and family for sharing your slice of paradise xox

Fantastic
We come together as a group of old school friends once a year. We have been doing that for 25years and have stayed at many places over that time. Rachelles place is the most comfortable, private, and group friendly place that we have stayed at. Everything is as its described and the setting is even better. I would highly recommend this property.
See you again soon I hope.

Wonderful peaceful stay
We really enjoyed the quiet peaceful nights and birdsong during the day. Also fun to monitor the solar power system and use the minimum of power.

The lodge was fantastic, we could not have asked for a more...
The lodge was fantastic, we could not have asked for a more picturesque and beautiful place to catch up with old friends. The adults got to chill and relax while the kids had an absolute blast in the hot tub and waterslide (and some of the adults too??). We were all blown away and all very sad to leave. We will be back though!

An incredible secluded bach that lets you reconnect with nature
An incredible secluded bach that lets you reconnect with nature. We were a group with three generations including teens and everyone enjoyed it. Star gazing in the spa pool, catch ups around the fire, waterskiing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding kept everyone active and naps in the afternoon and lots of reading recharged our souls. Loved every minute of this holiday.

Absolutely Stunning and Peaceful
This place is amazing! Honestly, the photos were beautiful but they don't do it justice! You walk into the place and it feels spacious, peaceful, and like you're right at home. We stayed with 12 adults and never once felt like we were on top of each other. This place has everything you need and so much more for an amazing, relaxing, fun-filled time. It feels like you are in your own little paradise! We absolutely loved our stay here :)
